Steamboat Showdown and Epic Dividers: SBT GRVL and the Call of the Wild

Alright Muckers, grab a brew and pull up a chair. The summer is well underway, and the off-road calendar is hitting a fever pitch! From high-speed gravel shootouts in the Colorado Rockies to self-supported ultra-endurance odysseys that stretch across continents, we’ve got a bumper crop of epic stories to chat about this week.

Here is your weekly roundup of the off-road news that caught our eye!

Swenson and Villafañe Reign Supreme at SBT GRVL 🤠🏔

First up, we have to head over to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where the champagne gravel was flying. SBT GRVL once again proved why it’s one of the crown jewels of the gravel calendar, attracting a world-class field of racers.

In the elite men’s division, the unstoppable Keegan Swenson did what he does best: broke the race wide open. Launching a savage, solo attack with nearly 20 miles to go, Swenson rode alone into town to take a spectacular victory. Over in the elite women’s race, Sofia Gomez Villafañe showed absolute class and tactical mastery, out-sprinting her rivals to secure a massive win and cement her status as the queen of the gravel scene. Both riders displayed the kind of raw grit and pacing that makes us want to go out and crush our own local segments!

The Tour Divide: The Ultimate Test of Self-Supported Grit 🗺🚴

From the fast gravel of Colorado to the ultimate endurance test, the legendary Tour Divide is well underway. Starting in the crisp alpine air of Banff, Canada, riders are currently making their way down the spine of the Rocky Mountains, aiming all the way for the Mexican border in New Mexico.

This isn’t a race for the faint-hearted. It’s a 2,700-mile battle against mountain passes, volatile weather, sleep deprivation, and mechanical issues—all completely self-supported. Watching the tracker dots navigate the Continental Divide is a masterclass in human resilience. These riders are carrying their own bivvies, searching for food at remote gas stations, and sleeping under the stars. Hats off to everyone out there dot-watching and pedaling through the wild!

BC Epic 1000: B.C.’s Rugged Off-Road Traverse 🌵🍁

If the Tour Divide wasn’t enough to satisfy your hunger for epic trail stories, the BC Epic 1000 kicked off on June 27th. This rugged 1,000-kilometre route traverses the breathtaking but brutal valleys and mountain passes of southern British Columbia, Canada.

Riders follow a mix of old railway paths, singletrack, and remote logging roads, tackling over 11,000 metres of elevation gain. It’s a spectacular showcase of community spirit, where local trail angels support the riders, and the wilderness of Western Canada provides a dramatic, unforgiving backdrop. Whether chasing the course record or simply aiming to finish, everyone tackling the BC Epic is a true Mucker in our eyes.
