MUCKERS 2026 MARCH CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 1.
ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:
Anglés | Spain | 18.16 miles | 1,631 ft. elevation.
ROUVY SAY: Ride deep into the Guilleries from Anglès, with steady climbs, quiet forest roads and dramatic cliffs, reaching the hidden hamlet of Sant Martí Sacalm before looping back.
WE SAY! Yes we are here!! We look like we are well on track to keep this going for the rest of the year as well! So we hit the month off with our now “usual” non-draft first race and it was a tough one. A long climb that eventually went into a steeper climb, then a downhill with some leg killer flatter section. And no draft “rest” lets see how we all got on but first, please please please remember we are still keeping our rules, with the main one being hr data. please make sure you still supply this if you want to be included.
77 riders stuck to the rules so we are now on with double checking the categories so we are happy with them as they will stay the same for the whole month now that we are looking after them “in house” .

WHATS NEXT TO COME:
Sunday Hill Climb:
We have a double header on Sunday. 2 long routes but both just under the magic 3000ft So we’ve added them together so we end up doing just under 49 miles and 5443 ft. elevation. hopefully i’ve given enough time to complete the first and we can all be on the start line for the 2nd but remember, you can be up to 29 minutes late for a race and still be allowed in AND all that matters on the Sunday Hill climb GC is the elevation so being late isnt an issue. race links are here (first 2 are the Am ones, the last 2 are the PM ones)

Tuesday w/kg championship: (Target is 2.3w/kg)
Trenton to Bar Harbor | Acadia | Maine | 15.95 miles | 978 ft. elevation. Starting near Lamoine, this point-to-point route crosses the mainland and heads toward Mount Desert Island, finishing in Bar Harbor. The ride features rolling terrain, coastal stretches, and quiet rural roads before entering Acadia National Park.
Usual 6 different start times so Just search “Muckers 2.3” and they will come up and hopefully you have 1 in a start time that works for you. We love this championship as you are all in the position to score max points if you hit the target! Doesn’t matter which time slot you use, or if your in a packed race with draft or not. You can even turn up late!! All you have to do is average the w/kg we set. Simple!
Thursday Championship Night. Race 2:
IRONMAN Kalmar-Sweden 40km | 24.85 miles | 732 ft. elevation. Ride a compact taste of Ironman Kalmar, rolling out along the Baltic shoreline and through flat Småland countryside. Smooth tarmac, wide skies and coastal winds shape this short 40 km ride, echoing the rhythm and openness of Ironman race day.
Usual 7 different start times to choose from so just search “Muckers March 2” and the first 7 that come up are the ones!
TO FINISH OFF:
So that’s the TT done for March! 3 draft fest races left to see if you can get in that all important top 50 and aim to get into the top 3 in your category for some bonus points! Please remember the Categories are just there for some extra race within a race feature to keep things even more competitive than they are. We will be keeping an eye on them and if we see someone is too high or too low, we will move you into a more closer category so you have as close a competition as possible that we can give you. We also want to promote and relegate as well at the end of the month, but these will only apply to riders who did all 4 races
Thank you everyone for the support and joining the races, especially recently while its been a bit up in the air if we could continue, but its looking really good to continue for 2026!
thanks for reading the blog, especially those of you who’ve read to the end. Appreciate it.

Bloody Glitchy ROUVY! Been thrown out of the app so many times recently, so when i got thrown out whilst in the warm up, things didnt look good. loaded back up and got into the start shoot again and everything looked fine for the 3 mins we had before race start. We get the 3-2-1 countdown and boom, i see the number 1 and next we are on the ipad home screen. Bloody wonderful!!!
loaded it up again and i got going in last place, 2 minutes behind everyone else but i tell myself to not ride angry and stick to the plan so i settled into staying over 2.5w/kg for the whole of the climb which i did and which also allowed me to catch and pass a few riders and lock my sights on my good friend Fazzo34! He was just under a quarter of a mile in front as he went into the downhill so by the time i got there, he was 0.5 miles in front. Set off after him and finally caught him near the bottom, as well as some others who we both passed. I thought i was gonna get JotaLorenzo1970 but they just held me off, but only just.
looking at the results, id have only been 2 or 3 places higher if id had not had the glitch, but who knows if i’d have gone the same speed as sometimes being right a the back and hunting riders down just pushes you that extra 10% doesn’t it. But i am going to have to revert back to my iphone for the rest of the Thursday races as i cant deal with another glitch, especially if it means i loose the draft!
Well done everyone for finishing and making it a race for me!
Darn Neil – seems like you can’t buy a break these days! Nice job pressing on – both in the race and re getting the results published so quickly – You’re still in the thick of it for category bragging rights – especially with the 0.1 delta per places > 50.
cheers Eric, i really don’t want to come across all on a downer but yeah, its been a while since i did a “great race” comment doesn’t it!! So don’t get me wrong, i’m still loving the races, i just feel it’s been a while since its gone as well as possible. The Category will be hard to win this month with the strong 4Word, Stelvio and the rider i couldn’t quite catch tonight JotaLorenzo1970 all being in the mix, but i will give it as good a go as i can!
3 goals and 1 reach goal today: 3.0 W/kg (I did 2.9), break 1 hour (missed it by 6 seconds), finish top 50 and get some “category points separation” (finished 51st). Sooooo close. Stretch goal was to better the time posted yesterday by ValRdz, but that didn’t happen either. 0 for 4. Still, given that I was carrying on a conversation with my wife for half of the steep climb, I’m not disappointed. I had to do one of the earlier rides today so didn’t really have any “carrots” either. Watched the last 30 minutes of the “main event” and would have loved to try and chase down Duckman2 for 50th place. I think he was 2 minutes faster than I over the climb, but I was on the Ribble + Bike Ahead kit and made good time on the downhill run home – just not enough to grab those extra 5 points for 50th. Boo-hoo.
To be clear about my “carrots” comment: Badeskum and Dok_PS were also in my heat, but no way I was keeping up with Those Guys!
thanks for comments! what is good about this first race is the non-draft element so we are all in the same boat no matter what time you choose, but you are also correct in that those lesser attended races looses some carrots and sticks! I went Ribble tonight as well and felt it was great after the climb as all i did was catch riders and didn’t get anyone overtaking me. You are more than fast enough to get top 50 at the end of the month though, and you’ll finish quite high, especially if you can get to all 4 races. good luck for the rest of the month and respect for what you do mucker!
I see where you are going with the 5 point cliff at 50th. You are right that is huge for A6. I’m in A7, I’m thinking just one race in the top 50 could be a game changer. The question is which of us in A7 is going to be the one to do that. I know both Neil and 4worldpeace are capable of finishing in the top 50. That just means etapavolta and JotaLorenzo we can’t let them run away with A7. Next week top 50 or die trying. Who am I kidding, that is alway my goal at the start of the race then 60 minutes later I’m just hanging on to what ever position I find myself in. But one can dream. As always I love this stuff, thanks muckers.
Great read, Eric. I am cheering for you to get 4/4 next time!
Saw you coming! Had to try a get the old legs spinning to wrap up another glitchy ride. Nice flat one today.
All righty, then, how’d I do? I was A3 last month, so looking down the leaderboard and I see Badeskum now in A3. What? And then I see me in A2. WHAT? Oh, right, now we are doing the promotion/deregulation thing, which I think is a great way to organize groups, and it’ll be interesting to see how it works out the rest of the year. A little lower down, and I see that I’m on the A2 podium. WHAT!! How did that happen? Well, it was like this: Last month’s ITT, I started too hard and bonked with a subpar finish. EddyDomino kindly advised that I should check my numbers from the past couple months and set a sustainable pace. So I did that. Looked like 3.7-3.8 W/kg was a good target pace. Starting the climb and I was behind KarianneKanebog, who would be serious A3 competition if she was in shape, and it looked like she was. I had a carrot. Onto the steep part of the climb and we were gaining on perswe, who’d blown by earlier. Per is also someone I want to keep up with. Another carrot. They both summited ahead of me and got a few hundred meters ahead, but I’m a good descender; so I’ve said before, and now I had a chance to show it, hopefully! Corner braking: you love it, or you hate it. Sprinting out of every corner to get back up to speed is hard, but I was gaining. Caught Per first, then got Karianne in my sights. Virtual shifting is an advantage too; no more spinning out on the downhills, I can power through. And when I caught Karianne, she had no draft, so I just kept going. That was a good race for me. Kudos to all that finished!
Great performance Mike! I shouldn’t have tell you this tip 😱 Now you are 6 seconds aheah of me… See you next week for the super flat Sweden route. Congrats for your A2 update.
Gotta love those TT’s. Went from A6 to A7 which is probably a truer category for me since I think almost all if not all A6’s are stronger riders than me. And for the first time being at the top of my category this week was nice. Definitely a tough race but, then all TT’s are for me. I was using the BMC Teammachine R 01 One/ bike ahead setup and was not sure if it would hold up on the down hill but, no one passed me and somehow I was able to pass Bates1980. I had to really push hard toward the top of the climb and the decent to hold off Mikeee73. Did the add on race as well. I was pretty spent for that one, but some how managed to finish 12th out of 20 finishers. All and all a good day for me.
well done Mucker, i was that spent after my horrible TT that i just had enough of ROUVY for one night and wasn’t sure if another glitch was something i was ready to handle lol. so i did it the next day as a recovery ride. props to doing both! PS A7 has gone a bit more competitive hasn’t it!!
Well, the evening starts with a fantastic warm-up, right? As usual in my American Parks series… 😇 Will it be the right move for the main race? Maybe… I start softly since it’s going to be tough again today, I work well and see a lot of friends around me… then after 5 km, the Sharky Tractors mood starts to kick in, with the help of Andreas, it feels like I’m pedaling in the slipstream, a great morale boost. We work hard and well, I don’t like long climbs but we go, towards the end we drop a bit and I go hunting for RLuoro, I manage to pass him but I see he has a TTT and immediately I thought that finishing ahead will be impossible with all that green. In the end, with a few km to go, he catches up with me and passes me, I don’t try to resist, but shortly after, a nice carrot appears… Ratim… so I try and get close, we pedal together but he is stronger than me and in the end, tired but happy, I finish in the top 30 of the main event. Thanks everyone and after a few days of relaxation in Florence we’ll see you next Thursday for the next battle… and I forgot, but did you see that Cat. 5 this month??? It’ll be really tough but I like challenges, see you soon, 👋💪🫶🏻🦈
I am glad to have Cat 6 be a little more relaxed. Finally Sly is up there with you and Val and Bryon – the new mechanic of promotion and demotion at the end of the month is a fun little thing.
i do love seeing how you guys look at the categories and see it as an extra little challenge.
A note about the Categories.
As Neil says, they are there to provide additional competition and motivation. We started with a blank canvas this month and used our own calculation based on Ave Thursday w/kg, after this calculation we compared with last Niteor calculation to make sure nobody moved 2 Categories.
We can immediately see some slightly misplaced riders (mainly in ELITE, A1 & A2) that were difficult to spot when we had over 500 riders in the list, but generally, looking at the points distribution, we are happy with the first effort.
We can tweak some of these next month and promotion/relegation will also fix obvious errors in time. Thanks everyone.
cheers Ste, you’ve done a cracking job but you are too hard on yourself! We will have the categories nailed sooner than later and with every race we get more data, so i reckon at some point we will just be able to look at the sheets and go “yep, they need to go up or down” whilst still giving those riders that do 4 races in a month, a chance to get promoted or relegated so they can “try” in another category. Thanks again for just getting into this and going with it beyond my wildest dreams! True Mucker!
Thanks for the work, Steven! I use the categories a lot for motivation and to monitor (somewhat) my progress. So I appreciate your guys work so much!
Just wanted to say I really like the TT addition to the Thursday races this year. For me, it’s a totally different type of workout than the normal races, where there’s more sprints, more recovery, and more strategy. With a TT it’s just hitting a consistent amount of watts and not too much thinking, I like that 🙂
According to the result, yesterday was a good day for me, but I also really loved this course profile, and also the route itself was beautiful. I can’t quite figure out the bikes, though. Last month, I remembered at the last second to run a TT bike and almost felt guilty for passing a lot of people who are always stronger riders than me, but were really struggling on their regular bike. This month, I again used the TT bike (but maybe a different one, I can’t remember), but now I don’t think it really made any difference whether you did or not.
Hi, thanks for the input! I also really like the TT being the first race aswell, even though i had a glitchy nightmare on this one. But it is a different mind set. everyone’s a carrot or a stick aren’t they. Also when you catch someone, you know its because you and your equipment choice is doing it, not draft. So there’s also that point when you catch someone where in a race you’d kinda have a breather in the draft and then maybe go again, the TT means no point in that and just try and carry on and catch the next rider. So its nice to hear others like the change.
Yes, i wasn’t sure about the TT bike or not for this one as i know i am rapid on the green stuff on it compared to normal bikes but this one had too much climbing i reckon for it to make the difference needed. As a rule of thumb (wonder if that saying translates well) if a ride has less than 1/2 elevation to miles, i will always chose the TT bike. for example, if its 20.00miles long, and has 1000ft of elevation, im going TT. but anything over that, i will look at the profile and if it has long climb sections then ill swap to a normal bike but if its more rolling, then i am in a dilemma and i flip a coin lol
