I’m not sure if its because of the title saying cool down or that ive added these after quite intense race events, but these havn’t had the numbers i was anticipating or at least who register for them. Maybe the points system puts people off? I’m still learning about whats the right way to do these things so please comment if you have anything you’d like to add from your view point?
“EdAlves” won this with a very strong solo effort and kept out front for the whole of the race and away from the chasing pack! I watched this pack with wonder! all of them switching places and 2nd place was up for grabs between 5 of then! these guys were not using this as a cool down! “wurstrolle_81” got the silver, just pipping his fellow German rider “uffzynda” who claims a very solid bronze! Next came the 2 British riders “robbiedoo” and Muckers worldwide power house “S.Ludford” who averages 320 watts for this position! 320!!! 😎
6th came “rouvy1bryon” who must have been the first to give up out of the group, finishing 24 seconds behind 2nd place, then came the lonely figure of “mucker1974” , 5 minutes behind but crossing the line with a nice zone 1 heart rate… cool down….

Looks Like EdAlves has this one in the bag with only one more route to race one. He has done every race but not the main race beforehand so he’s had a nice advantage over 2nd place Robbie who’s done the same amount of races as the leader, but also does the main race beforehand as well. His points total took a hit this week as well with the 2 German riders putting in a strong showing to get in between him and Ed. I’ve moved back up to 3rd after Patryk started this cool down race but quit just before half way so he got no points and dropped from 3rd to 5th, as Steve got enough points this race to also jump above him. So I now have to just be careful in the last race to make sure i don’t let Ste finish 12 places in front of me and i get the bronze place.
cheers everyone.

I’ve not once put an effort in on any of these city routes, just been consistent and cooled down so I’m happy to be in 3rd with a chance to keep it. will try to keep it when the final race happens though. was a small umber on this but i was watching the race for 2nd all the way on my nearby list and wish i could have seen it as the places were always swapping around all the way! well done guys and i hope you enjoyed it!
I fancied my chances of a good position on this route, ie. FLAT, so after Race1 I tried to keep the muscles warm and the heart rate busy while sitting on the ‘almost empty’ start line. Then, with minutes to go, the fast boys appeared and I’m actually glad they did as it was quite a race. ‘EdAlves’ set off like a rocket not to be seen again, super strong ride. ‘wurstrolle_81’, ‘uffzynda’, ‘robbiedoo’ and Myself followed and while we were riding fast sharing lead duties my mind started to fill with self doubt and wondering who was riding smartest. From experience I know Chris ‘uffzynda’ (should be a Mucker) and ‘Roobiedoo’ are stronger than me, while ‘wurstrolle_81’, who I did not recognise, had out-sprinted the other two in the earlier race and was happily doing some big pulls on the front. After the turn I noticed my ‘no draft’ issues had returned again and it took a while to work out I could draft the two German riders but not ‘Robbiedoo’. As we neared the finish the two German guys pulled ahead, I was now riding with ‘Robbiedoo’ with no draft , I think he hoped I would help pull him across the gap so he could be fresh for a sprint but I had nothing left and the hesitation made it too late for him to race for 2nd/3rd. In summary, I need to be stronger or race smarter, because the result was I came in last in this group and on a better day … who knows … I may get a surprise result.
wurst has been around a while! doesn’t jump on the races that often but was one of the first regulars. his strava is quite interesting as he rides a recumbent bike as well! shame about the drafting issues as you guys were all going for it for that 2nd place!
It was a superb race in Vegas! “EdAlves” soon disapperead in the dark like dracula, he bit the pedals and gone he was… The main small chasing group – where have all the other registered riders disappeared? – consisting of “wurst”, “S. Ludford”, “robbiedoo” and myself, changed positions all the time until the last km, when wurst and me managed to set ourselves apart from them, but only for a few meters between us. I was on 2nd place and as I now already know wurst, I was aware of his strengts at the last meters (see main race report), I pulled 8 Watt but still he passed me on the last 10 m to get his well deserved silver medal. Congratulations to him and to all others who had enough energy to take part here in Vegas.
This time I attach my Strava link to the event, which I usually don’t do because it’s not my show here is it? But I like the screenshots I took during the race, possibly they are to blame my bronze… 😊🤣…and you will then notice the alternating positions between the ultra-strong British wonders S. Ludford and robbiedoo, the exceptional talent “wurst” and myself.

CU next time, Chris alias “uffzyda”
Thank you for the screenshots, I did not see the lights of Las Vegas last night … just back wheels
Hi Steve, I had a 4 day break before yesterday’s races which (during these 4 days) made me feel like a young teenager growing up. My legs, especially the lower legs, hurt and it felt like it did when I was a growing boy, but that is almost 40 years ago. Maybe it’s the same now. Is something growing on my lower legs now and what could it be? 🤣😂
Yes Chris, I started riding on Rouvy to lose weight … I have lost no weight …. but I now have thighs like a German Velodrome Sprinter. At the start of every race I am an excited young boy, but at the end I am a knackered old man.
