MUCKERS W/KG CHAMPIONSHIP BLOG

This is where you will find the updates at the end of every month to see how this GC is looking!

Remember every week is a different w/kg target as we go through the month.

There’s a slight variation on what you think your averaging and what you actually get awarded. Its not much, but it just shows how ROUVY are a bit more “relaxed” with what they show you on the screen, but then the figures that get scraped over by NITEOR are more exact. We’ve decided to call it the “decimal surprise” …. as in, you think you’ve done 2.8 on ROUVY but when you check on NITEOR you might be 2.79!! SURPRISE!!! 😏

We do like that you can pop into this championship at any time and get great points straight away if you get near the w/kg target.

If your name is in Bold, you hit the target perfectly! a little homage to the “special mentions” from back in the day…

GC AFTER FIRST 4 RACES (JANUARY)

4 Different winners (it seems if you all get 100% on target, it then goes in fastest finisher order) for the first 4 races, with a nice lead for MikeHagen over the rest. But it’s early days and Mike does struggle to go “slow” so lets see if he can keep it up in February, especially on the first 2 races which will be 2.0 and 2.3….

FEBRUARY:

Neil Rushby

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

After 1 month, I’m very happy to be in 5th overall in the GC, especially as i just can’t seem to get as close to the w/kg target as i’d like! I’ve never been close enough to get top 5 for the week, but i reckon i might in Feb! 🤞🤞🤞The 2.8 was very hard for me, but i pushed as hard as i could and came over the line with a 2.74 which is my highest for the year so even though this is a “training” championship, the last 2 have felt like max training!! But so far so good.

I like this new version of the Tuesday Muckers appointment, I work for all the stages good but never perfect.
In February easy I must one race but will be another great challenge to do.
At the end when we have twice race as today, the first it’s better to call out all and not warm up 😂, and is nice to ride the second for find the right target.
    Cheers to everyone 💪🫶🏻🦈

Mike, do you remember Neil bet L100 that “hitters” would never be able to do this game? Help me out. I wasn’t completely paying attention, and my 80+ yo memory can get a bit vague.

I find this W/kg championship really intriguing. It’s hard (very hard) to stifle the competitive juices and let folk go, especially when one *knows* one can easily keep up. But I’m also an OCD perfectionist and trying to nail that W/kg target is appealing! Managed to do it for one month, but for a year? 11 more months? Not sure about that. We will see!

    • Neil Rushby says:

cheers Mike for the comments. I watch with interest to see if you start to feel this is also beneficial in a training context rather than just a perfectionist one. . . . .

  5. Val Rdz says:

It’s really nice this new way of doing the race, only I don’t understand why those who are tied do not have the same number of points for the ranking. It’s not fair 😮
Anyway this month I missed two, I hope to come back later in ranking.😇

Hi, thanks for the comments. We are kinda stuck with how NITEOR have this set up at the moment. No one else really uses it so if we crack on this year and it proves to be popular, i can approach NITEOR and ask if there’s a way to do joint placings for races with this w/kg format for future events. I’d also like to see it, but it’s also very early days and right now i am just grateful the option is there to chose at this moment in time.
