EARLY-ON RACE RESULT:

“SHLyn” is a NED (no HR data) but as the only finisher in this race, and riding for nearly 2 hours on a recognized Smart trainer, I’ve got to give them props but please ask them to maybe look into a HR sensor going forward??? Well done though as that was some committed riding.

MAIN RACE RESULT:

80 registered | 56 Starters | 50 Finishers | 6 DNF | 24 DNS

For such a long route, 50 finishers is superb! Thank you all for having a go on this Muckers Tuesday Race Night. Tuesdays are just a free for all and you are welcome to do whatever you like! No points offered, just a regular start time, every Tuesday so if you fancy a race, those up front will give you that race you need, or if you just like to schedule your challenge routes like we do, and have a few on the start line with you, then its perfect for that as well.

So first of all who got on the podium?? Muckers Worldwide team rider “Tuden” got the gold tonight, just in front of the very strong British rider “breers33” These 2 in a class of there own tonight as the race for the Bronze place wasn’t going to conclude for approx. 2 more minutes when “hinsbergen” won a 3 way sprint to get the mention!

The rest of tonight’s mentions are going to the Sprint winners from the remaining finishers!

2 way sprint for 9th won by Mucker “nielsbrynnum”

2 way Old Git sprint off was won by “KeithOldGit”

3 way sprint for 17th was won by newbie to Muckers races “martinstepanek” . friend request sent so please accept so you can carry on with a 2nd chance of a mention in future races.

2 way sprint for 21st won by “yayarecki”

2 way sprint for 23rd won by the very quick female rider “ReginaL”

2 way sprint for 25th won by another very quick female and Muckers Team rider “SillySilNL”

2 way sprint for 29th won by Mucker “RaTim”

And the final sprint mention goes to Mucker “Rens_Piccavet” who won a very close 3 way battle for 42nd place.

Well done to the riders above, it’ll be interesting to see if these names pop up consistently or not? The new drafting algorithm does make for closer racing, so it is quite interesting that we only had 2 and 3 rider sprint races over the line. Maybe just a result of the route profile, but now most of you will start to know a sprint win might get you a special mention, even if you’re out of the “normal” top 20 mentions spots, and we might get some bigger battles?? But remember, I’m only going to class it as a sprint win if your nearest rider is around 1-2 seconds behind you. 😏. Also, It’s just a bit of fun as well for a Tuesday to just mix it up a bit as no matter what you do on a Tuesday night, whatever goals or training plan you are working too, that racer inside you just can’t get beaten over the line can it!!

Cheers everyone, Mucker1974

Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

No plan to race this one. No plan to pace. No intention of putting in any major effort. Just wanted to find some friends and ride easy. So off the line I looked for blue jerseys, seeing who was where. Found tomlerieger, kylofski, and Galen (grupedo). Tom pulled ahead on one of the longer inclines, quickening the pace, and the two of us caught Shark (Squallo_delle_Alpi) and Tomas (RaTim). I’d’ve been happy to ride with them a bit, but Tom charged ahead again, and, look, Silvia (SillySilNL) and Mads (Grochang) are next up. Go check on them! We caught them on the Kemmelberg. Second time up the Kemmelberg. Who plans these routes anyway? The Kemmelberg is hard. At the top; Silvia and Tom were a little ahead of me, Mads a little behind. But close gaps turn into large ones when you’re over the top and onto the downhill. Fully expected we’d regroup after Mads caught up. Found out later he’d swapped the belt on his Kickr and hadn’t tightened it enough. It was slipping. Finally I just sat up and waited for him. That ride was a far higher intensity than I’d planned on, funny how that works, but nice to ride with friends.

Few group strategies for this race, so I start strong and then see how it goes. I meet up with my friend Silvia, Regina and Grochang but on one of the climbs I got the momentum wrong and so bye bye… The legendary Mike arrives like a torpedo, he’s in my area for a bit but I know it won’t be a cold the excuse not to attack the next ones… bye bye.
I stay with RaTim, usually stronger than me but today I don’t understand if he’s training or if he’s tired, we pedal together but downhill and in the flat zone he doesn’t seem to want to pull. Let’s go to the sprint, it seems to me that he doesn’t participate and instead in the end after I slowed down for a moment he cheated me by 0.0.1 😜.
Today I learned a lesson, never give up the sprint for even a moment because in addition to losing a position I also lost a mention 🤣💪

I felt not very fresh during warm up so I was not sure if I should do the HIIT as Neil suggested. I went not all in after the start and was very happy to find a lot of blue jerseyy worn by Mike, Kyle, Neil and some others. We attacked every little bump but rde always together in the flat. At the Kemmelberg I saw Silvia and Mads 200m in front so I went all in to catch them before the top. I was so deep in the red (HR 170bpm) I had to stop and get rit of my dinner. I waitet for Mike an could well recover until the 2nd time of Kemmelberg. I cought Silvia again an we rode together to the finish, but no energy left in my tank for an accurate sprint! Thanks Silly for the hard fights and sorry Mike for not waiting! pedal on, Tom

  5. Kyle Goodram says:

This was an interesting race/ride. I wanted to do some HIIT sessions on this ride, which I definitely did. I just didn’t do much of the interval bit. Also, with the upcoming Muckers trip to Flanders at the end of the month, I wanted to grind out those hills. Anyway, enough talking; off we went. With only 60 starters today, getting into the top 50 would be easyish. In the end, I nearly got into the top 30. Quite impressed. Hopefully, I haven’t burnt myself out for the Thursday Championship race.
