MUCKERS 2026 JUNE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 4.
ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:
Clonakilty | Rosscarbery | Ireland | 13.65 miles | 942 ft. elevation
ROUVY SAY: Starting in the town of Clonakilty we take the coast road and the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ heading West through quiet villages and finishing at the town of Rosscarbery. Rolling hills and beautiful Irish countryside await.
WE SAY:13.6 miles? and only 942ft of elevation?? for a world championship race??? Yes, why not 🤷♂️😏. Sometimes we just get lucky with challenge routes and end dates that we just have to use these shorter races, so enjoy them while they are there as you know, these are not “typical” world championship routes. It was a great little race route though and i hope you had a good race!
60 riders set a time and kept to our rules and we even had a joint first on the main race, but as we always do, we use ROUVY’S leaderboard as the results order so that’s why Erlend gets the nod! But looking at the results below, it must have been a very close finish between a lot of you!

WHATS NEXT TO COME:
Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.
Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)
Tour de Suisse 2026 | Stage 1 – Sondrio | 29.05 miles | 3,176 ft. elevation.
Start in the vineyards and mountain roads around Teglio and ride west through the heart of the Valtellina valley. The route rolls along the Adda River, passes quiet villages, twisting hillside roads and historic wine-growing landscapes before finishing near Sondrio beneath the surrounding Alpine peaks.
This looks like a really nice Sunday Ride out this and not a long continuous slog! looking forward to this one.
Search “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.
Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)
Randazzo to Bronte | Sicily | 10 miles | 1,014 ft. elevation
Ride out from Randazzo onto quiet volcanic roads beneath Mount Etna, winding through lava fields, forests and remote Sicilian countryside. Rolling terrain and open mountain views give this route a wild and isolated feel deep in eastern Sicily.
The 3.0w/kg week!! We do this special 3.0 version on any moth that has 5 Tuesdays. We have chosen a challenge route that can “help” us get as close to it as possible as its a climb and a climb makes you stay on it all the time and not rest in the draft or a downhill. it does look like it ends on a downhill so be ready for that! Good luck!!
P.S. we have scheduled a warm-up race at 18:40 using the newly released 7 miler: Paris – The City of Love if you feel you need the warm up??
Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship
Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)
Castelluzzo to Torre dell’Impiso | Sicily | 14.02 miles | 1,145 ft. elevation
Start inland near Castelluzzo and ride towards the cliffs and turquoise coastline of north-western Sicily. The route winds through San Vito Lo Capo, passes quiet coastal roads and finishes above the sea near Torre dell’Impiso, with sweeping Mediterranean views beside the Zingaro Nature Reserve.
THE TT RACE!!!! tricky challenge route to kick of Julys championship but its got some elevation this time so will it still be the TT bike? good news is it’s “short” and looking at the current leaderboard, the fast times will range from 30 mins to 45 mins so can we get in that bracket with no draft? Lets see…….

TO FINISH OFF:
Well done to Stefan793! I’m not sure if this is the first month you’ve won, but what a way to get the maximum 60 points in the bag! Considering you were running with 3% ballast as well, that’s a very strong month indeed. 2nd place goes to new to the championship Tim_Hall and it would be great to hear from the American rider in the comments, even just to let us know how he found us and if he’s enjoying!? Then in 3rd we have lrollin! This French rider always seems on the verge of having a rest from the Muckers Championship, then he smashes out a podium month! Well done Mucker and we will be watching to see if you win A2 next month!
I love doing this last blog of the Month! Even with the low numbers we have at the moment, it’s still good to see who got promoted and relegated in the Cats, especially in category A4 which had 26 riders in total in the leaderboard just for that category. Relegation for simonjp isn’t a bad thing, like we’ve said many a time, what’s the point in not having the chance for category bonus points each month by constantly finishing 5th/6th etc, you might as well drop a category and fight for those extra 10 points next month, then come back up again! Remember its all about getting the best 10 months scores out of 12 months for this years world championship, NOT what category you are in!
So all the above category ups and downs are auto promotions apart from 2. All the auto ones are done in conjunction with our rules stated further up the blog, but the other 2 are ones we feel need to/should be done down to good consistent racing, and just to see if these riders enjoy being out of the bottom 2 categories, especially as they also did enough this month to get into the top 50 overall placings in the GC. They only miss out on auto promotion due to lack of consistent competition so we feel a move up is move than deserved. So Good luck to Stelviobound and EatmorCake, we will be watching how you do next month.
World Championship GC and blog will be updated in the next few days and it also show the new ballast scores that have been applied to this months top 10. Keep an eye out for that!
Thanks as always for taking part this month, hope you enjoyed the 4 challenge route races , please jump into the comments if you can and thank you all for reading this to the very end, appreciate it.
Mucker1974

bad start again due to strange lack of resistance glitch i get at the 3-2-1 part of the start, meant i was in the 40th places straight away as i got the bike up to speed. Shame as i wanted a rocket start today to get as much draft along the green bit to the climb.. but it didn’t happen so had to work with what i had. Luckily for me Andy_UP had a bad start and as he came past, i jumped on with him up to the climb. climbed at 3.1/3.2 and just caught stelvio at the top of it, in the hopes we could work together for the rest.
A few times i had to back off to tease him to keep up…. then he’d power past me and i’d only just about jump on his wheel lol. but we soon figured out our way and we worked pretty good all the way to the last incline. I was in 2 minds about the end sprint, seeing how stelvio had these little burst in his locker so i went early on the last incline, hoping i could keep out the saddle all the way to the green section which i did and felt safe enough to relax on the downhill and just keep him out of reach.
really enjoyable race after the crap start, and quite pleased with top 3 in A6 which i feel is “my category” and hope to stay 2nd or 3rd for the rest of the year lol (don’t want promoting to A5 again that’s for sure!!)
I was expecting you to be in the front group on the green but glitches on the start suck and the only chance to grab on to those rockets is with a great start. Well we won’t have to worry about that next week with the TT.
true but i’m still expecting the horrible start issues where i loose all resistance and start at 0.1mph and even at 8w/kg it increases slowly…. yes! got my excuses out already lol lets see how it goes as its long enough for a poor start not to matter as much…🤞
That was a nice course to race. Got a good start and was in with the large lead group. I don’t know if the top guns were taking it easy the flat first 6 km, just waiting for the one climb and the rollers after to settle things, but that’s how it seemed. The climb broke the group up. I was doing low 4s and watching the leaders ride off. woll.d caught me, no way was I letting him get away from me. Together we caught Yumile, and from there to the end we battered each other, no one giving quarter. I tried an attack near the top of the last rise with a km to go, only got a 6 m gap. That didn’t work. Got in behind those two for the finish sprint, but when they went with 200 m to go I could keep up but not get ahead. That was a fun one!
Indeed a beautiful route! I dunno about the others in the beginning, but I was spinning out most of the time, and I don’t have small gearing. So maybe that was why.
that sounds like a fun one as well! well done Mucker, that was a nice and strong consistent month! Good points haul!
I was like a tractor this week. Found it really tough on that route. Im off to A5 though so might have to start swapping out the chips for rice lol. I probably need some of those red shells they have in mario kart racing the A5 bunch
See you in A5, Paul. Will be nice to “compete” with you again 🙂
Better start doing my star jumps now to warm up 😂😂
I can’t lie Paul, I’m kind of glad you’re not in A6 any longer. LOL!
Lol i will be back next month 😂
you’ll do well in A5 Paul, you’re too strong for A6 so will be good to see how you do.
Yeah im kind of in a weird limbo between A5 and A6 but should be fun. Just need to stay consistent and get all the months races complete so i stay up there
So my trainer is dead, when I opened it up it was ugly. I have barrowed a trainer from daughter. Luckily she never uses it and she was more than happy to lend it to me. It is an on wheel trainer, paired with a gravel tire it is loud, like really loud, but it is a lot faster than my broken trainer. I just turned the music up. I’ll be on this trainer until I get a new trainer sorted. It’s been a tough month for racing so I’m glad I have something dependable even if it’s temporary. I knew the start would be fast so I jumped off the line, I found a group of 6 familar riders, I think we were the second group on the road. I was able to stay with this group until the climb. That was my goal for the first part of the course. Then power up the climb. As usual the climb isolated me until Neil caught me. A6 vs A8 I knew it would be tough holding his wheel but I thought why not. Neil was kind and let me hang on until the final uphill. I happy sitting here this morning, I finished the month strong, I have a dependable trainer, I’ve been promoted to A7, and I recieved 10 bonus points.
Glad you got your trainer issue figured out for now.
Great month Mucker, How good is it that you are sat there happy! That’s so great to read. thank you.
All fun races this June!
all were difficult battles and I have no stand out results, but I blame the heat haha, yesterday with 32 degrees in my apartment I was a little at risk for heat exhaustion… but luckely the motivation to keep pushing was stronger than that 😉
Thanks for jumping into the comments Bart. Next you’ll be doing 4 weeks and getting some really good points in the bag! If i am not mistaken, i think this is the first time you’ve been top 50 at the end of the month? (not done the worlds GC yet so i am sorry if my memory has let me down there….) Well done!
yeah thats true, thursdays used to be difficult with work so I was mainly racing the other Muckers events, but I can finally join a few more now, maybe even compete in the rankings sometime later this year.
see ya
I totally agree with Bart, very nice races this month! This one was exactly a correct route for a fun race, too short climbs at my taste but it was OK. Always in heat wave here in France, I still ride the morning at 10:30AM, but now we have our routine with Tim_Hall and enry1963. All three of us have almost the same level (Tim is in fact the best…), this means that we can draft together for the flat sections, and have great motivation for the climbs. The reference is Mike and Wolli, this time just behind them, last week in the middle of them…
I am happy to be 2nd A3 this month and get the extra bonus points!
Now summer is coming with the holidays, not sure to be able to race, I need to find a portable trainer!
See you soon Muckers!
Hey Mucker, thanks for the comments. Again, its great to read about riders being “happy” with the concept and what we are trying to do.
Just having a quick look at the worlds, luckily you’ve scored every month so you still have 2 months of low scores which will be deleted and with a “worst” score of 43 at the moment, so that’s your buffer! I think a lot of riders would love to be going into the summer with that in the bag! Have a great holiday and we will be here when you come back!
That was a fun course. Flats to start, just enough climbing, and some rollers to finish. My goal was to focus on average speed and shoot for 21 mph. If I could grab onto the front group, stay with them until the climb, and push hard on the climb, I might be able to achieve it. I had a good start and was able to stay with the front group all the way to the climb so my speed was really good. As usual, the stronger riders all pulled away from me but I did manage to get a few short pulls as some of them passed me. I saw DanWren creeping up on me and expected him to glide by as usual but, the hill was just short enough to keep an about a 400 ft gap when I crested. I rode solo on the decent so I had to push it harder than would have liked but, my speed was still good so I just kept pushing it. I hit the rollers as hard as I could and on the second one I noticed that I was bridging the gap with Slyly. How great would it be to be able to work with him fro the rest of the race! I believe Andy_UP caught me just before we crested and we caught Slyfly on the decent but, I’m not sure because I was really pressing, All I knew is now there where 3 of us working the rest of the race which was going to really help my speed. We worked well together until closer to the finish when Andy_UP dropped back. Slyfly jumped ahead on the sprint but I caught on and gave it everything I had to the line, In the end he held on by hundredths of a second but, what a great race. I finished with an average speed of 21.8 mph at 37:32.7 which was better than I expected. I’m very happy with my June results, and looking forward to what July will bring. I have a feeling Muckers1974 and DanWren are going to be up to the task. And if any of those faster riders like LinV and UnclE64 can do 4 races we could be in trouble. TT here we come!
Great report on your race Brain. You are just starting to reach the next level Mucker! Look at the riders you are mentioning around you!
You kind of approach it the same as me (setting an average speed goal) as in i will look at the other races and see what average speed those guys did and if i reckon they are beatable, i aim to go 0.1mph faster than those guys. So in the race, you are always looking to see of there’s a section where drafting is faster than powering along solo (especially the start!) The worst part is when you power up to someone at the top of a climb and they do nothing down the other side lol… but those are the ups and downs of racing!
Our cat has some very strong riders and it was only consistency that got me top 3 as i was actually never top 3 in any individual race (don’t think i was ever top 5 to be honest) But i can see it getting very competitive as more riders start to do all 4 races. But i feel you are in pole position for a category win next month, so lets see!
Consistency is definitely the key. Bike is working good, trainer is working good, and unlike you and others Rouvy seems to be working for me. I really need to work on my climbing if I ever have dreams to compete in A5. Anyway I’m just focusing on one race at a time. And yes, since I started reviewing the earlier racers times it has helped me set more realistic race goals.
The strategy was simple: I’ve been doing quite well this month, so I might manage to stay in A6. However, the Rouvy app had other plans for my race, and after a few glitches, I was just glad I managed to finish it at all. Next month I’ll be competing in A7; I hope the troubles are over.
hey Mucker, just a glitchy and strange month for you. If more riders had done all 4 you’d be staying up but it really doesn’t matter, go to A7, beat me up every race anyway as you always do, win your cat for the bonus points then you’re back up to A6 in August. (hopefully Brian’s gone to A5 by then 😉)
The challenges of indoor riding having to depend on the internet, the app, and our devices. When they are all working it’s great but, just one goes out of wack its no fun.. I use the app Bike Control for virtual shifting which add one more thing to the puzzle but, my setup has been working well lately so I’m grateful for that. You’re definitely an A6 or better rider so I don’t think you be in A7 for long,
having to use a different trainer and bike now on some race days using Zwift virtual shifting and hub. Way different gear sets than my Kickr bike and not in a good way. Experimenting with chain ring choice to se if I can’t get a bit more gear for downhills but likely not. Missed the start last week when Heart rate monitor bombed and sorting out new bike setup. Hope to be rolling a bit smoother soon.
