Muckers Deals: Road Bikes from £999, Helmets from £19.99 & Smart Trainers from £349
Prices checked Monday 19 October 2026
Morning, Muckers! The clocks go back on Sunday, the lanes are now more leaf than tarmac, and somewhere in your house a turbo trainer is quietly gathering dust (or hasn’t been bought yet). Good news: UK retailers are still in clear-out mode, so we’ve been through the sale pages again so you don’t have to. Below are the cheapest, best-value deals we could actually verify this week, each with the price, the was-price and what you save, plus a clear Best Value Pick in every section.
Every link goes straight to the product page. Sale prices often apply to selected sizes and colours only, so check yours before you get too excited.
Road Bikes: Winter Hacks to Weekend Rockets
Tredz has trimmed its 2026 road bike range, and Sigma Sports is still clearing endurance carbon. Sale prices are often on selected sizes only, so we’ve flagged the catches.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Merida Scultura Endurance 200 (2026) (Tredz): £999, RRP £1,250, save £251 (20%). Light alloy endurance frame with a carbon fork, Shimano CUES 2×9 gearing, disc brakes and room for 35mm tyres. Sizes XS to XL were showing at £999 when we checked. A proper all-weather road bike that doesn’t make you choose between rent and riding.
- Giant Contend AR 2 (2026) (Tredz): £999, RRP £1,399, save £400 (29%). Giant’s do-it-all alloy endurance bike. The catch: the £999 price is on the ML frame only and it’s pre-order, not in stock. Worth it if you’re ML and patient.
- Giant Defy Advanced 2 (2026) (Tredz): £1,799, RRP £2,299, save £500 (22%). Carbon frame and fork with Shimano 105 and an 11-36 cassette for the hills. The sale price is on size ML, the only size in stock when we looked.
- Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport (2026) (Sigma Sports): £2,099, was £2,799, save £700 (25%). Carbon endurance bike with Future Shock 3.0 at the front for 20mm of smoothing travel. The biggest pound saving in this section, and six of the eight sizes and colours were in stock.
Muckers verdict: the Merida is the sensible head: a full size run, sorted gearing and room for winter tyres. If you’re an ML, the Defy Advanced 2 is the one that’ll make your mates ask questions.
Smart Turbo Trainers
Lessons learned from last week: every trainer below is a proper smart trainer that sets its own resistance, controlled over Bluetooth and ANT+ FE-C, so it links straight up to Rouvy for races, route rides and structured workouts. No dumb mag trainers here.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Tacx Flux S Smart Trainer (Leisure Lakes Bikes): £399.99, was £599.99, save £200 (33%). Direct-drive smart trainer with ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth, a 7kg flywheel, up to 1,500 watts and 10% gradient simulation. That’s £200 off a proper direct-drive smart trainer. Heads-up: it was listed as pre-order when we checked, so it won’t be on your doorstep tomorrow.
- Saris M2 Smart Wheel-on Trainer (Bill Nickson Cycles): £349, was £429, save £80 (19%). Still the cheapest in-stock smart trainer we found, so it stays in the list from last week. Wheel-on, with dual ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth and built-in power, speed and cadence. Want to ride this week? This is your one.
- Garmin Tacx Flux 2 Smart Trainer (Halfords): £529, was £700, save £171 (24%). Direct-drive with Bluetooth and ANT+ FE-C, up to 2,000 watts and a 16% max slope. An online-exclusive deal, in stock when we checked.
- Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 Power Trainer (Tredz): £459.99, RRP £499.99, save £40 (8%). Direct-drive with Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi, 1,800 watts and a 16% max incline, in stock. A small saving, but a cracking all-rounder if the Flux S wait doesn’t suit you.
Muckers verdict: if you can wait a little, the Flux S gets you direct-drive for £200 off. If Tuesday night on Rouvy can’t wait, the Saris M2 is in stock and cheapest.
Helmets
Proper road lids with MIPS, all at proper silly money. Sale prices apply to selected sizes and colours only.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Endura FS260-Pro II MIPS Helmet (Sigma Sports): from £46, was £100, save £54 (54%). A well-vented road helmet with MIPS. £46 is for Red in S/M; Black and White S/M are £62.
- Liv Relay MIPS Women’s Road Helmet (Tredz): £19.99, RRP £44.99, save £25 (56%). Compact women’s road lid with MIPS and a one-handed dial. Gloss Panther Black, S/M (49-57cm) only. Under twenty quid for MIPS is daft.
- Kask Valegro WG11 Matt (Sigma Sports): £56, was £185, save £129 (70%). A featherweight pro-level climbing helmet. The sale price is on size S in Blue only.
- MET Rivale MIPS (Sigma Sports): £89, was £149.99, save £60.99 (41%). Aero-ish all-rounder with MIPS, at £89 in Opal Grey (S, M and L) and Navy (S).
Muckers verdict: the Endura is the best mix of price, protection and choice. If you’re a small head in the market for a pro lid, the Kask is a steal.
Gloves
October hands need more than mitts. These are all long-finger gloves for the cold, damp mornings.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: 100% Brisker Cold Weather Long Finger Gloves (Tredz): £24.99, RRP £31.99, save £7 (22%). Lightly insulated soft-shell back, Clarino palm with silicone grip, reflective details. Not the biggest discount, but loads of sizes (S to XXL) and colours were in stock, which is more than you can say for most glove sales.
- Endura FS260-Pro Nemo Long Finger Gloves II (Tredz): from £23.99, RRP £37, save £13.01 (35%). Neoprene, waterproof, touchscreen-friendly. £23.99 is XXL only; S to XL are £29.50.
- 100% Brisker Long Finger Gloves (Tredz): £13.99, RRP £28.99, save £15 (52%). The lighter-weight Brisker for in-between days. XL in Neon Pink only, so you’ll be seen.
Muckers verdict: the Brisker Cold Weather is the one most of us can actually buy in our size today. Big-handed and fed up with the drizzle? The Nemo in XXL is a bargain.
Shoes
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: DMT KR4 PJ Road Cycling Shoes (Sigma Sports): £112, was £160, save £48 (30%). Lace-up knit road shoe developed with Tadej Pogačar. Mostly White/Black, in EU 39 to 46 (no 44) when we checked. Race-day looks, sensible money.
- Fizik Vento Omna Wide Fit Road Shoes (Tredz): from £123.99, RRP £164.99, save £41 (25%). For the wide-footed among us. £123.99 is EU 45.5 in Black; most other sizes are £130 to £139.99.
- Sidi Shot 2S Pro Road Cycling Shoes (Sigma Sports): £220, was £425, save £205 (48%). Sidi’s top-end race shoe at nearly half price, in White/Black, EU 42 to 47. The biggest pound saving in shoes this week.
Muckers verdict: the DMT KR4 PJ is the best value. If you’ve got wide feet, the Fizik saves you a winter of numb toes. If you’ve always wanted Sidis, now’s your moment.
Final Thoughts
That’s this week’s haul, Muckers. Last week we got caught out by a “turbo trainer” that couldn’t talk to Rouvy, so this week every trainer is properly smart. Whatever you buy, the best upgrade is still turning up on Sunday. See you on the road, or in the pain cave on Tuesday night.
Prices and stock were checked on the date of posting (19 October 2026) and can change at any time, including sizes and colours. Sale prices often apply to selected variants only, so check the retailer page before buying.
