Seems a few riders are riding without Heart Rate monitors on our Tuesday rides but please remember if you are looking to get high in the order, we need this information as part of our rules to get a mention. Maybe most aren’t to bothered anymore, especially on a Tuesday, But most NEDs tonight were just down to no heart rate data rather than a lack of friendship/seeing the data
So to the race, we had a 3 way sprint for the finish with “ErlendSundstrom” getting the gold tonight, just in front of “hinsbergen” in 2nd and “breers33” in 3rd. Just 4 seconds behind comes “Simon_Hahnenbruch” in 4th, 2 seconds later comes “karel_sousek” to claim 5th, with “Lrollin” getting 6th place, just 12 seconds off the leader! What a nice close battle for the win!
Still in the 27mph group as above comes “Karol-ESZ” in 7th and “m-forby” in 8th, but we then have a long 3 minutes to wait for the next pack to come which is lead by “perswe” in 9th and “Gronen” in 10th.
Just outside the Muckers official top 10 comes “Dariusz” in 11th nicely ahead of a 3 way sprint for 12th thats won by “A2-569-DIEGO-DONATI” with “Svard” in 13th and “macko” in 14th. In a bit of no-mans-land comes “owin.d” for 15th, then a sprint off for 16th won by “KeithOldGit” in 16th just in front of “boogybill70” in 17th.
Next we have a massive pack racing for what is now 18th after the NEDs, with “El_Tractor” getting the sprint win, just in front of “RaTim” and final mention for 20th goes to “gunnnera” who is also top Farnham Road Club rider tonight.
Looks like alot of nice races going on within the race tonight and i hope you enjoyed the route.
See you all next time for the final round in this months Championship on Thursday the 28th.
Cheers.

Not the best night tonight for a Muckers double header (sorry, no report for the 2nd ride) with a toilet break needed just after the start of the 2nd route and being 90 seconds late to the start of this one due to family commitments running over. So off i set, well behind everyone, no draft and 78th place once we’d got past the 2 still in the start area. Started to catch riders while trying to hold a nice 2.9/3.1 and everytime i caught someone, i’d let off to see if they wanted to work together but it wasn’t happening. A few just tried to stay on my wheel but if they didn’t want to take a turn on the front, i wasn’t willing to just pull them along so i’d put the hammer down and try and catch the next ones.
had a good little ride with 12299z till he dropped off, then caught the last possible duo of Mikey3R and SpanishStu and we did ride nicely together for a while, but we eventually dropped Mikey then Me and SpanishgStu road the rest together, just racing it out on the long final climb near the end rather than over the line (i went for it there as i wasn’t feeling up for a sprint as i had burned out quite a few matches starting so late and doing quite alot of this route solo) I was able to just drop him on the climb and then come over the line nice and easy to take 62nd place. Enjoyed the challenge but really missed the racing in the packs in the draft.
Haven’t been on Rouvy at all this month and only decided last minute to have a go , one minute away from go and I realised I hadn’t got hrm on , mad dash to get it only to find it was out of battery so I guessed all effort would be in vain but really enjoyed the tussle in a small group of 5 and worked together well . The drafting has changed since I was last on so I kept making silly mistakes and the worse one was at the end that cost me 1 place but I was spent and puffing well
Thanks for the ride
nice to see you back mucker, its really nothing personal about the heart rate data, its a rule and it’s a blanket rule for everyone. Its just easier that way. but well done anf hope to see you on a few more!
Only my 2nd race since the new drafting algorithm was introduced and I still haven’t got the hang of it. It seems to favour a punchy surging style of riding where you are ‘on the gas’ or ‘off the gas’ at continuous intervals and a weird ‘slingshot’ effect when you can be ‘off the gas’ but somehow flow to the front of the group. The groups are big and the racing seems faster so I can see the attraction, but for this heavy diesel who likes a steady pace it will require adapting and learning how to make the best of it.
Held onto a good group for 10miles before cracking, 3 minutes solo then jumped on the next group who worked so well we made up 0.25mile to catch the original group I lost, only to crack again immediately on the next uphill section. Last 8 minutes solo, Grupedo was only 900ft behind and I considered waiting so we could help each other home but a chasing pack was threatening to catch him, so selfishly I just put the hammer down and aimed for the line.
Happy enough with the numbers below but didn’t really enjoy that one or ever feel in control.
Race stats: Age : 57, Weight : 95kg, IF=0.984
Averages : 155bpm, 276w, 2.90w/kg.
Had great fun in the late race and very happy with my P8. I did have HR data but you probably didn’t see my friend request yet.
Will or are the late races a common thing ? I can’t make the main races but can definitely do these.
Hi David, the extra/add on races aren’t a regular thing unfortunately. It really all depends if i think we can squeeze one in when the challenge routes get a bit congested, but other than that, its usually just the one race at 7pm UK.,
Now I could keep up with the main group in the first half of the race and I’m happy with that. 3.5W/kg on the small uphills always kill me soon enough and it has no sense to fight against is. While, on downhills I miss the brake not to pull away on the front.
Most of the time I went with a french guy RicouRicou, he made the perfect 2.5W/k for me, and we could do a good final head-to head sprint that I managed to win by half a wheel. A new receipe for this: closed my eyes, and just push the hell out of my body at he final 400meters. Don’t look at the screen. 🙂
Also it was nice to see Schmidti in front of me, a good old Rouvy-friend! He is still as strong as I was 1-2 years ago, and did a great job here.
Different warm up as i was mingling at university jobs fair event, promoting company among students for most of the afternoon. Nice experience, but with 8pm coming all eyes on Muckers race. Flat profile again, but at least more bumps. Very strong attacks by Erlend, who had best legs. I tried to join him here and there, but group formed back again. Yet, in the middle we were able to make a difference and six stayed in front. I tried to be active in front as next group pursued us only ~250m behind. More attacks by everyone, but big sprint finish again. 12wkg for Brian that is something i cant react no matter what i do. Best sprinters left and i finished in top5. Very good racing, thank you all and see you next time!
Quick question to the geeks among you. @Neil brought up an issue to me, if anyone has an idea: I’ve noticed since the latest versions of the Rouvy app: I’m experiencing more and more high spikes in cadence (over 200 RPM) and instances of heart rate dropping to 0.
Trainer: Elite Suito
Computer: MacPro macOS 10.15.7 (which I can no longer update)
Rouvy Mac App: latest up-to-date version
HR: Garmin Ant+
In the Rouvy/trainer settings, trainer control + pedaling cadence is done via Bluetooth and heart rate control via ANT+ using a USB dongle.
And I don’t think I have any electronic equipment in the room that could disrupt the Bluetooth and ANT+ signals.
I would make use of the sensor bridge function Elite added to the latest firmware for the Suito for your HRM so you don’t need ANT+. Also fit a cheap cadence sensor to your left crank arm and again use the sensor bridge to pull it in. Works great for us on both Direto XR-T and Justo.
thanks Rocket
Also consider if your HRM is malfunctioning? I had a Garmin chest strap on Ant+ and after a year it started spiking to 240. Exchanged it for a new one, but that one did the same thing right away. I now have a Wahoo Tickr Fit (which is an optical sensor warn on my forearm) and it is reliable on the trainer.
Tuesday race and another pacing training session with my group (Andy_UP, SillySilNL, DolphWader, and Sqallo_delli_Alpi (AKA Shark), with Mikeee73, kylofski, and stelviobound joining in a bit today). We are learning a lot about how the new Rouvy draft works and how to take advantage as a group. We fell apart a little at halfway (we’re still working on good communication while riding) and I had an appointment right after and couldn’t wait. So I soloed up, caught and two-upped with rouvy1byron for a bit, until one of my pulls was too hot. Chased down the group of TomBuilder, MNHROUVY, and jnovak74, but couldn’t drop them right away. Sat in their draft then took advantage to slingshot up the last hill with 1 km to go. Had grupedo in my sights the last few hundred meters but ran out of road. Gave him a scare, as he told me later. That is one of the fun things about Mucker races–the banter on Strava or WhatsApp or here afterwards!
Oh, sorry, just re-read this, and it’s not your HRM spiking, but your cadence sensor. But, same thing. It might be a coincidental equipment malfunction rather than a Rouvy software issue. Maybe.
hope you get it sorted, just so you know, I’ve only seen these weird spikes from your data from the 20 i check on Tuesdays and the 50 on Thursdays and is why i got in touch as I am worried whatever it is, is going to fail completely and i’ll have to NED another rider who i know is fine (cadence spikes won’t get you a NED but a full race at 200rpm might 😏) hope the advise from Rocket and Mike helps.
@Neil
Yes, I understand. Unfortunately, I think it does indeed come from the Rouvy app for my version of MacOS. I tested it tonight with the native MyElite application, and there were no issues, whereas I did experience spikes on Rouvy. The spikes are currently quite marginal and are much less visible on Strava than on the Rouvy analysis. In any case, these issues are beyond my control 🙂
If you have any doubts, I can stop the Muckers races until the issue is resolved (and if I manage to do so).
Addressing the HRM issue. I have Wahho TICKR and TICKR X and I couldn’t connect any of them to the ROUVY app. I had no issue to connect HRM to my Wahho BOLT so I have my HR data for the race. Today I connected both to the app without any hick-ups. So I hope it will work fine on Thursdays race.
hi, like I’ve said above, its nothing personal, but once I see no hr data, i move onto the next rider and on so on till i get the top 20. Blanket rule for everyone, even myself if/when it happens!
It was a great group ride with perswe, groenen and Dariusz… sorry, during the ride I realised that I forget to put on my Tickr…🤦♂️… so no heart rate data … still not used to it… but see you on Thursday with it 🙂
I always feel bad when this happens to the riders that I know are legit, like pretty much everyone whos commented about it above. But its in no way making anyone out to be a cheat, and its also why i felt it was better to just remove the rider from the result rather than slap a big “NED” at the side of the name.
see you Thursday.
Not a problem at all Neil … and what you are doing is totally consequent … the ride and the route was fun in any event 😉
It was a good work out and very enjoyable
The use of a hrm is brilliant in my eyes , it stops a lot of confusion down the line . It’s simple and effective
It was user error on my behalf that scuppered my result and I think that’s fair – I’ve plugged it in ready for tonight 😁
First race I’ve ever been mentioned, but mostly thanks to a few NEDs 💪. Hopefully I’ll make the real top 20 someday 😉 A perfect race in a group where I also managed to pull, thanks to Regina_L and Igor_B for their cooperation. It was impossible to catch boogybill70, I wouldn’t have finished at that pace. When I saw RocketRoy and his group behind our group, I expected a big drop, but we kept the group together. As a bad sprinter, I tried to take advantage of the hill at the end, but El_Tractor couldn’t be shaken off and as he waited for the very end, miicha joined and eventually they both passed me. See you all tonight.
Hi,
What is your Rouvy nickname?
Are you the RaTim I’ve been seeing lately?
Alright Muckers, here’s the lowdown on tonight’s race from yours truly, a slightly worse-for-wear but determined 48-year-old. You know the drill – Tuesdays are supposed to be for spinning the legs and building that base, but here I am again, sucked into the Tuesday night race on the Roupy to Busigny route. Brutal little course, that one, with just enough climbing (over 1300ft!) to remind your legs you’re not getting any younger.
I managed to snag a spot in a decent group around 40th position early on. We were holding a good pace, but those other racers just have another gear these days! Around the 11-mile mark, my legs decided they’d had enough and I started to see taillights. Just as the frustration was setting in, good ol’ rouvy1bryon came to the rescue, pacing me and dragging my sorry carcass back towards the pack.
Top marks to rouvy1bryon for the assist, but credit where credit’s due – a whole train of Muckers rolled past me in the closing stages. Squalo_delle_Alpi, SillySilNL, stelviobound, Mikeee, and Andy_UP – you guys were flying!
Ultimately, I crossed the line in 52nd. Listen, the top 50 seems to be a mythical beast these days, but hey, at least I finished, right? Here’s to another Tuesday night of pushing myself. Until next time, keep the rubber side down, Muckers!
So, no mention of heart rate monitor (HRM) or results here? Well, I finished 9th in this one. I’ve attended almost all of the Muckers races this month—perhaps even every single one, including some add-ons. But I won’t ever make it onto your lists then, as I have no plans to use an HRM since I see no use for it. I know my power zones, and that’s what I rely on for my training. If you want to keep up with the peloton, you need to push strong watts, as simple as that. And for those who lie about their weight, they get disqualified by the system anyway. It’s obvious to us as well if you see someone putting out 13W on climbs and 7W for the duration of the race—it’s all clear.
