MUCKERS Slovenian Alpine Peaks Race Night. 13/6/23

Rouvy Route Used : Lago del Predil from Bovec | Slovenia

Tuesday night Hill Climb. As a Race. 9.29 miles and 2509 feet of climbing. On possibly one the hottest nights in the U.K for a long time. Why Not!! Average grade of 5% seems quite nice, but the max of 12% isn’t too bad until you see there’s quite a few of them on the route. Anyway, lets crack on and see who gets to the end so they get this pretty tough challenge completed.

“JoseCostaRonda” showed us all the way tonight and from a slow start as well to claim 1st place with a 41.7 second lead over the extremely strong “Tuden” in 2nd! Then the equally strong “adampel” came over the line just 15 seconds later to claim a very strong 3rd place.

Then we have a gap. almost 6 minutes then the rest of us “normal” 😉 riders start to finish! “nielsbrynnum” is 4th in what looks a solo ride, 5th comes “jakimati” with space in front and behind to “DomenDARADO” in a lonely 6th as well. Excellent results for these guys but feels like they might have done it alone???

Next 4 places are a quartet of Muckers Worldwide riders! 7th and Top placing to “denny44”, 8th to “Chak” , 9th “Ryanio-Bianchi” with the last place mention going to “Rens_Piccavert” who was in a close race with someone for this position! Top 10 all finishing with an average speed of 10 MPH or more! really impressive.

Well done to all that did this one tonight, it was a long slog and hopefully you enjoyed it or at least it helped you get the challenge completed.

cheers.

12th for me and quite happy as i really don’t get on with hill climbs at all. Tried to stay with a group that were just too fast for me and i hung ion till the first split then just had to let them go and concentrate on my own effort up the long climb. Andy_UP had already said he was going to Zone 4 this one and his zone 4 normally beats my max effort so I was determined to stay in front of him up here!!! I’d also kept my racing gears set up on the wattbike rather than the hill climb set up i normally change it to and it was soo hard! I’m usually spinning up these at a nice 85-95 rpm doing around 5mph on the +10% sections, but with this set up, its 65-75 rpm in first but doing around 6mph instead. Anyway, it kept me in front and also just in front of “derrydingle” who i think i was watching more than anyone else!! So happy this challenge is now done for me!!

Even in Trento the temperature was hot, especially to try to compete with Rens Piccavet. I kept my last energy to make the last assault but maybe I waited a little too long… top ten escaped for 11″.
Congratulations to all and see you tomorrow night 😜💪

Too hot for a shark attack!! well done on the 11th place, I had no chance on catching you but seemed to keep the gap around the same once I finally got into some kind of rhythm at around the halfway stage up the last hill. I was gutted to let you 3 go at the foot of the hill but i just had to recover and find my zone otherwise I would have just died at your pace! Well done again and thank you for commenting.

Nice ride, but the uk weather was having an impact. Started well moved up to 8th but couldn’t keep up with domendardo and he soon went by and I dropped to 9th. I tried to cling to his coat tails and I was at one stage about 30m behind him and Chak In what would have been a battle for 7th but I burned abit to much energy and they pulled ahead manage to keep chak at around 70-80m but he proved to strong. Had one final burst on the last section of the climb to put about 200m between me and rens. After legs were spent but was a good cycle. Well done all for finishing on what was a tough climb made harder by the hot uk weather.

What happened to just riding up these climbs at a nice pace! what makes us want to try and race them as well!?? The pressure does make you try that little bit harder doesn’t it, especially when in the top 10!! Well done Mucker and thank you for commenting.

As a triathlete, I knew that the climb Tuesday was going to by tuff. However, I thought I got a good start of the race. The strong Dane “Tuden” lead the race from the beginning with Adampel 30 mtr behind Tuden. I managed to catch up with Adampel with some hope for cooperation/draft, but shortly after he left me and I needed to find my own rhythm towards the finish line. I thought it´s OK, – you are still at the podium. But then I saw the missile from Portugal “Josecosta” closing in and I knew immediately my podium spot was history. After “Josecosta” flew by me I struggled mentally as my podium position flew away as fast as “Josecosta” flew by me. Impressive race by the podium finishers!

thank you foe commenting! i was a lot lower than you and he flew past me as well but earlier on in the race. he’s a strong rider! still a superb result getting 4th on this route! well done!
