2EARLY4 ME RACE RESULT:

Six racers finished this race, leading the charge was leo64, a powerhouse in the 50-59 age group. His blistering pace and final time of 1:16:37.3 were a testament to relentless training.

Hot on his heels, julien1 showcased the fighting spirit of the 60+ category. His valiant effort, a mere 4 minutes and 43 seconds behind leo64, proved that age is just a number in the world of cycling.

Rounding out the podium was stetopps of the WBCCC team. While third in time, his average speed of 16.11 mi/h displayed the seasoned endurance that comes with years of dedication.

But the Muckers Race wasn’t just about the top three. It was about JonB1982, andylloyd, and SOUROZA, pushing themselves to the limits. Their performances were a reminder that the thrill of competition and the joy of the ride transcend age and ability.

It’s about pushing personal boundaries, the relentless pursuit of a goal, even when the only competitor is yourself.

APRIL CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE AFTER 1 RACE OF 4:

April and we now start to see the winners ballast taking a proper hit on some riders! Gil,Mad.io won todays race but because of some great success over the first 3 months, he’s now going to feel the pain! This is now a great opportunity for the rest to finally get a win or a top 3, but don’t forget that once you get a top 3, you will also be given some ballast for the rest of the year. Its going to look really interesting ( and hopefully really close) come the Autumn/Winter months!

Another interesting turn of events for this race is what has been created by “bionicmike”s never give up attitude! a big gap in his finish time to the next rider in front of him, meant that 6 riders in the other races all finished between that time meaning they all got nice points and only separated by approx 0.14 points! This has never really happened before so a special thanks to bionicmike as that has really kept it all nice and close.

Kyle Goodram

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle

After a nice, relaxing break for Easter, I’m back in the saddle, racing in the first of the April Championship Races. I could see we had 60+ racers on the starting line, and I know that getting into the top 50 is really tough, as these are great racers. So, I set off and raced with Lyndon65, rouvy1bryon, and grupedo. We worked well together, but on the second climb, I slowly pulled away and rode with Igor_B and ardn. Coming up to the last climb, there was a large group of us, including S.Ludford and SillySiNL. As we reached the top of the last climb, SillySiNL and I pulled away, and it was just S.Ludford and I racing for the finish. I had to put in 10 W/KG to beat him over the line. It was a tough race, and well done to all. See you for the Sunday Social.

  2. Steven Ludford says:

There were no pre race arrangements for this race as nobody could predict the impact of that first early climb. I felt weak warming up, and once again, this proved to be a good omen. I went hard on the climb but tried to limit the watts to a sustainable effort for the climb distance, at the top a few of my regular ‘group buddies’ had dropped and I was in ‘stronger’ company. I was happy with my climbing on the 2nd lower gradient climb but stronger riders pushed ahead and a couple dropped back leaving me solo wondering if I could bridge to ‘Regina L’ or drop back for a fast approaching group including ‘SillySilNL’ and ‘ kylofski’. Regina was way too strong so I carried on at tempo hoping to save a little energy before the next group would meet me at the base of the final climb. They arrived as planned, Kyle & especially Silvia were strong on the climb, I desperately clung on to ‘runeholtzmann’ wheel up the climb as he dragged me back to Kyle before giving Silvia chase. I joined Kyle on the descent into town and wasn’t thinking about a sprint so when he suddenly went I had a quick ‘dig’ back but it was always a lost cause when I saw his sprint power. Very happy with the numbers and my performance on a 2000ft+ route.
    Race stats: Age : 57, Weight : 95kg, IF=0.973
    Averages : 153bpm, 276w, 2.90w/kg.

  3. FlyingPastor says:

Got really excited when I found myself riding along with MikeHagen (“Whoa, this is great! Just do what Mike does…”), then I read later that he wasn’t feeling well at the start! Hahaha! After he started feeling a little better, he dropped me on the Cipressa like Van der Poel…

Nice working with some other BlueShirters along the way; definitely made a difference for me!

    Jeff

  4. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

First Championship race in April, a little chat about Muckers strategies… (Thursday’s top secret 🤣) and so after 3 days of racing, I’m leaving with determination but I want to find a good group. I work very well with Regina, FlyingPastor, sycrel I also find the legendary Mike who in my opinion was waiting for Loudford and then I place myself inside without invitation. For a while we work well, but on the descent no one pushes and so little by little we split up. Mike is still too strong for me and I can’t catch him, also because no one really wants to shoot on the downhills. Regina recovers to us in the last hill, and 2 km to the end we also find kristoffer… a hard sprint starts, between me and FlyingPastor, but here’s the 👻🇸🇪 that materializes in front of me and my challenger too… good fight for a hard-earned 41st place

  5. Mads Grosen says:

Thought I started hard, but was surprised how far down in the field I ended after the first climb nr. 40.
Legs got better on the second climb and on the third I had to pull 5 to 6 watts to catch the group with Mike Guthinger 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃🇺🇸, Maciek Moskal and Dok PS. Glad I reeled them in before the downhill and got lucky winning the sprint for a 24th place 🙏

    • Mike Guthinger says:

That sprint finish was insane 4 or 5 of us within 10th of second. Nice work pushing the hills

  6. Bjm151 says:

What a miserable 2LATE4ME route for a lowlander like myself! Started strong and was leading up the first climb, but then my PC froze and the three behind me were gone…tried my best for a few miles to catch up to no avail as they were too strong.

  7. Mike Hagen says:

No, I was not feeling well; but it’s Thursday!  Can’t miss Thursday. The start was wretched, the first climb was worse.  Somehow survived and ended up in a nice group with Squalo_delle_Alpi, FlyingPastor, S.Ludford, Regina_L, and some others, and we reeled in SillySilNL shortly.  Badeskum was also with us, and, not surprisingly, he dropped us all at the base of the second climb.  Halfway up, I suddenly realized that I could breathe, my headache was gone, and my legs felt strong.  So I decided to make up some ground and set off after Badeskum. We played cat-and-mouse the rest of the way: he dropped me on the climbs, I reeled him in on the flats.  We caught kristoffer and Dugas along the way.  I didn’t get back on the second time until just 1 km to go. Not much time to strategize about finishing sprint tactics, my best bet was to surprise them and just go on the slight downgrade with 600 m left.  Got a gap, grew it on the next slight downgrade, was it enough? into the finish chute, and no it was not.  But both those guys are half my age. Ah well. Good fun!
