MUCKERS 2026 JUNE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 1.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

Porto | Portugal | 13.27 miles | 305 ft. elevation

ROUVY SAY: Follow the Douro River in this unforgettable urban ride. Glide through historic Porto before reaching the Atlantic coast—where culture, river views, and sea air meet in perfect harmony.

WE SAY: TT Time!!!! We can’t believe how well everyone has jumped into doing a TT race as the first race of the month!! It really has added an interesting twist to the way we all approach the month hasn’t it, with everyone thinking about tactics, power, bike choice, wheel choice, helmet choice lol…. but all of us on that line hoping to beat a time we have set as our goal.

We even went with a shorter challenge route this month so we hope you did as well as you hoped, and if not, hey, it’s no biggy, we’ve got 3 weeks now of full on draft races to get those points in!

*Ballast added to this table

The Aim here is to get into the top 50 positions by the end of each 4 week period. If you do, you get World Championship points that are updated every month for the year.

Top 10 at the end of the Month get ballast added which is basically a percentage figure your points get deduced by and lasts for the whole of the year

We use your best 10 Months Out of 12 for the world championship.

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.

Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)

We have a proper double header this weekend!

1st we do the 7.89 mile / 3,589 ft. elevation Passo Giau | Italy route, then 90 minutes later, we hit another biggy: Giro d’Italia 2026 | Stage 19 – Passo Staulanza which is: 14.27 miles and has 3,225 ft. elevation! So all in, 6814 feet in just over 22 miles.

Are you up for the challenge????

Search “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.

Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)

2nd Tuesday of the month so its time for the 2.3w/kg event. We are using a tricky route though: Giro d’Italia 2026 | Stage 19 – Passo di Falzarego which is a climb into a long downhill. So if you know you are going to spin out on the downhill, you also know you need to get some w/kg in the bag on the climb! You have been warned lol

for those doing the main event, we have a warm-up race at 18:30 UK where we use the: Pinnacles | california | USA challenge route.

Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship

Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)

Race 2 of the month and we use the one i nearly used for the TT but felt it had too much of a sting in it’s tail for a TT effort. We are using the 12 miles long : Giro d’Italia 2026 | Stage 19 – Piani di Pezzé which has all of the 1646 feet of climbing in roughly the last 3 and a half miles! So all you lightweight climbers will fly past those heavy hitters who got the jump on you on the downhill section once the climb kicks in, the question is, is this an aero profile, or a climbing profile? what set up do you go for?? It’ll be interesting to see!

Search “Muckers championship” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 7 different start times. All start times included in the championship

TO FINISH OFF:

92 riders on a 1st round in June. Thank you all so much for coming and having a go!

for those new here, just try your best to join us for the 4 races in a month and see if you can get top 50 in the GC leaderboard above. If you do, you will get added to the world championship leaderboard that runs for the whole year.

for those in category A9, we don’t implement our HR data rule like we do everyone else. BUT, if you want to progress to A8 and beyond (by doing all 4 races and winning A9) we only allow you into the higher categories as long as you do supply it. It’s just our way to put some control in there to try and keep everyone as legit as easily as possible. This heart rate exemption is just for A9 riders, A8 and above have to supply it as much as they can, but if they constantly don’t supply it week in week out, then it’s a DSQ.

So please remember (simonjp) that if you have supplied it in the past, we will have you down as a verified rider, so if you have a hr data malfunction on another race, it won’t end up as a DSQ as we have tried to allow for these things to happen since we were released from the NITEOR shackles (that’s a joke, but we do prefer it this way rather than the black and white approach we had before)

3 races left, hope you are ready!

Please pop a comment into the comments section on how this went for you this week as we do love to read them, especially what you planned for the TT and how it went!

Thanks to those that help keep this thing going, and especially those of you that read this blog to the end. Appreciate it.

See you next week.

So Nervous on the line 😂🤦‍♂️. I’ve seen Sunnivas time from yesterday, and she’s done a 32 minute/3.1w/kg effort with a speed of 24.8mph. But i watched a few of the races and not a lot of riders chose the TT bike, which to me seemed to the best option on this route, especially if i want to try and get over 25mph average…. if i do that, i get a few points more than sunniva for a nice start to the month. ( i know we are in different categories, but we are not really! and in a race situation, she’s one of my rivals for sure!)

So 3-2-1 go, i’m out of the saddle, trying to accelerate hard to over 25mph asap! As soon as i see it, i sit down, fight the heart attack and try and remember how breathing works! I catch my breath, and now we are just concentrating on a high cadence, over 3.0 on the inclines and the on the flat/downhill sections, i watch my speed and as soon as it goes near 26mph, i’m changing up, slowing down the cadence and recovering as best i can till the next time i drop below 25. Its a constant watching of the stats and massive “wft” when i see the profile is about to go yellow lol.

I’ve got to be honest, i wanted to average 26mph but that was a step too far. i saw it a few times, but those yellow sections would make it drop to about 25.4ish and it just got harder and harder to get that average back up as the time went. But it was good to see i was quite competitive against my rivals this week. I really don’t want to get relegated again so i am fighting to stay in A6 this month with all i have.

crossed the line a few seconds over 31 mins and quite nicely into the top 50 in the GC. honestly, can’t complain… I’ll save that for next week.

  2. Mr Steven Ludford says:

TT time, I seem to have gained a reputation amongst my peers for this event. I do prefer them but I go so deep and it hurts so much.

I set a target of 30:00 but watched Bates1980 superb 29:32 earlier in day and definitely had it in mind as a longshot. Did my usual steady pace strategy but I feel I went very slightly too fast at the start and suffered for it in the final two miles. My only conscious change of strategy tonight was to increase speed 10-15 seconds before each yellow positive gradient to benefit from the free speed of the momentum hitting the ‘shallow climbs’, my raw watts in the green sections did the rest.

Slightly nervous about catching and passing the three strong guys, Klinthomie, Squalo_delli_Alpi and Duckman2 as they crush me on road races and I needed to know I could make ‘the pass’ stick. 29:46, very happy, nothing more was possible.

when i saw you come past, i did for a few seconds consider trying to just stay with you, but i didn’t want to ruin my “plan” but one day… i will do everything to sit on your wheel! one day……..

    • Klinthomie says:

Haha, I am happy to be considered a strong guy by you Steven, that’s a compliment. Didn’t feel like a strong guys yesterday. When you came up to us, I had hoped you used so much energy trying to catch us that I could rest and drop you later. But nope, you just kept on going, very steadily and smooth. I was very impressed! My legs were screaming! But thank you for pushing me that extra 15 seconds!

  3. Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

I had a very ambitious goal to average 26mph which would have put me finishing in the low 30min range but, when I looked at the previous races and saw sunniva at just over 32 min an 3.1wkg I new it was a long shot. I think the pre race jitters got to me and I started way too hot. Burned up to much energy staying over 27mph the first qtr of the race. When I saw Muckers 1974 easily pass me I knew I was in trouble. I was mashing the gears trying to keep my speed up through the little rollers so my cadence was way too low and heart rate was too high to sustain the 26mph average. I tried to raise the cadence but, couldn’t keep my speed up so I just decided to grind it out to the end and see what happens. At the halfway point I saw I was pacing Muckers1974 but wasn’t really gaining any ground and I had about the same gap behind me so I just focused on not losing any more positions. GrandadRic past me but also passed Muckers1974 so I just kept pushing. Closer to the finish Mr.SH was bridging the gap pretty quickly and I thought he would probably catch me but somehow I had enough energy to give it one last hard push across the line only about 30 feet ahead. So I finished 32nd in my heat, 44th all in with a time of 31:36:7 and 5th in my category. I learned a lot in this race regarding cadence and getting into the right gear hitting the little rollers so I feel it was a good race for me even though I was pretty far off of my much to ambitious goals. Also a shout out to VilemStrakos for a sub 31 min finish. Looks like he’s pushing for a promotion to cat6. Going to be a fight this month to stay in cat6. See you all next week!!!

    • Neil Rushby says:

great read, but it wasn’t an easy pass although it was a surprise how quickly i caught you, but the pass wasn’t easy, neither was trying to put a gap on you! I did notice you were matching my pace later on, which then became another factor i was watching as i carried onto the end. And yes, quite gutted i couldn’t keep GrandadRic between us so our points gap was bigger, but he caught me on a yellow section and just passed me like i was stood still! 90kgs and TT bike isn’t good on the yellows lol

      • Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

My 72kgs and TT bike didn’t seem to do very well either. They were killing me. It seemed like every time I got some momentum there was a yellow or two to kill it lol! My plan was to ride hard over the crest to get moving quicker but i was mashing to hard into them and didn’t have enough juice to do it very often. Oh well, lessons learned!

  4. Mike Hagen says:

Time trial time! I do look forward to these. My plan? 3.9 and bump it up to 4 in the second half for a negative split. Then I thought, it’s only half an hour, how about 4 all the way? Well, as it turned out, that was ambitious. But I got a good start, not too hot, then looked ahead for the usual suspects that start faster than me but then slow down more. Caught and passed Yumile. Caught and passed MNHROUVY. Caught and passed simonjp. Who’s next? There’s MatthiasHeil! But I couldn’t catch him. WTF? He had a great run. Even BTK_jiri70_cz, who caught and passed me, I could not go with him, barely caught Matthias. So kudos for that, and kudos to all that finished.

    • Yumile says:

I knew wolli.d’s time from the earlier race and tried to beat it. I managed it by just a few seconds. I really gave it everything I had. My second nemesis, Mike Hagen, was just ahead of me , and it stayed that way until the finish line. Respect, guys.

  5. Klinthomie says:

Looking at the profile, I thought for sure this was a race tailored to my liking. I am feeling a little bit mixed about my result. Was I fatigued? Did I pace myself wrong? Was the competition just more stiff?

Who knows. But I will start to consider my training to be a bit more … shall we say, intentional? With the purpose of progressing. Let me manifest out loud, that I hope to be in A4 (as my core category) with dreams of some day before the year doing A3.

    Shoot for the stars, right?

Don’t have many comments about the race. I couldn’t hold on to the names that I raced with last week (Ratim, Matthias, Mike) and I saw Jon (Duckman2) and Sharky creep up on me. That motivated me a lot, but I was already at my limit. Couldn’t do anything about Steven, who drove right past us, clearly on some sort of secrer mission we were not invited to be a part of.

Number 1 in A5, I will take it. Unfortunately next week is gonna be a TT for me – unless anybody wanna join me for the 6.30 slot?!

    Cheers, everybody!

  6. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

Ì choose my TT bike but no planning nothing as ever for my race, and I don’t know if should better a light bike after this route without big downhill… Good power agv also after another race before at 14, until half near 3.5, but after go slowly until 3.1. During the race I’m very happy to catch Duckman2 and Klinthomie, very high effort for me. I monitor the ride of Big S. The specialist of this route, always a bit near, I just know that Steven pass me, but I was surprised when Chris start in a second and go away from us… I push to recover from him, and in the final for few second don’t catch, I overtake Duckman for 40/50 mt (very hard effort for that). At the end good sensations but not very good result, 7th in A4 and many big names also in this month…. I battle in nobody field i think… but I try. Thanks a lot to everyone who ride with me 👋💪🦈

  7. LinV says:

Very nice to be able to make it to a Rouvy Thursday Race again. And a time trial, no less, which is always fun. June is probably the only month in 2026 I can theoretically make it to all four races (It’s OK; I’m in the perfect category already), so I really wanted to give it my best.

To set myself a target, I remembered we did this same route last year. I look it up, and I did it in 28 minutes? How? I must have been drafting the whole route. That’s never going to happen today, so I look at the watts. W/Kg 3.1, which is still ambitious for me, even one year later. I must have had a really good day then.

Anyway, so 3.1 w/kg was the goal. I always ride like a diesel train, so I find my rhythm. It was really nice to ride around ValRdz, who is usually much faster than me. But I think I’m quite a bit taller/bigger, so maybe that’s an advantage on a flat route? In the end, she jumps away, but I am actually quite happy with my 3.15 w/kg average.

Also, amazing to look at Strava and see I averaged 41.8 km/h for half an hour. When I ride outside on a flat, straight section, and there are plenty of those where I live, I can’t even maintain 35 km/h for a few minutes, unless I have a storm in my back. So, not sure about realism, but at least it’s nice to dream I could theoretically be so fast on a fancy TT bike in totally perfect conditions :).
