MUCKERS 2026 JULY CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 1.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

Castelluzzo to Torre dell’Impiso | Sicily | 14.02 miles | 1,145 ft. elevation

ROUVY SAY: Start inland near Castelluzzo and ride towards the cliffs and turquoise coastline of north-western Sicily. The route winds through San Vito Lo Capo, passes quiet coastal roads and finishes above the sea near Torre dell’Impiso, with sweeping Mediterranean views beside the Zingaro Nature Reserve.

WE SAY: TT TIME! Is this route a TT bike route though?? 🧐🤔 According to the route analyzer, it seems the normal bike set up is fastest so will be interesting to see the results and who uses what. But it has some elevation so i can see why the TT bike would suffer here.

Really nice turn out of 81 riders who kept to the rules so lets see how everything looks with all the start times blended into the results and GC:

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.

Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)

Täsch | Switzerland | 22.69 miles | 2,887 ft. elevation

Ride from Visp to Zermatt through the majestic Mattertal, a steady climb lined with alpine peaks and charming mountain villages. Follow the river deep into the valley, finishing near the foot of the Matterhorn in one of Switzerland’s most iconic settings.

Another Nice looking climb for a Sunday Social ride, 23 miles and just under 3000ft of elevation, with the climb being broken up every now and then, should be another nice climb where you don’t realize the elevation you are doing…. fingers crossed lol.

Search “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.

Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)

Seccagrande to Porto Empedocle | Sicily | 18.77 miles | 1,204 ft. elevation.

Follow Sicily’s southern coastline from Seccagrande to Porto Empedocle, riding beside quiet beaches, rocky shores and open Mediterranean views. Rolling coastal roads and warm sea air guide the route towards the historic harbour town near Agrigento.

1st Tuesday of the month means we get into this nice and gently with a 2.0w/kg target. These lower targets really do help to promote the group ride aspect of this training championship so hopefully a nice big group forms as we settle into a nice pace on a nice looking route.

PS. we have scheduled a Warm-up race for those that fancy it just before the main race? Due to the easy nature of the main race, we’ve thrown in a bit of a toughie at 18:25 (UK) if you wish to do it??:

Furka Pass | Grimsel | Switzerland | 8.54 miles | 1,319 ft. elevation.

Climb the eastern side of the Furka Pass from Gletsch, a legendary ascent with sweeping switchbacks, high alpine views and a glimpse of the Rhone Glacier. Finish at the windswept summit by the Totensee, surrounded by dramatic Swiss mountain scenery.

40 minutes to do this and get to the main race, but remember, you can be late for the main race as you will still get maximum points as long as your average in the main race is 2.0w/kg

Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship

Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)

Tour de Suisse 2026 | Stage 4 – Aarburg | 14.58 miles | 512 ft. elevation.

Start in historic Aarburg and follow the Aare valley into the rolling Swiss countryside around Boningen, Fulenbach and Neuendorf. Quiet farm roads, riverside sections and gentle climbs make this a relaxed ride through the heart of the Swiss Plateau.

A bit of a fast one for round 2 in this months championship! with only 512ft of elevation over the 14.5 miles, this will be the one to try and hang on in the fast packs and set a rapid time! We will soon be on some tougher routes so if this is more you flavor, then you need to make it count now!

Search “Muckers championship” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 7 different start times. All start times included in the championship

TO FINISH OFF:

Top 4 riders all with no ballast. Great start to the month but will they actually hang on for the whole month as the lack of ballast shows these 4 have NEVER finished top 10 at the end of any month yet! Maybe they are just concentrating on the TT championship so we will see next week.

We have quite a nice spread of numbers in each category this month. Usually one of them is high and one low, but this month its kinda even all the way along, just A9 being the most congested but this was made more possible with no HR checks for this category as we try to entice more riders to come and have a go and if they enjoy it and want to progress up the category table, then all they need is a HR sensor and it’s onwards and upwards. If they aren’t bothered about going that next level, then at least they can have fun in A9 and see if they can win the category!

Hope everyone enjoyed the TT and for those that didn’t, it’s over now and we have 3 weeks of full on draft races to look forward to. Good luck

Thanks to you all for the continued support and participation in the races, blog, comments, purchases etc etc etc , we really do appreciate it.

Thanks for reading the blog, especially those that read to the end. Thank you.

Horrible race for me. If there was a book on how to prep the day and the warm up wrong, then i followed it step by step today! Start was ok but i was still knackered from my hard push warm up, but felt ok, then the first kicker hit and although i climbed it at about 2.8, i was cooked at the top, with a nice stitch on the next downhill section. tried to clear the stitch before the next climb and i did, but when we hit the climb, i was at 2.5 maxed out! Pure survival mode for the rest of the ride and was more than happy to cross the line and get off the bike. well out of the top 50 and really far off in last in my category. Nowt like giving myself a mountain to climb for the next 3 races! So happy that race is over lol

    • Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

Well Neil, don’t get to down on yourself. Even though I cracked the top 50, you’re still not that far behind me. Pretty big gap to the top 3 A6 riders for both of us if they do all 4 races. I’m planning on both DanWren and LinV doing it. Still 3 more races so we’ll see!!! One race at a time. I was a little off from taking a business trip over the weekend so the Tue races were the only riding I did from last Friday before today’s race.

  2. Mike Hagen says:

Pretty nice race for me! 265 W/3.9 W/kg was the plan, with a slightly higher effort on the two climbs, and I pretty much nailed it. It was fun! Shoutout to Yumile who got me going and to simonjp who led me to the first climb; MatthiasHeil, who held me off for the longest time and didn’t fade once I’d caught him; Sublac72, we were back-and-forth, holding focus, until he fell back on the second climb; nielsbrynnum, whom I caught on the second climb, gave him a jolt, I imagine, and reenergized him so he left me behind; and sylv30330, who doesn’t have a HRM, I suppose, he’s not on the Mucker results. But he caught and passed me wearing his basic Rouvy jersey, on a basic Rouvy frame, I think; pretty awesome if he’s doing these events so well on a heavy frame. Fun times, guys!

  3. Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

Even though there was a lot of downhill sections that was a climbers TT. When I saw all the riders in the earlier races with fast times I knew it would be really tough for me to crack the top 50. I set my goal to average above 19 mph with a stretch goal of 20 mph. So what bike? Not the TT, the climb was going to be tough already. SWI? I might loose to much time on the green. So I went with my usual Trek Madone SLR P1. My plan was to push really hard on the green prior to the climb and see if I could get my average speed high enough to make up for the climb. Turns out I probably went too hard early because I kind of blew up on the climb. I held 2.8w/kg but average 2.9 for the whole race which is my high end. I pushed as hard as I could on the final decent and got back 2 mph but it wasn’t enough to get close to 20 mph. I finished at 19.3 mph 43.31.6 and just cracked 50th place at 49th. 7th out of 8 A6 riders but, we will see how many of those do all 4 races. Kudos to LinV and DanWren for smoking TT times. And Sunniva, I just didn’t have it in me to match your climbing skills today. I think I stopped the bleeding and started bridging the gap at one point but, couldn’t do it before the decent and didn’t have enough left to do anything on the down hill.

  4. Chris says:

It may have been horrible to you, Neil, but at least you started on time. I got home late from work and was , roughly, 15 minutes behind from the start.
    Not fun. You did great.

Nice Race for me, i’m very happy for my result. I started in a unusually time slot but the first race its always the some thing…
Thanks for my friends Enry, Mads and Beates1980 for a bit of moral support.
I rode very well in the first hill and also the second i fell good, infact when i see all the result, I’m so happy to have do better of Ratim and also MatthiasHeil… nice first race and also a good place in A4, but the month is long and so difficult, but without the draw, many different don’t find 😉.
