While Neil revels in his 50th birthday getaway, I’ve been tasked with stepping in to craft his race report. I trust it meets your expectations. Also I am unable to check the HR data as I am not logged into Neil’s account so for this week only I will let you off.

In the heart of virtual Italy, the wheels spun furiously as the Muckers cycling race took off with a roar. The Buonconvento to Siena route, a digital replica of the Tuscan classic, was alive with the sound of virtual gears and the sight of avatars pushing through the pixelated landscape.

Gil.Mad.io burst from the starting line, a blur against the virtual backdrop, slicing through the air like a knife through butter. His time of 55:05.9 was a testament to his unyielding drive, a beacon for those in pursuit.

Tuden of Mucker’s Worldwide, with the heart of a lion, chased down the leader with every pedal stroke, finishing a breath away at +0:00:01.3. The gap was minuscule, the effort colossal.

The chase pack was a frenzy of activity, with karel_sousek of CK Vinohradské Šlapky breaking away to seize third, his avatar crossing the line at +0:00:57.44. The crowd virtual, the applause real.

hinsbergen from Team Adam-Chris, a force to be reckoned with, powered through to finish at +0:01:56.25, while adampel of Muckers Worldwide & Team Adam-Chris showed the strength of unity, clocking in at +0:02:10.46.

The race was a cascade of determination and digital sweat. nielsbrynnum and Bruno_Kos battled it out, with times of +0:02:13.97 and +0:02:43.10 respectively, their avatars a testament to their virtual mettle.

As the top ten rounded out, names like Stefan793Karol-ESZ, and s.p. from RSC Altheim/Alb etched their marks on the leaderboard, their efforts painting a picture of virtual cycling at its most fierce.

The race was not just a contest of speed but of spirit. Riders like Dok_PSKeithOldGit of Old gits, and SMFeeney pushed beyond their limits, their avatars embodying the soul of the sport.

And as the top twenty crossed the finish line, with jakschultzyumetofu.chm-forby, and batbuilder among them, the race was a spectacle of virtual athleticism and passion.

Amidst the flurry of activity, DK Grochang stood out, not just for his impressive finish but for the sheer determination that propelled him through the course. With the heart of a lion, he powered through the 40-49 category, clocking a time that would make the real-world pros take notice. His avatar, a beacon of strength, finished with a time of 1:04:17.4, a mere 0:09:11.5 behind the leader,

Close on his heels, NL Groenen showed that experience and grit come with age. Representing the same category, he brought a storm to the race, finishing with a time of 1:04:40.80:09:34.9 off the pace.

The race was not just about the fastest but also about the spirit of cycling. PL macko, racing for rvy_racing, Qlarze, was a force unto himself. He completed the course with a time of 1:05:04.80:09:58.9 behind the front-runner.

And then there was CA MikeHagen, a titan among the 60+ category, who showed that age is but a number in the face of competition. With a time of 1:05:04.9, just a hair’s breadth of 0:09:58.10 after the champion’

But let’s not forget the heroes beyond the leaderboard. Squalo_delle_Alpi, a dual force for Muckers Worldwide & Shark Attack, and stelviobound of Muckers Worldwide, though not in the top twenty, raced with the heart of champions, their finish times of +0:15:57.53 and +0:24:09.24 speaking volumes of their tenacity.

As the digital sun set on the virtual Tuscan hills, the Muckers cycling race left its mark on the hearts of virtual cycling fans. The race was more than a competition; it was a celebration of the indomitable spirit that drives every cyclist, real or virtual.

Kyle Goodram

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle

Hey, Kyle, sounds like you really enjoyed writing this! It was a hoot to read. I will confess I didn’t do a 100%, maximal effort. Gonna save that for Thursday. I didn’t fight to go with the lead group of ten at the start, but settled in with a following group of eight. Didn’t fight to stay with them on the Serravale climb, and rode two-up with weinberg-kletterer for a bit. Went with Groenen when he caught us, and then Grochang joined us, but those two dropped me on one of the last hills. But then macko came along and we had a very wimpy sprint for 19th place. Kept waiting for him to go, and he didn’t, so I didn’t, and we drifted across the line side by side. Gonna be no holds barred on Thursday though!

A bit of big gear climbing training tonight so I rode opposite way to normal. I hid in the draft on the flats and went mad on the climbs at powers I knew would fatigue me quickly. I had no plans to join a drafting group but a large one formed and I tried to take advantage and keep to my plan. Ultimately, the longer climb in the middle spat me out the back of the group, I would have dropped on that hill anyway but the big efforts earlier didn’t help. Rode solo for the second half, had to do a more steady tempo as I tired and watched the gap to the riders behind which kept me focused and occupied.

On paper it should have been a tough race and in fact it was. Just in time to finish 7 min warup that I immediately find myself with the countdown at 14” 😅.
Good start, maybe a little too much for me, but after 3 days of rest it’s okay. I navigate the draw without a particular strategy. At a certain point I find myself working with Tombuilder and Igor.B and maybe someone else, good work but after a bit of climbing we split up. In the end I decide to pedal alone, in fact I have an agv draw of only 18% but I fought until the end for a 30th place and also a mention 😜, no final sprint with MGK1971 because even if I recovered, I followed with little strength. Today a 🦈 warrior 🤙

  4. Batbuilder says:

I enjoyed this race. Started off with a large group and then went through the “sorting hills” in which some pulled away and some dropped off the back. I partnered Jakeshultz for ages in the end we were joined by M-forby. Jake and M pulled away I almost managed to catch Mforby at the end but he was strong in the sprint and beat me by 0.3 seconds.

  5. Niels Brynnum says:

Tuff course 😅 I was able to stay with the front group until the 2nd long climb…I passed the top in 4th position only 10-15 m behind Tuden, Karel and Gil but it was impossible to close the gap 🥵we gathered a chasing group consisting of Hinsbergen, Adampel, Bruno Kos, Stefan 793, Karol-ESZ and myself. At the climbs there was some great attacks and at the last section it was only Hinsbergen, Adampel and me. Hinsbergen put in a massive attack 💪🏻💪🏻 at the climb towards the finish line, which neither me or Adampel could respond too. Adampel and I biked side by side towards the finish line, – I decided not to sprint as an acknowledgment to Adampel major effort/comeback 👏🏻👏🏻 in the race 🚴🏻‍♂️💨💨💨💨

  6. Tomáš Hloušek says:

I don’t like riding on limit from start, but profile of route preffered this. Hold in second group until the middle of the route, than I started to dropp down. The worst was, that I had stayed alone 12 kms from the finish line. I just watched my lead shrink, but finally I hold 23rd place. It’s a good result for me

    • karel sousek says:

Temperature in appartment 25c an hour before race is not best setup and i could lower it only little bit. Tough race course, but with outdoor season in full swing less riders on startlist. I wanted intensity and discomfort, as i did not race since Thu and only “recovery” rides in between. Legs protested to put serious effort, now i more than welcomed drafting adjustments as i had chance adapt during initial flat section.

Short and steep climbs followed and to my pleasure im still in top10. More than that, after few more pushes only three stayed. Tuden and Gilmad in group, nice cooperation in next sections. I was feeling fine, but when we reached final three bumps, guys flew away like rockets and despite i pushed ~400w in each remaining climb, they were able to finish almost 1min ahead. I finished for bronze medal, excellent race, thank you all who joined!
