La Vuelta 2024 | Stage 3 – Teixeira | 20.46 mi | 2,641 ft
EXTRA START TIMES REPORT:
The changes we’d mentioned in past blogs were used here today so lets see how it went! We had the 2LATE4ME version running a day earlier, with 2 riders finishing with American rider “Tyler.” getting the win and the first mention of tonight’s blog!
The new time slot for the 2EARLY4ME of 4:30am didn’t get a single rider, but the 9:30am RISE&RIDE had a very respectable 17 registered riders, with 13 on the start line and 9 finishers. “paolobendy” wins it with a very very good time, just 7 seconds in front of fellow Italian “Nuccio64” with Irish Muckers Worldwide Team Rider “rmadden1” getting the 3rd place podium position!
The lunch time EARLY-ON version had just the one finisher and that was British rider “Sky_Diver” with a very fast time averaging a very healthy 3.7w/kg which then leaves the last of the extra races, the LATER-ON version which didn’t have any riders finish.
MAIN RACE REPORT:
90 riders registered and we had a very nice 68 on the start line! No one on the extra start times did this under 60 minutes so could the hitters from the main race get under that figure?? 8 did!! yes!! 8 of these animals did it ππͺπͺπͺ
“BareRemi” is back and might now get in the mix and spoil the “stefan and Lrollin show!” or is it too late?? “Stefan_Schmidt” Kept the pressure on to finish in a very strong 2nd, with GURE rider “Edu.Armada-GURE” getting the 3rd place podium. “lrollin” comes home 4th, just letting everyone know he’s well and truly still here for this fight with past races winner “przemokrk” learning that this is now gonna get tougher to not only win, but get on a podium! What a top-5!
*We Need to make Edu.Armada-GURE aware that we can see the huge intermittent spikes in watts on his data. we will let it slide as a glitch on this race, but if we see it again in another race, you will be removed. Lets keep this fair guys, and we can see some very interesting data with NITEOR*
What a top 42 to be honest! the top 42 overall have produced an average ftp of over 3.0 w/kg for this race. 42 riders, plus a few others in some lower places. Big efforts all round proving this months top 50 is going to be a hard place to get into!
Sorry for the delay in the blog, ROUVY had a strange issue with simonjp last night and had him classified as finished but right at the bottom of the ROUVY race leaderboard. Last i looked it had changed to an actual finish time, but, was still at the bottom of the standings. So this messed everything up and crashed NITEOR. It is all fixed now but it meant i just couldn’t get the blog out last night. We will get there, we are just experiencing some teething issues, so with that in mind, Please let me know if you see anything we’ve missed and we will sort it asap.
While i’m blogging/typing can i just ask if you can to please help us keep this all going by buying some merchandise. We have special mentions T-Shirts in all different languages and a whole bunch of other items that will just help to keep the lights on at Muckers Worldwide. (the hoodies are my favorite!) We appreciate all the help we get!
GC will be all sorted soon and added when its ready.
Thanks for racing with us, thanks for clicking on the blog and lastly thanks to all those that read this to the end.

SEPTEMBER CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS AFTER 1 OF 4 RACES:
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
I had a glitch-fest tonight that ruined the first part! Got off to a flyer, hoping to draft the early part with the really fast guys before i hit the climb and get swamped by everyone! It was all good up the start climb, then as we crested the hill… boom… i get glitched back and out of the draft. Plan totally ruined. got caught by the next group, rode together then….boom again! 2 more glitches after this and i was totally demoralized. Switched to Map and Stats screen and just pedaled while watching my figures. had a nice climb, catching a few, but nearly every time i caught and passed someone, someone fast came up and passed me π, but near the top i got into a nice place where i was matching those in front and pulling away from everyone behind.
Luckily, a few riders took a cautious start to this race saving reserves for the climbing. A large group formed early and started to swallow up smaller groups ahead, the only risk to our harmony was faster riders passing from behind tempting stronger riders from our group to leave us.
As we hit the climb riders started to drop off one by one. I was surprised at this and worried I was pacing wrong but just kept plugging away at 2.9-3.0w/kg. The plan worked and I positioned well for my ability, and weight π. It was a 100% effort at my highest heart rate and possibly a reward for a couple of weeks of Z2 riding.
Race stats: Age : 57, Weight : 95kg, IF=1.005
Averages : 166bpm, 281w, 2.96w/kg.
It was clear that it was a tough path. I did a good job after 2 days of not feeling well, I worked with a good group with friends Ludford and Mick even if on the long climbs I still lack something to keep up with their pace.
Last phase, good teamwork with Regina, until the end with Neil in the mirrors like a thorn in my side who never let me give up the pace. The only disappointment if I have to say is the 52nd position… I don’t remember a similar placement in two years…. but what level have we reached??? Does this mean no points in the Annual Ranking? Omg π
I am following a structured training program which claim a bit of my capacity but with a new monthly championship, opportunity and an opening in my training plan I had to jump in on the fun π
Saw many familiar faces, good to be back!
Started hot so I could stay for as long as possible in a fast group, spent my first 15s up with Matthias Heil before I settled into the pace of the 2nd peleton when things normalized. I was operating at threshold for most of the “flat” section, riding with Mike Hagen and others, but did let them go before reaching first climb as I had to pace myself a little to get HR down below threshold again. On the first climb I was almost caught by SwissChris, Silvia and a few others but HR was now back in check, and I could approach threshold again.
Pretty much riding the last climb in lonesome and crossed the line in an uncontested 25th place for the main race. Awesome numbers from the Top10, congrats Remi with the win!
Good to be back, will try to ride as many Thursdays as possible, plus Sunday Socials π
Stats: Weight 87kg and 296W (NP) with an IF of 0.90

if you don’t get top 50 then I’ve no hope!!ππ. Lets hope consistently doing all 4 races is enough π€π€π€π€
