Rouvy’s Price Hike: A Mucker’s Guide to Saving and Deciding What’s Next

Rouvy Price Hike

If you spend any time in the pain cave over winter, you’ve probably seen the news that’s been doing the rounds: Rouvy is jacking up its prices. For a lot of us Muckers, Rouvy has been the go-to platform for its real-world routes and, let’s be honest, its friendlier price tag compared to the big Z.

That’s about to change.

This isn’t just a small bump; it’s a major strategic shift that puts Rouvy in a direct price fight with Zwift. So, what does this mean for us? Is it time to ditch Rouvy? Or are there ways to be smart and keep the costs down? Let’s get into the muck and break it down.

The Damage Report: What’s the New Price?

First, the bad news. From July 15, 2025, Rouvy is aligning its prices directly with Zwift. Here’s the snapshot of the new monthly cost for a single Mucker:

  • USA / Eurozone: $19.99 / €19.99
  • United Kingdom: £17.99 (a massive 38% increase!)

This price hike hits everything, including the annual and multi-user plans that were a huge draw for many of us. The Duo plan for two riders will now be $29.99/month, and the Group plan for up to five of us will be a hefty $59.99/month.

The Muckers’ Playbook: Tackling the Price Hike

Okay, that’s the damage. But before anyone panics and cancels their sub, let’s talk strategy. As Muckers, we don’t just take the hit; we find a better line. Here’s how we can tackle this head-on and keep our virtual riding affordable.

The most critical, time-sensitive mission is the price-lock. Rouvy is giving everyone a window to lock in the current, cheaper annual price for another 12 months. You have to make the switch to an annual plan before July 15, 2025. This is a no-brainer for any dedicated Rouvy user. It’s a full year’s reprieve from the price hike.

Next up is Rouvy’s secret weapon and a massive advantage over Zwift: the pause button. If you’re a fair-weather Mucker who rides outside from spring to autumn, you can pause your subscription for up to 180 days. You don’t get billed, but your account and loyalty status are safe. For a Mucker who only trains indoors for six months, this effectively cuts your annual cost in half. This is the single best way for seasonal riders to save.

Rouvy also rewards Muckers who stick around. Their Loyalty Program gives you an escalating discount on your annual subscription. The longer you’re with them, the more you save, with discounts starting at 15% and going up to 24% after three years.

Finally, this is where we can really team up. The old “Family Plan” is gone, but the Group Plan for up to five riders is the new frontier. Get five Muckers together, split the annual plan, and the per-person cost drops significantly, making it a powerful strategy for dedicated training partners.

The Main Event: Rouvy vs. The World

Even with these savings, the price hike forces the big question: is Rouvy still the right tool for the job? With the price now the same, the choice between Rouvy and Zwift is no longer about your wallet; it’s about your soul. What kind of rider are you?

But it’s not a two-horse race. For the same or less money, you could look at:

  • TrainerRoad ($21.99/mo): For the data-obsessed Mucker who wants pure, structured training to get faster. No graphics, all gains.
  • Wahoo X (SYSTM) ($14.99/mo): Now the best value proposition. It offers intense cycling workouts plus strength training, yoga, and mental fitness. A complete package for less.
  • MyWhoosh (Free): For the Mucker on a budget. It’s a solid Zwift alternative that costs nothing. It’s getting better all the time and is perfect for keeping your legs spinning without opening your wallet.

The Muckers’ Final Take

So, is Rouvy still worth it for us?

Yes, if you’re the right kind of Mucker. If you use Rouvy to pre-ride real-life sportives, to explore iconic climbs, or if you’re a seasonal rider who heavily uses the “pause” feature, it still offers fantastic and unique value. By using the cost-saving strategies, you can make the effective price very competitive.

No, if your priorities lie elsewhere. If you crave the buzz of a massive community, constant races, and a game-like experience, Zwift offers a better product for the exact same monthly price. If you want the absolute best bang-for-your-buck fitness tool, Wahoo X is the new champion.

Our advice?

  1. If you’re staying with Rouvy, LOCK IN THAT ANNUAL PRICE before July 15th.
  2. Be honest about your riding style. Use the free trials. See if Zwift’s social chaos or Wahoo’s holistic training is a better fit for your goals.
  3. Talk to your teammates. A Group Plan could be the most cost-effective way forward for a committed crew.

The ground has shifted, but we’re Muckers. We adapt, we find the best line, and we keep pedalling.

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle
