MUCKERS 2026 AUGUST CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 3.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

Alpine Panorama route | Stage 5 | Sörenberg – Thun | 24.76 miles | 1,732 ft. elevation

ROUVY SAY: Ride from the Emmental hills through quiet Alpine countryside towards the Bernese Oberland. Rolling roads, forested valleys and panoramic mountain views lead to a scenic finish in the historic town of Thun on the shores of Lake Thun.

WE SAY: A fast downhill dash heading towards a long 3.5mile climb, but 3 or 4 short rises beforehand to shed the wheel-suckers and slim down your groups. A beautiful route, find some allies over the top of the climb and buckle in for a fast descent.

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.

Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)

Alpine Panorama route | Stage 6 | Thun – Fribourg | 34.11 miles | 2,828 ft

Ride from Thun through the rolling hills of the Gantrisch region towards Fribourg. Quiet country roads, forested ridges and sweeping views lead to a finish in one of Switzerland’s most distinctive medieval cities.

Search “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.

Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)

Khao Nang Hong Viewpoint Pass | Phang Nga | Thailand | 11.65 miles | 915 ft. elevation

The Khao Nang Hong Pass is a rare cycling gem in Southern Thailand, offering an authentic mountain experience where you´d least expect it. The route starts with a thrilling ascent through lush jungle switchbacks that feel more like the Alps than the tropics. Throughout this route you´re get rewarded with views of the iconic Phang Nga limestone karsts.

2.8w/kg target this week. A climb at the beginning so getting above 2.8w/kg may help here, but hopefully enough time after the climb to ‘get there’ by the end.

Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship

Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)

Whitefish | Great Divide | Montana | 16.8 miles | 574 ft. elevation

Ride south from Lower Whitefish Road, follow the east-side corridor of Whitefish Lake into Whitefish, then turn east through the town’s straighter streets. Continue across the grid, step through the final right-angle turns, and finish on East Edgewood Drive.

This one will be fast, sweeping descent followed by some ‘sorting’ rollers to thin the field, don’t get isolated at this point or it’s a solo ride to the end.

Search “Muckers championship” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 7 different start times. All start times included in the championship

TO FINISH OFF:

A quick reminder, if you are new to The Muckers Worldwide racing series we have a few simple requirements for you to be included in the results you see within this website report. Riders must provide Heart Rate data, over 20 riders on today’s Rouvy race result have not featured in our results above due to no HR data, if you enjoyed the event and would like to be included please review the available HR monitor devices, there are some cheap entry level options to get you started.

Also, we have an internal rider verification system, if you regularly provide HR data you will be ‘Verified’. If you subsequently have a HR monitor problem on our event, please continue and you will be included in the results. If you repeatedly do not report HR data you will become ‘Non Verified’.

We also only include performance below 5w/kg (with exception of TT events). If you perform above this level we are very happy for you to join us but the result will be omitted from our results. We feel riders above this level are more inclined to join dual verification type events with weight verification videos etc. You may even be good enough to win money prizes.

Finally, we require riders to be a minimum 60kg. We have found this rule prevents blatant abuse of the system for w/kg benefits and acknowledge it may exclude genuine riders below this weight, if this is you, we ask that you understand our position and consider increasing your Rouvy weight a few kgs to reach the 60kg requirement if you wish to be included in the results above.

All the requirements above help us provide the fairest, competitive level within our control and we feel riders experience an enhanced level of trust amongst their competitors. Above all, we want to know the riders next to you on the route are gritting their teeth as much as you are.

  1. Steven Ludford says:

Only 19⁰C in Ludford Towers tonight compared to 35⁰C last week. I also kept the cycling moderate in the last 7 days to get the fatigue out of the legs.

Long steep downhill start, I caught the magic carpet with the fast guys and stayed in the front group until the small lumps spat me out just before the long, yes long, climb. I had a minute where it looked like a solo climb but ludwigdb looked like he was being my Guardian Angel tonight and joined then stayed with me. We formed a great group with ValRdz and ogee all the way up the climb. I feared they might ambush me towards the top but I think they thought I would be useful on the descent and 4 miles flat run in, so we descended, picked up a few more riders and prepared for the finish.

Typically, at this point I say I soft pedalled to the line as a thank you to my comrades. The truth, I’m normally too wasted to sprint. Tonight I gave it a go but I think I was 4/5 in the finish order.

Good performance, I’m happy, but that 5 mile descent at the beginning sure helped get some time gaps to better riders behind me tonight.

    • Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

Well done Ste! Smart of you not to spend too much energy on those early kickers. I tried to stay near the front until the climb but spent way too much energy too early. Couldn’t grab your wheel for more than a few revs when you came past. Cheers!

      • Steven Ludford says:

It’s a tricky one, you know staying with the front group is eating into your reserves but it’s buying lots of time away from the people who missed the group. Unfortunately, knowing when to get off that particular bus is only justified in hindsight and no sooner.

  2. Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

Well, after 2 great races, I mucked this one up pretty badly. Too hard on the descent. Too hard at bottom of the climb trying to stay with MNHROUVY. No legs left to latch onto SLudford, LinV, or Valrdz, or Ludwigdb when they came by. Then . . . Some hope: Klinthomie was still behind me along with one I didn’t recognize. The three of us crested together, and I’m thinking “we still have a chance”. We were working together well when I had a “mechanical” and lost 20 or 30 seconds. Klinthomie kindly waited for me, but my enthusiasm for the chase was gone. We rode well together the rest of the way in, but we were just too far back and I was too tired to help more than sporadically. Oh well – still fun and always good to share pulls with another Mucker. Thanks Klinthomie!

    • Klinthomie says:

Oh, you had a mechanical! I thought for sure I was gliching out because the third guy was getting dropped out of nowhere. But yeah, Eric – really happy you fixed it and we could team up. I had 6-700 meter up til AndyUP and Lin, and I figured I couldn’t do it alone. But what I also didn’t figure was this crazy stomach ache I got after we regrouped! I was thinking about getting off the bike multiple times and I think I would have if it wasn’t for you. So thank YOU!

Also, third week in a row we finish neck a neck?

  3. Mike Hagen says:

Great start and I got to the front, only MatthiasHeil in view ahead. It was a big group, so I settled in mid-pack to get over the kickers before the one climb. Group of ten got away on one of the ramps. That was okay; wasn’t going to keep up with them anyway. I was with Stu (BikeanddogTrips) on the climb, wondering if we could reel BTK_jiri70_cz in, he was not far ahead. When late-starter BartVandenBrande joined us, I thought for sure we would catch Jiri, especially as we were working the descent superbly; sprinting out of every braking corner and slinging off our drafts. We caught (and dropped) Wytze1, but Jiri stubbornly refused to yield. Stu dropped with about 10 km to go and I just followed Bart in after that. I had vague hopes of beating him in the sprint, but nope, that didn’t happen! Never did catch Jiri, but Jiri caught lrollin not far ahead of us. And considering the strong riders not far behind, I am well pleased with today’s race.

The horror! The horror! What a baaaad beginning for me, haha. I struggled with my equipment, mainly connections between my chest strap, my (new) watch and Rouvy. Had no HR and had to fix it right away while semi-pedaling and I ended up missing the fast train aka the front group. It was basically game over for me and within 1 minute I was in the fifties with no way of gaining – damnit! And now I read in the writeup that I don’t need to fix HR right away as I am “verified” rider. I could have fixed it after the beginning?! But hey, you live and you learn. It is what it is.

When I got to the big climb, I started seeing some names I knew. Sunniva, 4WorldPeace and then: UncleE! I gave it my all and just by the end caught up to Eric. I felt very lucky! I thought we had a chance of catching Lin and Andy up ahead, but mechanicals for Eric and a sudden stomach ache for me put and end to that thought. We rode it together and finish side by side for the third week in a row, 36 and 37th out of 54. Seems I have a new partner in E!

Bad week for me all in all. I have been battling with illness and the race from yesterday is one of those I just want to forget and move onwards. But something good did happen! My weight is dropping, yet again, and I can now put in a new number on Rouvy! Heck yes! I am now officially 15 kg down since October last year, and that is something to celebrate, at least for me.

    Have a nice weekend, y’all.

Ahhh – when I saw you behind me on the climb I knew “something” had happened – now I know.

I came back from one hard outdoor ride with 2350 mt of elevation, from Wednesday and this ride for my legs result another one… My start sounds good and I stay in top 15 until the end of downhill, also the first hill I did well. My legs start to be a little tired and hard, but for my lucky I find my Friend Ra-Tim, in the last month I rode often near him and my first think was I can do it, I find a big concentration until the end of the Big Hill and when we start the many section in downhill we work very good as ever for cath all riders to n the way. This time I look so often wich riders appear in nearby list and when I saw first Kingmagic and after Loudford, I try to find the last power in me for bring our little group on the finish line. Thanks to Andrus17 for a good 25th in general result.

I started fast and hard to tap into the power of the strongest riders and waited for the climbs. I got dropped but was still in a pretty good position. My legs weren’t responding well, so the strategy was to ride in a group where I could work together with others on the climbs and then hold on tight during the final descent. I was really glad that Brian (4WorldPeace) was riding with me because I truly needed the support. We worked well together, and I’m happy with the result. Thanks for the ride 🙂

I had very similar ride as Sharky. I rode the most tough route from Spanish challenges on wednesday with KonaBleit. I gave all to the start and I was in first group. I didn’t care that some hitters were faster in ramps and disappeared. I focused to stay with Squallo and as we reached the long hill we definitively rode together.I didn’t try to hold on to the stronger ones as they rode by because I knew we would work together on the descent. I tried to pull Sharky up a bit because I knew that he would be stronger on the flat at the end. Thanks to the perfect cooperation on the descent, we finished the lone riders ahead of us and the ELITE rider Andrus stayed with us and helped and didn’t try to break us. As I expected, I was running out of strength towards the end, but the group behind us forced us to go full speed. At the end, I gave up the sprint, because I was riding more in the draft at the end, and most importantly, I didn’t have the strength and even if I had in this trio, I would have lost the sprint anyway. Big respect to Kon Bleit, who rode the entire flat alone 50 to 100 meters ahead of us and kept the lead

Yes very nice work yesterday… for a moment I thinked that we can cath Kon Bleit, but he was more strong than us… next time we try to do better 💪👍🦈

I solid race for me neither good or bad, no equipment issues, no excuses. I think I getting stronger which is good because at my age it’s really all about not getting worse too fast. Started fast enough to see the front of the race for a couple seconds. Seems like everyone was in a line straight across the road because I went from 30th to 1st and then right back to 30th. Of course I lost the fast group as soon as the course flattened out a little. I tried not to waste too much energy on the rollers even though I was in a good group. I got myself ready to attach the climb. I know I’m still going backward on the climb but my attach means that I am going backwards slower (losing less time). As I approached the top Chak caught me, we joined up on the descent and caught 2 or 3 riders. We went to the line with VilemStrakos, everyone was primed for the sprint I miss timed it and finished last. I need to have more confidence on the fast finishes and go from further out. I just need to have another solid race next week for some world championship points. Thank Chak and VilemStrakos for the company on the run in.
