MUCKERS 7pm Thursday Race Night. 30/03/23

Rouvy Route Used: Challenge St. Polten | Austria 40 km | 24 miles | 1220 ft climbing

Route4 from the Tri Training Camp Europe Medium

48 registered | 25 finishers | 6 dnf | 17 dns

Last of my Scheduled routes for the Tri Training Camp challenge and this was a really nice route. Got to love getting rid of a large chunk of the climbing at the beginning when you are quite fresh, with just a few little climbs to deal with for the rest of the race.

Simon_Hahnenbruch” made it 2 wins in 2 Muckers races this week, coming in 1st with a time 3 minutes under the hour mark. I was convinced this one was going to take everyone at least an hour as well!! “feelslikemonday” came home 2nd and only 18 seconds behind, which is very close considering this was a 24 mile race! Bronze for “adampel” who had no team mate tonight (you need to leave that team and join Muckers Worldwide πŸ˜‰) but still came over the line in under an hour. Superb effort and well done to this super strong top 3!

4th place came yet another regular, “PatrykS_Gdynia_PL” but in a very unfamiliar large gap to third. Hope he didn’t have bike trouble again! 5th came the Italian rider “broken79” who, if i am not mistaken, is a new name to the Muckers races? (Or at least the top 10 as i don’t recall typing this user name before) Not too far behind came “Karel_sousek” in a very strong 6th, followed by the strong British rider “robbiedoo” in 7th.

That’s 7 different nationalities in the top 7 places. It still blows my mind that all these riders from all around the world in there own little pain cave, spare rooms, gyms etc etc came together to race against each other in this Virtual world we call ROUVY! Thank you so much joining these races.

8th., 9th and 10th are now all filled with riders from Germany and all in the 6 minutes behind the German winner! long time muckers races competitor (yet still won’t call himself a Mucker, yet he so is!) came “wurstrolle_81” , followed by “Dok_PS” then in the final mentioned place, “marcelmitmrad” in 10th, who i also think might be a new rider/top 10 mention!

Well done to everyone that completed this 24 miler as 6 didn’t even finish it yet you stuck at it! and I hope you enjoyed it!

Cheers.

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

21st and finally a decent average power of 232w. large climb at the beginning always means a poor race result for me and I got to the top of the hill, in no mans land and around 24th place, but I’d averaged 280w by the time i got up there so was quite happy. found myself getting dropped by the riders in front but getting caught by Daniel_G so instead of going at it solo, i backed of ever so slightly so he catch up and we could maybe work together. We worked together really well, keeping that 0.35 mile gap back to destuiper and Mick who seemed to be working together also. When we hit that last climb, the one about 5 miles from the finish, i pulled out a 500 ft gap to Daniel and i was stuck in 2 minds about what to do. has he bonked? should I wait? I chose ( wrongly it will turn out πŸ˜‚) to keep pressing on, but he pegged it at 450ft and then started to close the gap. i really though i could stay out front but even at 2.8/2.9 and doing 24mph, he was closing in fast! he breezed past me and I couldn’t jump on his wheel. I now see that those other 2 riders are now just 900ft behind so i just had to get my head down to not let those 2 catch me! just managed it! But I definitely learned a lesson tonight!

Hi Neil. This was my first time with Muckers worldwide and it was really cool. Thanks for organising the races and also writing a report afterwards, very cool! It was my first time, but certainly not the last πŸ˜‰

It was a good cooperation with destuiper for almost the whole race. I don’t know exactly what destuiper wanted, but I think we tried everything to catch up with you. At least it was me who was very much at his limit and it didn’t work out. Anyhow, great race!

      Greetings from Germany

hi, thank you for the comments and its great to hear you will be back again! I will be honest with you, i was extremely worried for those last 2 miles that you were gonna get me and it was a full effort to keep the gap once I ended up on my own! I felt your pressure all the way! Thanks again

This was tough for me as I’m more of a climber than a flat rider. So the plan was to put some power on the climbs so that I could get some distance on a few of the riders. This worked for the first 10 miles (3 miles climbing – 7 miles flat), and then they started to come past me. The first ones were “mgk1971” and “uffzynda”. I stayed with them for about 2 miles until I started glitching, and they were gone. Next came “jeff65” and “LukasP79”; these guys left me too. I could see “Mucker1974” 1 mile behind me, and I thought, “Nope, he is not going to catch me”. With dead legs and very tired, I crossed the line in 18. Well done, everyone.

i saw I’d kept you about a mile in front. needed to be another 20/30 miles longer at the same flatness and I would have caught you …… eventually πŸ™„

First timer. Nice ride, although I prefer punchy climbs at the end of a race. Now I went mostly solo from the top of the climb to the finish. (I have left a fake e-mail adress with this post as I have no idea what happens with the address and on the security of the website)

    • Neil Rushby says:

hi, thanks for the comment. what is your ROUVY name please? i don’t want to presume and get it wrong. cheers.

    • Kyle Goodram says:

Hi Patrick, we don’t do anything with your email address unless you’ve ticked that you would like to subscribe to our newsletter. Hopefully this should give you peace of mind in the future.

Please carry on joining the Muckers Races and commenting on your version of the race.

See you on the next one.

      Kyle

Funny race picture at the top! The riders all seem to be related to each other because they all wear the same thing πŸ˜‰ Next time, please shoot a better one with me in a more advantageous (top) position πŸ˜‚
I am between “kylofski” and “Mucker1974” (without a name bar) on the pic and finished only on P14, probably because I gained a kilo…
So, no mentioning in the magic list this time I am afraid…but in the next “Tokyo” event, everyone will be considered, because only 10 riders participated! Puh, my luck, so I am eagerly awaiting your race report from Tokyo.

All well done. Your events are more and more attracting really fast and crazy people, my respect and congratulations to everyone!

    CU, Chris alias “uffzynda”

    • Neil Rushby says:

sorry Chris, i will try harder next time with the photo! Maybe just stay with me a bit longer and I’ll get a good one!! Tokyo is now published and you are actually mentioned twice!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
You are not kidding about the class of rider now though! That was one of the hardest fort 21st places I’ve ever rode for! But thoroughly enjoyable as always. See you soon Mucker!

  5. Dok_PS says:

So many strong rider in this race. Well done. The ride was not my terrain and with my tired legs from the ROUVY virtual Ronde van Vlaanderen race the day before, I had to draft a lot (sorry for that) and finally had to take the decision to not follow the speed of broken79 and to try to stay in top 10. See you soon again.

    • Neil Rushby says:

looks like you were comfortably in the the top 10 and just got the better of marcel on the line to get 9th! anyone getting top 10 at the moment can consider themselves very strong riders! Well done and thanks for taking the time to comment. cheers.
