Muckers Deals: Road Bikes from £799, Helmets from £19.99 & Smart Trainers from £239.99 (First Frost Edition)
Prices checked Monday 2 November 2026 *
Morning, Muckers! November has arrived and, for once, it’s arrived gently. It’s mild for the first half of the week at around 8 to 11°C, then light rain moves in from Wednesday to Friday, and by Sunday the temperature here in Bolton is forecast to drop to about 2.5°C. That’s the first proper hint of frost of the season, and with the clocks already back it’s dark before most of us have finished work. So this week is all about the kit that gets you through the switch to winter: a turbo for the dark evenings, warm gloves for the cold mornings, and lights and mudguards for everything in between. It’s the first week of the month, so there’s a Europe (prices in €) block for our riders on the continent too, where it’s turning even colder this weekend. As always, we’ve been through the sale pages so you don’t have to. Below are the cheapest, best-value deals we could actually verify this week, each with the price, the was-price and what you save, plus a clear Best Value Pick in every section.
Every link goes straight to the product page. Sale prices often apply to selected sizes and colours only, so check yours before you get too excited.
Road Bikes: Sub-£800 Starters to Carbon Bargains
There’s a genuine sub-£800 Specialized this week, but it comes with a big catch on sizing. If it doesn’t fit, last week’s pick is still sitting there at the same price.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Specialized Allez (Shimano Claris) (Cyclestore): £799, was £1,000, save £201 (20%). Specialized’s E5 alloy frame with a full carbon fork and Shimano Claris gearing, which is a proper road bike rather than a bike-shaped object. The catch: only a 54cm in Satin Maroon was left when we checked, so this is one for riders who fit a 54.
- Merida Scultura Endurance 200 (2026) (Tredz): £999, RRP £1,250, save £251 (20%). Our pick for the last two weeks and still the best all-rounder under a grand. S, L and XL were in stock in Mountain Dust Blue, with M available from the supplier.
- Specialized Allez Sprint Comp (Shimano 105) (Cyclestore): £1,699, was £2,599, save £900 (35%). The race-bred alloy Allez with 105. £1,699 is for Gloss Purple Haze/Rebel Pink in 54, 56 and 58cm; the other colour is £2,399.
- Lapierre Xelius DRS 6.0 (2026) (Tredz): £2,399, RRP £3,399, save £1,000 (29%). Still a full grand off a carbon race bike, with S to XL in stock in both Beige and Sensation Red.
Muckers verdict: if you’re a 54, the Allez at £799 is the cheapest way into a quality road bike we’ve seen this autumn. Everyone else, the Scultura Endurance 200 is still the safe bet.
Smart Turbo Trainers
Dark evenings and a frosty weekend forecast: it’s turbo season. Every trainer here is a smart trainer that works with Rouvy over Bluetooth or ANT+ FE-C.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Saris M2 Smart Turbo Trainer (Cycle King): £239.99, was £429.99, save £190 (44%). Still the cheapest way to get a proper smart trainer, and Rouvy is named on the product page. It’s a wheel-on trainer, so it works with the bike you’ve already got (a turbo-specific tyre is a good idea). It was listed on pre-order recently, so check the delivery date on the page before you order.
- Tacx Flux S Smart Trainer (Leisure Lakes Bikes): £399.99, was £599.99, save £200 (33%). A direct-drive trainer for £400. It wasn’t showing as available to buy online when we checked, so it’s worth watching rather than counting on.
- Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 Power Trainer (Tredz): £479.99, RRP £499.99, save £20 (4%). Not a huge saving, but it’s the newest KICKR CORE and Tredz had plenty in stock.
- Tacx Neo 2T Smart Trainer (Tredz): £699, RRP £859.99, save £160.99 (19%). The quiet, realistic top-end option if winter is when you do your serious training. In stock.
Muckers verdict: the Saris M2 is the bargain for anyone who just wants to ride Rouvy through the winter. If you want direct drive and can buy today, the KICKR CORE 2 is the one in stock.
Helmets
Half-price MIPS helmets are back this week, and one of them comes in every size.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Endura Xtract MIPS Helmet (Red) (Cyclestore): £34.99, was £69.99, save £35 (50%). A MIPS all-rounder for commuting, club runs and gravel, with big vents and a one-handed fit dial. All three sizes (S-M, M-L and L-XL) were in stock.
- Liv Relay MIPS Women’s Road Helmet (Tredz): £19.99, RRP £44.99, save £25 (56%). A MIPS helmet for under £20 in Gloss Panther Black, size S/M (49-57cm).
- Bell Avenue MIPS Road Helmet (Cyclestore): £39.99, was £79.99, save £40 (50%). Only Medium/Large in Matte Blue left.
- Giro Eclipse Spherical Road Helmet (Tredz): £62.99, RRP £239.99, save £177 (74%). Giro’s aero race lid for a quarter of the price, but only in size S (Black/Gloss Black or Anodised Blue). Other sizes are much dearer.
Muckers verdict: the Xtract MIPS is the one for most people: half price, MIPS, and your size is probably in stock. Small heads should look hard at the Giro.
Gloves
Sunday’s near-frost is your warning: sort the winter gloves now, not on the first icy morning.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Specialized Men’s Softshell Thermal Gloves (Cyclestore): £21.99, was £45, save £23.01 (51%). Windproof softshell with a grippy suede palm and touchscreen fingertips. £21.99 is for Hyper Green, in every size from S to XXL. Black is £39.95.
- Madison Flux Waterproof Trail Gloves (Cyclestore): £21.99, was £29.99, save £8 (27%). Waterproof gloves for the Wednesday-to-Friday rain, available from XS to XXL in Black, Midnight Green or Rust Orange (not every colour in every size).
Muckers verdict: if you can live with the green, the Specialized softshells are a cracking cold-morning glove for the price. If your rides are more wet than cold, the Madison pair is the one.
Shoes
The best shoe deals are still on odd sizes, so we’ve picked the one with the widest size run and flagged the rest.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: DMT KR4 PJ Men’s Road Cycling Shoes (Sigma Sports): £96, was £160, save £64 (40%). Third week running, because nothing has beaten it. Lace-up road shoes in White/Black or Black/White, with EU 39 to 46 listed. Check your size is in stock.
- Fizik R5 Tempo Overcurve Road Shoes (Cyclestore): £89.99, was £159.99, save £70 (44%). A brilliant price if you’re one of the lucky sizes: EU 36, 37.5, 38.5, 39.5 and 41.5, in a mix of colours.
- Specialized Torch 2.0 Road Shoes (Cyclestore): £89.99, was £165, save £75.01 (45%). £89.99 is for Vivid Pink in EU 36 and 37 only; Black is £138.95.
- Giro Stylus II Shoes (Cyclestore): £96.99, was £109.99, save £13 (12%). A small saving, but Black is in stock in every size from EU 36 to 47.
Muckers verdict: the KR4 PJ for most feet. If you’re a small size, the Fizik R5 is the steal of the section.
Seasonal Picks: First Frost, Dark Evenings
The first frost of the season is on the forecast for Sunday, and the light is gone by teatime. Here’s the kit that keeps you riding outside, or makes the trails more fun.
Mountain Bikes
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Giant Talon 4 (Cyclestore): £419.50, was £525, save £105.50 (20%). An ALUXX alloy hardtail with a suspension fork and a microSHIFT 1×8 drivetrain: a simple, tough way to get into winter trail riding. Radiant Orange in S (27.5″ wheels), L and XXL (29″ wheels).
Mudguards
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: SKS Chromoplastics 28″ Mudguard Set (Cyclestore): £38.81, was £50, save £11.19 (22%). Classic full-length guards with stainless stays and SKS’s break-away safety clip, for bikes with mudguard eyelets. £38.81 is for Black in the 35mm width. Your clubmates will thank you.
Lights
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Moon Lepus Lite & Orion USB-C Light Set (Tredz): £35.99, RRP £49.99, save £14 (28%). A rechargeable front and rear set in one go, in stock.
- Specialized Flash 300 Headlight (Cyclestore): £19.99, was £32, save £12.01 (38%). A cheap front light for lit roads and being seen.
- Knog Blinder Rear Light (Cyclestore): £25.99, was £39.99, save £14 (35%). A bright 100-lumen rear light with a tool-free strap.
Frosty Mornings
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Endura Road Waterproof Overshoes (Cyclestore): £26.99, was £40, save £13.01 (33%). Endura’s best-selling neoprene overshoes, in Hi-Viz Yellow, size S and M only.
- Fizik Tempo Artica R5 GTX Road Shoes (Tredz): £189.99, RRP £269.99, save £80 (30%). Proper Gore-Tex winter road boots, so you can skip overshoes altogether. Black in EU 40 and 41, White in EU 40.5.
- Altura Merino Long Sleeve Baselayer (Cyclestore): from £36.64, was £50, save up to £13.36 (27%). £36.64 is for size S; XS to XXL are £42.50.
Muckers verdict: if you only do one thing before the frost, get lights sorted with the Moon set. Then get the mudguards on and your feet warm.
Europe (prices in €)
A short one for our riders on the continent, where it’s turning colder than here this weekend. These are euro prices including VAT from Rose Bikes (the site is in German), and everything was showing as available when we checked (some items with low stock). Delivery costs and availability depend on your country, so check at the checkout. We haven’t converted anything from pounds, so these are the prices shown on the retailer site.
- 🏆 Best Value Pick: Rose Blend Road (Rose Bikes): €999, was €1,300, save €301 (23%). An aluminium road bike with 2×10 gearing, hydraulic disc brakes and room for 40mm tyres, so winter tyres or even light gravel are no problem. XXS and XS were sold out; S and up were available in matt black or matt salmon, with 4 to 7 working days’ delivery listed.
- Smith Triad MIPS Road Helmet (Rose Bikes): from €99.95, RRP €190, save up to €90.05 (47%). Sizes 51-55, 55-59 and 59-62cm; the cheapest price is for selected colours.
- Sidi Prima Road Shoes (Rose Bikes): from €97.95, RRP €169, save up to €71.05 (42%). Carbon-soled Sidis with a dial closure, in sizes from EU 41 up (low stock was flagged on the page).
- Ziener WS 414 Winter Gloves (Rose Bikes): from €25.95, RRP €49.99, save up to €24.04 (48%). Proper winter gloves for less than the price of a café stop for two.
- Vaude Men’s Minaki Jacket IV (Rose Bikes): from €79.95, RRP €180, save up to €100.05 (56%). A thermal cycling jacket in S to 3XL; the lowest price is for selected colours and sizes.
Muckers verdict: the Blend Road is a lot of versatile, winter-ready bike for under a thousand euros, and the Ziener gloves are an easy add-on.
Final Thoughts
If you’re only buying one thing this week, make it the Saris M2 again. For £239.99 it turns your existing bike into a Rouvy-ready indoor setup, and with the evenings this dark that’s a lot of riding you can do without leaving the house. If you’re still riding outside, which we hope you are, the Moon light set and the SKS mudguards are the cheapest way to make winter riding safer and more pleasant, and a £21.99 pair of thermal gloves will make Sunday’s frosty start a lot more bearable. Ride safe, stay warm, and we’ll see you next Monday with another round of deals.
Prices and stock were checked on the date of posting (2 November 2026). They can change at any time, including sizes and colours. Sale prices often apply to selected variants only, so check the retailer page before buying. Euro prices include VAT and “from” prices are for the cheapest variant.
