Route 1 from the Czech National Parks | Easy challenge

29 Registered | 22 finishers | 1 DNF | 6 DNS

23 riders on the start line! 23 still showing up on a week night in these summer months. Compared to some race numbers on Rouvy, we are smashing it and its all thanks to you all for showing up every week and giving everyone someone to race against or at least try and keep up with 😉

Really interesting route and worked pretty good as a race route, with a bit of a sting in its tail : uphill ending that will have caught a few out.

The top three consists of three super strong guys you just know are going to be battling for the win! “Tuden” got the gold with “adampel” 7 seconds behind in 2nd and “Karel_sousek” a further 7 seconds behind in 3rd! all 3 averaging over 23mph for the whole of the race.

3 minutes later, the strong riders finish! “MikeHagen” claimed 4th for Cananda, top placed 60+ rider and top placed Muckers Worldwide team rider! But, he looked to have been pushed all the way by new team mate “rmadden1” who was just 5 seconds behind in 5th.

Two Muckers Worldwide team riders in the top 5! we will take that, well done!

6th place came the strong “yayarecki” with a time that almost looks like a solo ride in no-mans-land? maybe he was with the guys up front?

“GhostKiller” claimed a nice 7th place, again, looking like it might have been a bit of a solo effort as well??

Then we have a trio of Canadian riders! That’s 4 Canadians in the top 10! “Chak” came 8th, just in front of friend and fellow Muckers Worldwide team mate “kin_kwan” ( 4 Muckers in the top 10 tonight!!) and in that all important last mention place, “rouvy1bryon” who kept 4 Muckers away from that last mention place!

that was a tough top 10 to get into so well done to those, and well done to everyone who completed this race tonight.

Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

decided a night of zone 4 HR was needed and as it was a “hilly” route, i’d not have faired to well anyway. it always amazes me how easy a zone 4 effort is, yet i can average around 190 watts, but if i go flat out race pace, try to draft etc etc, I’m absolutely spent and only averaged around another 40 watts. So although this felt really easy at times, i just had to keep that heart rate in check and not go over 142bpms. i managed to stay in zone 4 for 97.3% of this and it was really interesting to push my friend and fellow Mucker “swifty” along as we played cat and mouse all the way, with big gaps one minute, id catch up but only to have to let off when the HR got too close to zone 5, so he’d get another gap on me, only for the gap to close again on the next flat. he was lucky it was a sharp uphill finish as i had to slow right down to climb that and keep the heart rate in check! felt quite fresh at the end so did another route at zone 4 straight after and all is well…..

hellishly hot in my garage even though I live in the mountains at 850 meters above sea level, but we can’t miss a Muckers Race night.
Nice race even if I struggled to close the gap with other riders a couple of times, but after 15km I understood that even tonight I would not be close to the top ten. Sin. I couldn’t keep up with Yayarecki in the finale…. but I always kept an eye on Rens as we’ve been traveling close lately. Nice sweat tonight, see you next challenge 💪

Tried something different today: instead of knocking myself out going 100% off the line to stay with the top guys, I settled in with the second group (rmadden1 did what I usually do — more power to him!).  Nice to ride with a group which variously included Andy_UP, Chak, kin_kwan, yayarecki, and ghostkiller.  We lost kin_kwan about a quarter of the way in, but caught rmadden1 after he was dropped by the top three.  Chak, Andy, and ghostkiller dropped off on the  second hill.  I thought of holding back to pull them up, but, no; good Mucker team support up until then, but now it was time to battle with yayarecki and rmadden1.  Attacked midway up the last hill, and thought I’d dropped them both, but rmadden1 got back on (nice going there, new Mucker!).  So it came down to the 500 m uphill finish, which was pretty brutal, but I had more left as it turned out.  Very pleased!

Another great race! Rode together with Mike, Chak, Andy and ghostkiller until the first hill. Didn’t have the legs today and just rode at my own pace. Bryon and I worked together towards the last hill and managed to keep a distance to Denny. Battling with Bryon for the #9 with my best 2 mins max effort!!! Felt good to be ahead of Bryon. Too bad couldn’t catch Chak with his new bike. 😣
See you all in the next race.

Great route, I started well and was just behind kwan and Byron but they managed to get ahead by about 100-150metres and that pretty much stay the same until the last 5miles which increased to about 250metres . Denny caught me and passed me with about 2-3miles to go and opened a gap of about 200metres. Managed to make some inroads on the last climb where I passed Andy up, but Denny and Kwan & Byron were to far ahead and I needed probably another 500m of climbing to see if my effort would have reaped reward. I think I need to rethink my strategy and should have waiting for Denny and then combined to launch and attack on Kwan and Byron. Great ride though and well done all for completing.

Next time we work together, save some energy on the flats and attack the candian trio 🙂
It was tough for both us to do a solo ride

After a hard sunday ride, I wasn’t going to race and try and find a nice draft group. Followed Chak and Kin Kwan and short after start a nice group was created. But Mike was in this group and only a few up the road. My god, I stumbled in the fast 2nd group… I didn’t have much choice but follow the high pace. On a hill about halfway I let go, along with Ghoskiller. I thought I could just let him pull me to the last climb but he didn’t like me sitting on his wheel so he wanted to get rid of me. I played along with it for a while, surging to 8 w/kg sometimes. Then I let him go and strolled to the finish at an easy pace. I did a 35km hilly ride after this one for training.

Tried to stay with the front 3 hoping to get over the first climb with them and get drafted along for a bit after but couldn’t hold them so made the decision to drop back to group behind which was really nice group but that split up aswell and it was just myself Mike hagen yayarecki and ghostkiller and then ghost killer got dropped it was just 3 going into the last climb Mike jumped I waited and jumped after him hoping to gap yayarecki it worked so just went as hard as I could up the climb as going for #5 as I think Mike was far stronger than me really enjoyed it well done to everyone

this Tuesday’s route was a bit of a treat for riders with punch on the small hills, and then it even ends with a small steep climb towards the line. When the start went, there were 5-6 of us in a collective group, which, however, quickly thinned out. The 4 remaining quickly created a gap to the rest of the field. I am ashamed to say that I don’t remember the name of the fourth man who hung around for a while 🥴 With about 18 km to go, there were 3 of us left and it was clear that the podium had to be shared between the 3 of us. Karel Šousek tried a few times with a few snake chops, but we hung on. Adampel tried nothing at all, other than making sure he didn’t take any leads whatsoever..as in zero! He decidedly stopped pedaling as soon as he could see that we wanted him to take some of the tow 🫣 Of course smart enough if you want to be fresh in the final, but piss annoying to drive against! Karel Šousek and I had to realize that there was only us to take the lead, so we did. When there were barely 5 km left, I started to give more and more gas on the little kickers to soften them. I could see the gap getting bigger and bigger each time, so on the last little cool kicker before the final, I didn’t let myself fall back again, and continued at full throttle. Karel Šousek gave up the chase, but behind me I could see Adampel tried a bit to try and catch me, but he finally let go. Then there was only the climb to the line left and first place was secured. Super route profile, more of them thank you😁😁 And thank you for a great race👍🏁🚴🚴

The 4th rider that tried to hang on was our very own new Muckers Wolrdwide rmadden1. Most from the 2nd fast group sometimes feel the need just to see how long we can hold on to the front group (I know I do). Many tried. Few succeeded.

      • Henrik Jørgensen says:

Yes now I remember him👍 and just keep trying to hang on👍 one day you might succeed to stay onboard all the way😉 it will come eventually 😉
