FULL NUMBER RUN DOWN:
182 riders finished this stage before we carried out our checks!
127 riders left after removing all the no-hr data riders (55 of you!)
2 male riders removed for being under 60kgs.
So 125 riders getting points this week
Very Interesting we only have 1 rider in the Elite category and zero riders in A1. I think this now proves this type of route isn’t the right type to use for the first race as too much drafting allowed for lower w/kg figures. Last months was too short but the climb profile better determined the categories. We need to find that happy medium… almost making us feel maybe next year, we do a non draft first race, TT event to better determine the categories……. but we do have the rest of the year to work it out so nothing will b set in stone just yet.
Another great turn out and although this race looked to be a good race route, watching Colin’s video shows how this wasn’t actually an amazing race route. To many sharp turns and braking zones before the climbs really stopped the flow.
Carlo was here again, but he was removed from our leaderboard down to no hr. You can clearly see from Colin’s video that this guys has worked out how to play the system so he doesn’t get a dsq from ROUVY. But we won’t have it.
We are also seeing some interesting Bikes being allowed into these “smart trainer only” races! We will start to delete any that end up in the top 10. SPIN BIKES are NOT smart! You have been warned.
That’s it. hope to see you next week and remember, bring your hr monitor!!
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
Missed the main race so struggled in the later race, just so i could get some points on the board as i reckon you need to at least finish all 4 races to give yourself a chance of top 50 at the end of the month….. well for me especially. I feel i did pretty well and ready now for next weeks!!
Well, I didn’t miss the main race and was sitting pretty in an awesome group thinking about doing some damage in the finish sprint, when, ACK! a disconnect. It happened on the little kicker with about 11 km to go. Sheer bad luck to be at the back of the group, I only lost about 10 m, but was gapped at the top of the hill and couldn’t get back on with no draft. Dang. I did catch Dave12 who was also dropped and we rode together. Then saw the group behind hammering like a steamroller. Looked like they were going to catch us! They were only 400 m back, then 300, then 200, then less than 100, where the *h*ll* is the finish line. It came up just in time, only 0.3 seconds to spare! I was wasted. Now I’m looking at the A Categories and see I’m in A4 with folk like Badeskum, BareRemi, and Stefan793. All that work with 9% average draft staying ahead of the chase group and cranking up my average W/kg–and where did it get me. Gonna be fun!
I know that this month will be harder to do an optimal result a cause of a course of drive license, but I try to ride all the race 🤞. First time that I rode in 16.30 slot time but for lucky I find some riders… but the race was enough strange and strong. Let’s go and a few minutes lost the front group of 4, behind of me another of 3. Usually I should wait but for this time want to try to push more hard, with only 1,9% draw I give 1.3 km at behind group and my time is good also vs my usually opponents… but in my Cat find different riders 😅🧐.
Cheers to everybody 👋🦈
Mexican poke bowl for lunch before Muckers evening salsa in hill-less route. Like a week ago, i had did not feel strong legs, so my goal was stay with top contenders and then everything can happen. Pace was not in rush after start, but then few attacks came and as a gamification bonus we had beloved CC riding with us 🙂
I was wrong, it was not completely flat and two main bumps did final damage. I got almost dropped, because i followed Tijs / Velobuch in early attack and then almost missed shinkanzen train over first bump. With help of Gilmad we got back, suffered over other mini climb and then we were less than ten.
One or two big attacks by Erlend / Tijs under 5km to go, everyone dancing mexican salsa and we came to sprint finish. I started early knowing i have nothing to loose and it quite worked. Super race, these when you are not feeling best, yet can finish strong, are the most valuable. Thank you all who joined us!
With issue with my shifter i decided to ude only the harder gear. I suffered in all corners and kickers (on tops I had only 42 rpm). Over the longest one I had to shift, and fortunately I could get down on top gear again. I could stay in group untill the end but without any idea to sprint. Nearly all of the race I was drafting and sucking wheels of the others, so my thanks and sorry goes to them. I’m happy with results and with new string I’m looking forward to next race.
After a two-week break from Championship racing – largely thanks to the “gear gremlins” and dropped chain dramas I’ve been battling (as any Mucker knows!), thankfully I finally kitted myself out with the Zwift Cog and Click system. You can read all about my gear woes and this game-changing solution in my article ‘From Gear Hell to Shifting Heaven: Zwift Cog & Click Saved My Muckers Racing!’. And let me tell you, what a difference! This race felt completely different. For the first time in ages, I could actually focus on the race, keep up with the pack, and even managed to grab 3rd place in my category! Now, first place is definitely on my radar. Catch you all on Tuesday!
