MUCKERS TUESDAY RACE NIGHT. 19/09/23

ROUVY Route Used: La Vuelta 2023 | Stage 8 – Xorret de Cati | 18.7 miles | 2496 ft climbing.

94 Registered | 47 Finishers | 18 DNF | 29 DNS

So the real La Vuelta has finished, but, the Muckers, if they’ve followed the schedule we set up weeks ago, still have 3 routes to finish the “El Diablo” challenge. Tonight’s Tuesday race night uses a really good route for a race, so it was with fingers crossed we looked at the registered riders this morning and hoped we’d have some riders still with us! We had around 30 by lunch time so we were more than happy with that and it just kept gradually increasing as the day went on.

65 riders on the start line!!! absolutely blown away and lets go and see if anyone could crack this in under 60 minutes!

New to the Muckers races “jorre07” got the win with a very impressive time of 54mins and 5 seconds, beating regular top rider “karel_sousek” into 2nd place by 18 seconds. 3 seconds later we have Italian rider “Alieno79” in a very strong 3rd place.

Bit of a gap to 4th place, which was taken by “gaet40”, another substantial gap to 5th place “Minyana” then another substantial gap to 6th place “kometen1” That climb must have split a lot of rider packs up but “RICARDENO” was only 6 seconds behind in 7th!

8th place goes to tonight’s top Muckers Worldwide Team Rider ” Berty-Bassett6″ with yet another nice gap to 9th place “Grochang” . Rounding out the top 10 we have “romansemerak” just 6 minutes behind the leader. Really strong top 10, well done!

11th goes to the 2nd Mucker over the line “nielsbrynnum” with fellow Dane “transberg” coming home 12th. German rider “Stefan793” claims 13th just in front of Czech rider “grep1” who was nicely in front of 2 more Muckers Worldwide Team Riders “kylofski” in 15th and “DonJulio” in 16th. Well done guys, 4 Muckers in this strong top 20 is really impressive stuff.

A duo of German riders next with “Stefan_Smit” in 17th and “robse3011” in 18th, followed by French rider “lrollin” in 19th and the final mention goinging to the top places Belgium rider “francoisvdp” in 20th place!

Another 27 riders finished after this top 20 and well done to you all for doing so! Did you see how many gave up just on the climb!! a lot! so no matter where you places, you didn’t let this route beat you like 18 other riders did! As I hope most of you know by now, there is a rule change coming into the muckers worldwide race reports from next month that means if I cant see your heart rate data, you will not be featured on here. Blog explaining why this is happening is in the link below. If I was to apply those rules to tonight’s Top 20 mention places, which I won’t, but just for example, we’d have had 7 RIDERS disqualified for either not being friends (only way I can see the HR data), or no HR data anyway. So please make sure you are compliant, especially if you want to feature on our final leaderboard.

Cheers everyone and see you on the next one!

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

36th and what a horrible climb at the end. The beginning i just did everything i could to stay with a really good group including rogerstranier and we worked really nicely to keep the pace up to the bottom of the climb. I couldn’t match his pace so settled into 3.0s which with a little bit of standing and siting and the odd gear change to keep the body and legs using different muscles, i got to the top! Really happy with my race with an intensity factor of 1.01 being a nice number! well done for finishing this one!

very interesting route for a race because you had to keep your strength to finish the last climb, but quite tactical, because you also had to climb the first one with tempo to have good wheels on the descent if you are not good in this exercise (my case), and then push as you can in this horrible final climb. I had fun with this 20th place

Nice race, guys, this time I started softer because all that red blood at the end really made me think it would be tough. I looked for a small group to follow and finally managed to catch Neil with Kingmagic and Rogersteiner…. it was a nice optical effect, 2 red runners and 2 Muckers who for a while alternated with some pushing and sometimes with a bit of tactics to avoid losing energy. Then we arrived at the last and very long tango of infinite sweat… we split up, I worked with Kingmagic, I wanted revenge but in the end today once again I wasn’t able to hold it… for a short time but we are 2-0 by him 😬. I made a good recovery at the end keeping a pace that was decent for me, I saw that I was catching up on other fellow Muckers like S. Loudford who was always a point of reference for me to improve and other friends, in the end I got a 29th without mention but nice and sweaty. Too bad I wasn’t able to catch Scatsner who almost passed me… well done everyone 💪

Divertida y buen entrenamiento de calidad.
Lo interesante es ir con un grupo de nivel parecido… y aprovechar el trabajo en grupo

  5. Kyle Goodram says:

My thoughts before the race, looking at the route, were to “pace yourself.” I knew there would be loads of racers going for it right from the start. I set off at a steady pace and caught up with a group that included a few Muckers Racers like “Andy_UP,” “S.Ludford,” and “Rens.” This was a nice-sized group, consisting of about 6 to 7 riders. I knew that if I could stick with this group, I would be able to drop a few riders on the final climb (sorry, Muckers).

As we approached the last climb, it was the right time to kick it up a gear. My aim for this climb was to maintain 3.9 – 4.0 w/kg. I started at 23rd position at the bottom and ended up in 13th at the top, with only “stefan693” and “grep1” within catching distance of me. However, at the very last little kicker, I was beaten by “stefan793” and “grep1” who put in some big watts, exceeding 8 w/kg. I’m really happy with my 15th position, especially considering there were 94 registered riders. Well done to everyone; this was a tough race!

If I had been strong enough to stay in my initial group for 2 miles further I would have reached the big climb sooner and fresher … but I wasn’t, so I didn’t. Luckily, teammate ‘Chak’ dropped off the pack at the same time and we were able to work together to the climb. I hoped to maintain position on the climb but ended up slipping about 9 positions as rider after rider slowly crept past, I’m just too heavy but credit to the riders who tackled this climb so well. The boss man ‘Mucker1974’ loomed large in my rear view mirror and kept me pushing to the peak, I’m not sure whether to thank him or tell him he was a bloody nuisance.

  7. Stefan says:

Sadly, the power n/a bug seems to be back… I had at least five dropouts including a pretty longish one – and there were quite a number of riders who were even more impacted than me, dropped back and are now in the dnf list.
During the climb, I sometimes had three and four riders without power reading on the nearby riders list.

  8. Niels Brynnum says:

I agere Neil, what a horrible climb at the end. From the start I felt quite good and the legs responded well until they faced the 20+ % at the last climb. I was in the group chasing the guys in front together with my strong teammate Lee 💪🏻💪🏻, good danish friend Grochang 💪🏻💪🏻, Minyana and Gaet40. Minyana and Gaet40 seemed to like the draft 💨💨 from the 3 of us 😉😅😅 but that is racing. At last climb, I felt I was missing lower gears, had 39 in front and 30 at the back. I struggle heavily to get pass the 20+% areas 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Anyway guys thanks a lot for organising the races !! I look forward to the upcoming “normal” climbs/routes 😅

    • Minyana says:

First and foremost I can only apologise for the lack pulling by me , I was on limit right from the start , I saw Niels putting out big numbers and distancing me then slowing again , I could only assume he was waiting or expecting me to do a turn but legs were screaming at me ‘ you promised you wouldn’t do this again ! I had a little medal at the end saying best 5 min power so mustn’t grumble but going up that last hill I could see person infront matching whatever I did and the person behind doing more than me so I knew I was gonna lose places so with no magic wand to wave I resigned to lumbering up while at the same time promising my legs I would never ever ask them to do this again – I had my fingers crossed !! Well done all and thanks for organising – still think Niels would have smashed me if him and the gure member worked together , they were much stronger

  10. Roger Jones says:

started off on the first climb nice and steady, until I saw Muckers in front of me so I caught up and passed. once I reached the top I was in a group of 4 riders, consisting of Mucker1974, Squalo_della_Alpi, Kingmagic and myself.
we all worked well as a team taking it in turns to lead. Once we reached that brutal 4km climb near the end the group went there own way, Kingmagic and Squalo_della_Alpi where very strong finishing between 2 and 1 minutes ahead of me and mucker1974.
Also noticed that two of us were wearing red Etape Brazil jerseys and the other two wearing Muckers jerseys.
well done to everyone on that brutal climb.

  11. Mads Grosen says:

Wow what a race and thanks Niels for inviting me.😊 It’s been a while since I’ve done race, so I was quite nervous to see how my legs would respond. Still a little bit rusty legs but glad to find a group to the very last climb.
Looking forward to see you all next time🚵‍♂️💨 Grochang🇩🇰

Me lo he pasado bien, gusta ir con muchos corredores , siempre das con zapato a tu medida y te sueles esforzar mas de lo normal
