ROUVY launch another short life 1 race challenge and the opportunity presented itself to do a last minute race tonight otherwise I wasn’t going to get it done! So around 6 hours notice, invites sent out, and we had 19 riders on the start line!

So off we go and its fast!! So much for just getting this ride done to get the extra coins for finishing the challenge!! And it was the 2 German Stefans who made the most of this last minute opportunity to get on a rare podium for a Muckers race!! “Stefan793” getting the gold with “Stefan_Smit” just 0.4 seconds behind in Silver! Sprint of for Bronze which goes to Muckers Worldwide Team rider “MikeHagen” who just got the better of “Ghostkiller” in 4th.

Then its Muckers Worldwide from 5th to 9th in the following order: 5th for “Chak”, 6th for “S.Ludford”, 7th for “Mucker1974”, 8th for “rouvy1bryon” and 9th for “Jeff65”. Well done team and I’m really pleased to give you all a mention tonight!

So who gets the last mention?? The strong American Woman “purplebengal”!! I am so happy to be able to give this lady a mention as she has done so many of my rides, and, I often use her virtual partner on my solo rides as she is a really strong rider and seems to have done every route!!

Thank you to everyone who jumped on at such sort notice and i hope you enjoyed the race!

cheers and see you on the next one!

7th and a really good race. legs felt a little tired after yesterdays championship race so I didn’t hold much hope but I got off to a decent start and we were riding as a large pack right at the front of the field. it soon splintered once the climbs started but now i was in the zone and wanted a top 10 so concentrated on that! Gutted when i got dropped on the longer but not as steep third climb, but really glad with how i was still able to stay in the 3.0s so i kept rouvy1byron behind.

Really enjoyed drafting amongst the leading bunch tonight, MikeHagen deserves thanks for keeping an eye on Muckers slipping back, he brought us back a couple of times and tried a third time but we no longer had the strength. Glad he went on to ‘Podium’. After a long spell with Mucker1974 I ultimately ended up with doug.s who dragged me up the final hill but seemed happy to recover and draft on the flat sections, as we came down the final hill I sprinted at 700watts until I got the 50ft gap I wanted then matched his power to the finish line. Once again, the mental stimulation matched the physical workout. Well done Muckers.

That was good fun. It was like old times: only 19 on the start line, and half (it seemed) in the lead pack for the first few kms. Eventually, the two Stefans asserted themselves and pulled away, taking a couple with them. I started to go with them, then thought, nah, relaxed day today. The group had broken up, but Mucker1974 and S.Ludford were on my wheel, and I hoped to pull them up to Chak who was just ahead. Then rouvy1byron caught us, and I went chasing after Chak. Rode with him for awhile, then jonath74 came by and I grabbed his wheel. Eventually, saw that Ghostkiller was coming back to us, so I bridged up to ride with him. Starting thinking about the podium so I attacked at the bottom of the last hill and got a 50 m gap halfway up, but Ghostkiller popped right up and surged 50 m ahead. Was he playing with me? But I closed with him on the last downhill and did a slingshot by him to get another 50 m gap before the line. Still not quite sure what happened in those last few kms!

Thanks for the kind comment, Neil. Also entered this just for challenge credit with my husband (rossaduc) alongside. Had already done Bilu Tree race early that morning and put more into that. But, to be honest, did try hard on this race. Tried to draft with rouvy1bryon and jeff65, but they were a bit stronger, which is fine. Would’ve been nicer if more people, so larger variety of strengths in people, but it was short notice as you said. Still, a nice enjoyable surprise addition to our afternoon. Thanks for all your races; try to do when can, but not really a regular.
