We are getting a lot of comments about the Categories. can we just ask to please just relax about them as it’s still a work in progress. We are not 100% sure how it works and if its calculating per race or per month, just basically observing how it changes as we hit different buttons and options after every race at the moment. If we don’t like what its doing, then we will not bother with it for next years championship as bonus points add on.
ROUVY ROUTE USED:
GWA Iceland | Stage 6 – Along the JΓΆkla River | 22.15 miles long | 1,565 ft of climbing
EXTRA TIME SLOTS REPORTS:
2LATE4ME Just had the one finisher! Is this how this route is going to affect todays attendance as its not exactly an easy route! hope not, but well done to Muckers Team Rider “cdtchris” for a completely solo effort to the win!
2EARLY4ME Has a better amount of finishers, but only 3, so, only the winner gets a mention! so well done to “gregkiwi” who gets the mention and a well done for supplying all the data we need!
RISE&RIDE crew get it going properly with a nice 8 riders finishing with “STADLER-TONI” getting the win, “Hans.Holm.Moeller” getting 2nd and “Djino” in 3rd. And all 3 with decent data as well! Thank you!
EARLY-ON gets 6 finishers and i managed to watch some of this while eating my lunch! We had a top 4 on the climb, but 2 Muckers were on Disc wheels and got dropped by the 2 on normal wheels…. and that’s where i left it and had to get back to work, but later on we hear on the chat that the 2 Muckers reigned in 1 of the normal wheels riders just before the line to claim the last 2 podium places for the Muckers! So do you go normal wheels or disc wheels for this race?? Well done to “andycer” for the win, “Mick_Michel” for the Silver and “SwissChris69” for the Bronze. Wish i could have watched fight back as it sounded epic!
LATER-ON gets 4 riders over the line which means a top 3 mention! 1st place, and last weeks 2nd place surprise in the main races comes “Svard” for the Muckers Team, “CadenceMarksters” in 2nd and “superbock” in 3rd but no heart rate data for this last rider.π₯
But what a difference to last weeks so well done for dusting off the heart rate straps Extra Time Slot Team! Thank you!
MAIN RACE REPORT:
220 registered, translates to……… 117 finishers from 140 starters! That’ll do nicely for this route!
Watching/listening to Inside Cycling Worlds video while i type this blog, I can report the top 5 could have finished in any order! But “BareRemi” gets the Gold, “breers33” the silver , “ErlendSundstrom” the Bronze, with “Alieno79” getting 4th and “karel_sousek” getting 5th. But give Colin’s video a watch and watch this ending at is was superb!
6th gets awarded to “przemokrk” , 7th to “Gil.Mad.io” , 8th to “FlyingSkywalker” then a short pause before the next 6 riders to come flying over the line! These 6 finish in the following order: “Badeskum” in 9th, “Stefan793” in 10th, “TijsV” in 11th, “lrollin” in 12th, “IvanSagan86” in 13th and “millony” in 14th.
The next 6 places for the top 20 mentions are split between 7 places so someone just misses out on a mention. 15th comes “nielsbrynnum”, 16th “Jenssorli”, 17th “Grochang”, 18th “Stefan_Schmidt”, 19th “Dok_PS” and final mention to “stephane-martin” in 20th place!
Well done to you all as this route was a lot tougher than it looked so to get top a top 20 mention today wasn’t easy at all. you should be proud, but also everyone who crossed the line, well done for not giving up on that hill that just never seemed to end!

Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
70th place in the championship now and it really does look like this will be my first month i don’t get to the top 50. I had a poor first race as it was a hill climb and although i can climb all day, i am not the fastest. I then missed the main 19:05 draft-fest last week and just managed to jump on the Later-On but with only a few riders to work with, it was never going to be a great result. So to round 3 and i just couldn’t decide what the best option was? discs for the flat? or lightweight to get me up the climb? I went with discs and just thought i’d put in all my efforts to haul them up the climb and hopefully get some payback later π€π€π€π€π€
3, 2, 1 Go…. didn’t go! weird glitch at the start just saw my speed stay at 5mph for a good 10 seconds even though i was pulling decent power, i was just about to turn the bike off and on when it finally kicked on. BRILLIANT!!! so i’m now 80 something when really i wanted to be as high as possible before the climb!! Not my month at all! Anyway, pushed on and got with a nice group with fellow Mucker Jeff65 and just decided to stick it out with these guys and try and save my energy for the climb.
got to the climb and i think i was just inside the top 80. got settled in and tried to stay above 3.0 all the way up. needed zone 7 hr to do it but i did it and i managed to overtake a few and not get overtaken. But as i approached the 2nd smaller hill, i knew i was never catching the group ahead but i could back off and let ogoo re catch me and bikeanddogtrips was also coming, who i know is a very strong rider and totally out of position, but maybe they might want to work as a team to try and catch the group ahead?? So we crest the hill together ( which isnt easy when you are knackered and the guys behind are closing fast) and we set off after the group ahead. We did work brilliant together and first started picking off the riders who got spat out the back of the group up front but then with about 5 miles left, they were half a mile up front and we just kept the pressure on and slowly caught what seemed a massive group within site of the finish line! 3 of us!! caught a massive pack of very strong riders. But i was now done in, got in the draft, the pack split, i couldn’t go with the first pack so stayed with what seemed 4 riders and won that sprint over the line! 69th. and absolutely spent. That was epic for me and the hardest i’ve worked for a long time. cheers to everyone who made this great, apart from my smart-bike which nearly ended being thrown out the window at the start!
Complicated race both on paper and during the ride. Choice of cadex 65 discs, I didn’t trust the TTT ones. I don’t know if it was the best choice, in the long climb I still lost 10 or more positions, on the descent I made a difference but I’m not convinced. Thanks to Kin_kwan who literally held on on the long climb… Controversial note, I hope there is an upgrade on the discs, because for example on the climb I broke away from Pan.Rorisi for over 200 meters and then he managed to follow the draft of one with Ttt discs and overtook us like a rocket, eventually gaining more than 10 positions… the values ββare off. Returning to the end of the race, I see Neil arriving in the last 700 m, when he passed me I relaunched, splitting my group and at the end a great sprint sprint between full and not full discs… this time it went well for me ππͺπ€
Hello, because it’s about me (Pan.Rorisi) I want to clarify. I didn’t ride on discs. I caught the wheel of an elite rider (Diego Donaty) who had a late start and rode on 3.8W using discs and I keep close to him ~2m with about 80W draft. It wasn’t easy for me but I really gained a dozen or so positions. I think there was no cheating here, it was very real, a strong rider and a steady pace, I saw that they were coming and I used it wisely like in life. best regards, Mr. Rorisi
Hi Mr. Rorisi thank you for clarifying and being so articulate in your reply. I would have done exactly the same. When it works for you its great, but when it all works against you, it is just so frustrating. ππ
No one is saying anything about cheating Mucker. hope you comment again in the future!
Hy, I donβt think that you have wrong ride, I mentioned you only because i see you near me. The tactics are correct for you, I wanted to explain for my opinion, that concept of wheels must a little improve to avoid such significant performance changes. π
Tougher race than it looked on paper. Great teamwork back in midpack as we all tried to get a good tempo driving after ye Olde climb. Still confused about Rouvy results posted vs finish results published as they always seem to differ a bit. Must be great late starters and addtional race results though. Almost went for disc wheels but that climb looked a bit long for the added weight for my feeble power output.
I know Iceland like i would be born there, so many rides there recently. Here comes race of the week with best Rouvy athletes. Challenging route with one painful climb shortly after start. We can call it drafting climb, but to be honest i do not remember anything how much i saved, while riding behind Premek / FlyingSkywalker. I noticed we are getting little gap at the end of climb, so pushed myself last time to get among five leaders.
Now what? Business as usual i would say. Surprisingly no one attacked in next little bump, Alieno looked weaker a bit, but think it was just tactic. We focused keep up half kilometer distance between us and next elite group with Premek and Gilmad. Big sprint finish, but no chance. Last thing i remember was 16wkg by Remi, who took big win. Awesome racing, thank you all who joined us!
Big group together the first 10 km, then we had a hill. Remember the hill? 4 km at 6%, a 3 km reprieve, then 2 more km climbing. Not so ghastly, *unless* you’re trying to do it at maximal. Which we were. Doing one’s best 10 minute power of the year hurts, you know? Halfway up, our group had formed: me, macko, m-forby, brampaulussen, tranberg, and galbu. We were mid-20s, and that is where we stayed. Bram tried to get away on the second ramp of the climb, could see from his Strava that it was a big effort, but I don’t think the other five of us were too worried. He got about 200 m up, but we reeled him in on the long downslope. So it came to the sprint. I was fortunate to be the one immediately behind galbu when he went with about 250 m to go. Jumped on his wheel and got just enough draft to hold the others off. Except Bram. But watching Colin’s You Tube, it’s clear that if the race had been 10 m longer I’d’ve been last among us six, not third! Whew. Kudos to all that finished!
Great race and competition, unfortunately I was 250 meters short of the best on the 4 km climb to stay in the main 5-person group, but I’m still happy with 6th place and good cooperation with FlyingSky and Gilomad. These categories are nonsense, BarRemi now has cat A2, nonsense, and he won the race.
A great race with a tough double climb. At the end of the first 3km climb I had to let the first group go, I was at my limit. A good group formed when Gil joined from behind. When I tried to sprint at the end I got a serious leg cramp. Luckily the route went downhill in the finale, so I was able to roll the last 200 m without pedaling… Happy with P8 π
I’m also being shown in wrong age group in Niteor results. 50-59, flattered but unfortunately 65. I’ve reported a previous issue to the email they provide but no response. Hopefully they can get things sorted out.
Update – successfully registered on Niteor now. You all probably know this but you can enter correct data in the app for your FTP (category basis?), etc. All my Muckers races are showing data where I would expect.
Was a great race last week, was in the lead group at the start hanging on but got a glitch and dropped back to around 60th, managed to fight back to 42. Has a nice group for the most part but could close to the group up the road!
