OK, challenge accepted. This has got to be a decent race report now I’m back and Ste did such an excellent job for me! Now I know how Angus Deayton felt when he got fired from Have I Got News For You in 2002 and the guest presenters have done a better job since!!!!
This is a class route! Just under 17 miles and just under 1500 ft of climbing. Just right for an hours racing as each Hill is different and each downhill slightly different as well. So, strong on climbs and hopefully recover in the draft on the downhills is the order of the day here.
35 riders finished it, with 31 of those getting below that magic 60 minutes target. Well done to all and don’t forget that if you’ve done a Muckers Race, you are more than welcome to use Muckers Worldwide as your Team name now!
“lloydieDHR” got the win, but only just, and that was just in front of the very strong rider “luke_vin” Not even a second between them! The Battle for 3rd was another close affair with “Team Adam-Chris” team mates battling it out with “adampel” getting the medal and “hinsbergen” just getting 4th and eating his dust!! π with 5th place “Simon_Hahnenbruch” right on there tail over the line.
Just under 2 minutes later came 6th place “karel_sousek” in what looked like the start of a few riders coming over the line in a little bit of no mans land. ( i.e big gaps before and after them)
34 seconds later came 7th place “stephane-martin” , then 50 seconds later came 8th place “anatolij” So did these 3 ride together at all or was this all solo efforts?? be great to Know.
the fight for the last 2 places in the top 10 was a three way battle with “quicknik80” claiming 9th and “s.cata” just claiming that all important 10th place. Well done as it was extremely close with 11th!
Top 3 Muckers tonight were “tomlerieger” with a very impressive 11th in a very strong field tonight, “Andy_UP” in a nice 15th place and “Shrek-1970-Challenger” in a very strong 17th after a few months away while doing some home improvements for longer than expected!
Thanks to everyone who jumped on the race tonight and thanks for reading this blog. please leave us a comment in the comment section and let us know how the race went for yourselves as we love to read them!
cheers

26th for me and I just couldn’t push much harder tonight to be honest. Did my first Jog in about 2 months a few days ago and I’ve been stiffer than a stiff thing with stiff sauce all over it since!! So I just had to take it easy and not pull anything which I managed to do. superb route but nothing really to report for once ass i didn’t really race anyone. cheers, Neil
First off, I really enjoy these races and many thanks to Neil and the Muckers for initiating and organizing them. I figured the first hill at 500 m would fracture the pack. I only hoped to be with a group to ride with after the climb. So it was: a group of seven in front after the hill, anatolij by himself most of the way, then another group of seven that I was in. Trying to hang on uphill, and regrouping downhill. Noticed at 18 km that Andy_UP had emptied and was off the back; then we hit the Sibbe climb and I was too. Hit the subsequent downhill hard and almost got back on, but the Cauberg climb was too much. The last km was between me and Enea022 for 12th place. I figured he would get it: He’s younger and he was behind me until the last 100 m. Good race!
13th is a great result in such a strong field. Thanks for racing with us and commenting again! means a lot. cheers.
Holy moly. Paris Roubaix was still in my legs. Too much effort in this Tuesday race. So no chance to follow other groups or riders, which ended in a long solo ride. That didn’t make it any easier. Congratulations to all and especially to the insane, fabulous topten racers! π
CU Michael aka Mick_Michel
followed you in but i was so stiff from my run that i just couldn’t put the hammer down to even try and catch you.. thanks for commenting!
I knew this profile could fit me, steep climbs but short and downhills for drafting an recovering. So tom get ready! I did a Brazilian route for warm up to be well heated for the firts hill. The game plan was to be in a fast group after the first climb. Off we go: startet good and went all in on the first hill, but not over 4.5W/kg an too long in the red zone. Had a gap of 50m at the end of the climb to the group with Andy and Mike Hagen, but I was together with MatthiasHeil. We worked well together an closed the gap to the pack at the end of the 2nd hill. I was around place 12 in the group, so tenth ans a mention was in reach at this time. The downhill was relaxed an a good recovery for my hartrate an my swollen red head! We lost Matthias and Andy and the pack was eliminated to 5 at the end of climb because of very heavy attacks from three other riders but I managed to stay at the wheels. Everybody was preparing now for the Cauberg: quicknik and s.cata attacked with over 5W/kg and I went all in and tried to maintain 4.5W/kg hoping they will get tiered until the end of the climb but they did’nt. They pulled like crazy even on the flat last 1.5km an I tried all I could the chase them and get the 10th rank! I missed it by 0.1 s against s.cata! But 11th, best Mucker and 272W was my best result ever. Suberb race and thanks to all riders that made this race so fantastic! cheers tomlerieger
excellent report and what an effort !!! superb routes really make for superb races! cheers Mucker.
Another great race with the Muckers group! Unlike last Tuesday I didn’t have the option to tactically sit in and draft and simply be patient for the sprint. This course was defined by the string of 5 “little” climbs which I knew would be where all front group riders would lay it all out. And indeed, close to 6 w/kg was needed to keep up. And then still had to be alert to not get dropped as we crossed the summit. Pretty brutal. The short downhills were just enough to catch my breath again, before starting the next leg drain. Great course if you like a hard interval training! At the top of the Cauberg we were still with Simon, Chris (Hinsbergen) and I, with 1,5 reasonably flat kms to the finish, and only 3rd place still up for grabs. I chose for a surprise surge at 700m, pulling a gap and then just going head down, eyes closed, all out. Bit of a gamble, but it worked. I was absolutely knackered at the end, but with a big smile on my face!
well done and thanks for popping on with a great post. cheers
This should be kind of revenge for Tuesday. The short hills should suit me better than flat in Roubaix route. But it started very similarly as on Tuesday. Simon went off and no one tried to catch looking at others to do the work. Luckily there was a newbie for me, lloydieDHR, who looked very strong and who was slowly but surely bringing Simon back. We were very close to him at the start of the second climb that turned to be decisive. When I catch Simon I eased a bit, but lloydieDHR went off. I jumped on his wheel thinking that it is very good train to go with. But he was too strong for me, so I have to let him go. Still, I had a solid gap on the rest of the group so I decide to at least try to put a pressure on them. In the meantime, Karel also lost contact due to drafting issue (seem that this is not fully solved yet), so there was unfortunately no teammate backing my back in the chasing group. However, lloydieDHR seemed a bit scared of going alone and waited for me, then provided very solid transfer to the next hill. Meanwhile group of Simon, Adam and Chriss looked to be hesitating a bit who will chase, so we got pretty good gap on them. I was going the hills full gas and the rest was about just suffering in lloydieDHR draft. He was ok with that, did not attacked me, so I did not sprint then for the finish line. I was very fine with the second place, specially thinking of who all is behind me.
Any way very good race again, thanks all!
really strong ride for so many reasons! You are turning into the one to beat at the moment and hope it continues! cheers for commenting!
Sorry that I cannot contribute much here, since I was still busy in Malaysia when the race started. So I jumped in too late as very last on position 35 with noone in sight at the hoizon. After a few minutes I could catch up to some relaxing riders, having a nice experience with a few of yours. I joined my team fellow “Mucker1974” later for a drafting team for a while, who was not in a racing mood tonight as he mentioned above, so I decided to increase the pace a bit. I crossed the finish line on position 20, not so bad starting as the red lantern π
The next race on the clock was Brazil, about which you might read in Neils report a bit later, maybe… I had an outstanding bill here. π
CU soon, Chris alias “uffzynda”
thanks for the help for those few miles.
So I get a mention if I’m in the top 3 Muckers? Is this going to be a regular thing? I nearly killed myself a few times getting in the top 10.
Anyway, I learned that Rouvy on tablet just stops your rider when a message get displayed the battery is running low. Had to close a gap and I did with great effort. Then the 3rd hill started and I had to put in another effort. Almost made it over the top with the group but couldn’t close that gap anymore. Race for top 10 was pretty much over right there. I will try again next time!
Love the idea of the Top 3 Muckers
I will add a top 3 muckers if and when my secret algorithm is satisfied! I will not disclose this secret formula so it’s not a given that i will do it every race so you still have to aim for top 10 guys to guarantee a mention π
Wow that was a tough race, another solo effort trying to chase down Muckers team mate Kylofski ( the Goat ),felt strong, but knew Kyle was a better climber than myself, and i am slightly quicker on the flat sections.Everytime i got near,a hill emerged, and i lost contact, and in the end was lucky not to be caught by Uffzynda, great fun as always, thanks for top org!
Me, the red lantern, weren’t motivated enough to catch up to you, although of course that would have been toooo easy π I noticed that you didn’t like the idea closing the gap so I gave up… maybe next time. In Brazil perhaps? Where is the mention in Brazil…. ??? π
patience Mucker….. patience.
