WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.

Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)

FFP Cerro Castillo – Camino Las Ardillas | 20.82 miles | 2,631 ft. elevation.

Interesting looking route from the Community Showcase | June challenge. If you are not joining us in Italy for this years Muckers Meet up then here’s your chance to close the gap or over-take those of us who are away from our trainers!

Search “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.

Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)

Its the 2.5w/kg night and we are using: Hollywood | California | USA | 10.97 miles | 686 ft. elevation route. So quite an easy one to hold 2.5 to the end.

for those who will be attending the main race, we have a nice warm-up race using another American route: Carmel Valley | California | USA | 6.5 miles | 52 ft. elevation and it starts 20 mins before the main race. Anyone fancy an all out downhill race then pop along for this one!

Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship

Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)

Round 3 and like i always say, the important one! as it sets you up for the last round, knowing what you need to do!

We are using a proper looking race route as well: R4H Winterchallenge: Gollersattel – Albersdorf | 20.08 miles |1,512 ft. elevation from the Community Showcase | June challenge. Hopefully it’s a good route!

Search “Muckers championship” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 7 different start times. All start times included in the championship

TO FINISH OFF:

We have tweaked the auto promotion rule. You will now not just get auto promoted if you win the Category, you have to at least beat one other rider who’s done 4 races as well. I know from personal experience that getting auto promoted up to the next cat isn’t brilliant if the only reason you got it was because you finished more races than the others. Yes we want to reward consistency, but it didn’t really feel like a reward, especially when i was no-where near anyone in the category i got promoted to. So looking at how this month is going, we can see it might happen again to some other riders, so as we now know it’s not exactly right, we have just added this little tweak that you have to have beaten at least one other rider who’s done all 4 races.

We can always tweak it again in the future, but lets give this a few a months to see how it goes. It might just be really visible now due to the low numbers taking part due to everyone going outside and just picking the races they might need just to tick a challenge off and in winter, we have over 5 riders per category doing all 4 races without fail, Lets see.

okay, short one tonight as i need to get to bed as we are getting picked up at 4am to get to the airport to start our Italian adventure. Due back on Wednesday, Just in time for next weeks world championship race so hopefully see you then.

switched out from my aero set up to a climbing set up about 3 minutes before the start of the race as it just wasn’t sitting right with me that i’d be trying to climb 1647ft at the end with the heavy set up! So can i keep up with the hitters at the start on the sw1 and lightweight wheels?? i’ve tried before and been dropped so i’ve gotta be on it!

Started and went for it. The real issue is the iphone only tells me the closest 2 up front and 1 behind when racing so its really short notice when you find yourself at the back of the pack! But i quickly realized we had about 18 in the pack, so if i stayed 10th ish, i might just survive! It was really touch and go a few times as one minute you are 3rd, then you don’t really see anyone pass you, but bang, you are 18th and last in your group and only 5.0w/kgs will get you back on! But somehow i was still with everyone and we then hit the flatter bottom part, i hung on for as long as i could but i think this is where those guys had way too much power for me, and i didn’t have gravities help anymore so although i tried to stay on, the 5.0 i was doing was clearly not enough so i gave up the chase to recover for the climb!

hit the climb in around 18th place and now i was the carrot! got into 2.7s quite quickly which i was really happy with and now it was all about watching my eta for the climb abd making sure i got this finished in under 50 mins. I managed it, but got overtaken by about 12 riders in the process, but i was just focused on the cadence and the eta. “slyfly” kept me company on the climb which was nice of him so thank you for that. i honestly don’t think i could have done any better so i am pretty happy with this even though i am not that high in the placings.

    • Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

I guess the difference in time between you and me was that I stayed with the front group all the way until the climb. That’s got to be tough using the iPhones. Have fun on your Italian adventure and see you next Thursday for race 3. Looks like a fun one!!

  2. Mike Hagen says:

Fun race! Nice to have a long downhill to start with. Just sitting in the lead pack waiting for the climb. Once the climb started, the hitters were gone, and I was just trying to keep Dave12, BTK_jiri79_cz, and Sublac72 in sight. Dave and Jiri got away, but I managed to catch Sublac. Also keeping a wary eye on the chasers. Sebastien1976 made a move, then fell back. DonMatteo_07 was gaining, but the finish chute came in time.

I see I’m the only A1 rider to have done the first two June races, so I’m happy to hear the rule change about needing two riders in a cat for one to be promoted. I think that’s a good thing. I also see that if I were in A2, I’d be the one in danger of being regulated! It’s going to be fun to see how the cats sort themselves out over the remainder of the year.

  3. Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

So my goals were to try and ride with the front group to the climb and finish with 15+mph average. I saw that Bates1980 finished at 47:05.2 on an earlier race but, I thought that would be tough to match.
I managed to stay with the front group all the way to the base of the climb, check. I felt pretty good but I was steadily being passed by the stronger climbers so I just grabbed their wheels for as long as I could as they passed me. Every watt counted. DanWren past me about 1/2 way up and was riding stronger than me so I didn’t try and grab on. If I could stay ahead of the other A6 riders it would be a huge win. I couldn’t see any of them behind me until about 2/3rds up when I saw LinV about .22 miles behind me and Muckers1984 and Slyfly a little over 400 ft behind. They were working well together. Were they catching me or was it just all those stronger riders that passed me filling the gap. I didn’t want to take any chances so I did my best to hit the steep sections as hard as I could. LinV was really coming on strong. She was steadily gaining on me and I still had about a 1/2 mile left with some really steep parts left. I was pretty sure she was going to pass me but, I had to dig as deep as I could to at least try to hold her off. She broke the 200 foot gap and was still coming but, I had just crested the steepest part left so I just put my head down and put everything I had into every pedal stroke. When I finally looked up I had crossed the finish line ahead of her and was gasping for air. I finished at 15.3 mph average, check, with a time of 47:13.6. Oh so close. In hindsight I tried to think of where I could have shaved off 8 seconds but, there was nothing, I left it all on the course. It was a good day for me. Thanks to all those riders that gave me a few watts as they passed me!

  4. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

This race was interesting, I fell good after an outdoor ride of 80k, and I’m able to stay in front group until 1 km where start the hill. Strange thing when for 15/20’’ I lost velocity also if I pedal very fast and say good bye at the peloton.
I hold a good pace for all the hill, ride with many friends Ratim, Slyfly, Duckman2, Pan.rorisi and in the final I see MatthiasHeil as a hold time, 60m in front but more no many km for the finish line. I try to recover from him but also this time nothing to do, I’m very happy for my result also if stay always to the 7th position in A4.
Today finally come to me a very big Group of Muckers for the meeting and don’t see the time to meet all.
See you to the next time and thanks who ride with me 👋💪🦈

  5. Klinthomie says:

Another solo ride for me, unfortunately. I had to do the 6.30 because of family matters and no one was there – y’all really don’t come for the early ride, huh? Except for Emperor-of-Doom-70, an A1 rider, but they started 5 mins late and couldn’t join me. I could’ve used the morale boost of riding with someone.

This one was HARD. Man, I was flushed afterwards, almost puked. It is devastating to see so many A5 riders in front of me, now that I see the result, but also very motivating. I think I need to shed even more weight, if I want to do well on climbs.

The tactic for going alone was to go easy on the downhill, seeing there were many brakes, and then go hard on the climb. But once the grade is over 10%, it is simply too hard for me to “control” what pace I wanna go at. So I was just trying to survive without busting my knees.

The next two races, I think I can be part of the main spot at 19.30, and hopefully they suit me as a type better. I am very eager to do well in A5.

Hope you all have a great trip to northern Italy, wish I could’ve joined you! Be careful of Sharky and his diesel engine 😉

Having riders push from behind and pull from in front really makes a huge difference does it! As much mentally as physically. The pace partners have really help motivate me on my solo rides. I just started using them a lot recently. Hope to see you at the 19.30 race even though you’ll be miles ahead of me.
