East Rift Valley | Taitung | Taiwan | 17.51 miles | 738 ft. climbing.
Lets see what ROUVY said about this route:
Chishang Dabo Pond is an inland wetland with both water and grassland. It was once listed as one of the ten scenic spots in Taitung, known as ‘Chishang Fishing’. Due to its favorable natural environment, the area boasts a rich diversity of animal and plant life. The route through Haiduan Township offers rich natural ecological landscapes. Riding along the scenic Nanheng Highway, you will turn onto the quiet town of Guanshan and pass through Guanshan Water Park, eventually completing your journey through the fields of golden rice in Chishang.
From our view, this was a very interesting race route. Long continues but not too steep climb for the first third, then a nice long downhill, then the last third another gradual uphill. So nothing dropping your speed under 10mph, a decent average speed attainable and even better if you are in the draft. So is it aero? we think yes, but only if you’re strong enough to keep the momentum going to allow the aero benefits to work. Like we said, a very interesting race route. Lets see how it all panned out:
133 riders set a time before any removals….
99 riders left after no hr riders removed and that’s. No 5.0w/kgs or above, and no under 60kg male riders. So 99 it is.

TOP 3 CAT. A9 RIDERS FROM THIS RACE: UNDER 2.3 W/KG
Leaderboard now has 133 riders on it so we now have a decent number to hopefully make this interesting for all for the rest of the month. Remember the most important thing is to try and enjoy yourself. All the above is just our way to try and make this training app more fun. The categories are again just a way to maybe give you something else to aim for that might push you a bit more? if it doesn’t, its not the end of the world.
Anyway, thats the easy 2 routes done, we now have 2 harder (still active challenge routes though) routes coming up so this will be a nice and tough challenging end to this months championship. Good luck everyone and as per usual, thank you for jumping on our rides and making them what they are!
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
enjoyed that! Great group, all with different strengths at different parts of the route meant we didn’t get caught by the chasing pack and finished nicely inside the top 50. Needed to do well as we now have 2 quite tough routes to finish this months championship off and need a bit of a buffer to a few stronger riders in my cat. should be interesting to see if i stay top or not.
That was not a hilly route, but it wasn’t flat either. I don’t know if I simply didn’t have the legs to go with the top group of 25, or if there was just a tad too much upslope, but I found myself in a second group of 10. It was a strong group with familiar foes like Yumile, Thomas_Lyhne, MatthiasHeil, DonJulio, Dave12, and even Chak was doing very well hanging in, and RaTim was there for awhile too. Fun group! It came down to the final sprint. Thomas lead out with 600 m to go (!!) and I tried to get on his wheel thinking we could get a gap. I always try that, it never works, but hey, maybe there’ll be a first time. But not this time, the pack all passed me and I was last in the group. Sigh.
A good route for my characteristic, I’m happy to find a little work group in a not main race time. It’s a sin that I lost the first place in A7 for 6’’ but this is the nice of the races. The battle is on 😉
Enjoyed tonight’s race… let the 60 strong breakaway 😂 go up the road and then helped coordinate the 10 member peloton on a strong but steady pace from start to finish. I was hoping Arno, stelviobound, Jeff and Myself could keep together, if anyone looked like they wanted to leave our group I would sit on their wheel until they decided to stay with us. At 23mph it was still a full on effort with a great bunch of riders, thanks all. Also, really good to see the high number of riders in the 2w/kg range, there’s a race for everyone.
