MUCKERS LAST HIIT NIGHT OF 2025!
16 RACES IN ONE NIGHT ON OCOTBER THE 30th 2025.
Hi Riders,
We have finally decided what to do for the last Muckers HIIT Event of the year. This will be the 3rd one we’ve arranged (we only arrange these on any month that has 5 Thursdays ) and we feel we learned a lot from the previous 2 to hopefully make this one the best one yet! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Our original idea was to try and use as many short races from as many different countries as possible, in about an hour, that would be flat out races with enough gap between them all to allow you to recover whilst getting to the next one. This could also be described as a HIIT (high intensity interval training) training session which is why we called it a HIIT night.
So the first one came about on Thursday the 29th of May and we had 12 different countries scheduled. BRAZIL, LIECHTENSTEIN, SWITZERLAND, CZECH REPUBLIC, U.S.A, FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY, NEW ZEALAND, SPAIN, HUNGARY, and BELGIUM. So if you did all 12, you’d also then tick off 12 countries from your passport please personal achievement on ROUVY. All races created and scheduled on ROUVY then loaded up to NITEOR so we could hold it as 12 race competition for the GC honors.
68 riders were on the start line for the very first race and we ended up having an amazing 52 riders turn up and complete all 12 stages!! “BareRemi” ended up being the eventual winner on points, closely followed by “Hubschraubaer” in 2nd and “DonMatteo_07” in 3rd.
Over the 12 races we covered just 8.22 miles and climbed 205ft. We arranged this one with the 2 longest routes as the 1st and last, then the shortest ones in the middle. I wasn’t happy with the order though as i had 2 climbs back to back and 2 flats back to back, plus it was too hard for a “long” race at the end so wanted to avoid this for the next one. But all in all, it was a really good event.
Muckers 1 Night of HIIT “exteme edition”
This title came about for the 2nd event due to our main aim to choose another collection of routes that were all totally different from the 1st event. So on the 31st of July we kicked off the 2nd event. we’d also been asked to create other start times so we spent an age creating 3 other start times but only 2 or 3 riders turned up for these extra start times so we won’t be doing that again. It takes long enough to arrange the main selection in the first place, so although we really wanted to allow as many as possible to join in, it just wasn’t worth all that effort.
Why “extreme”? well, because we really wanted the countries to all be different from the first selection, we had to go with some routes that were longer and steeper than the first lot! So picking the next shortest races from totally different countries was really time consuming but we eventually came up with 11 countries that just about kept to the hour target. This time we went to ROMANIA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, NETHERLANDS, SLOVINIA, MADAGASCAR, AUSTRIA, NORWAY, POLAND, SLOVAKIA and SOUTH AFRICA! But we had 4 longish routes so we did 3 at the start and one at the end, then the 4 minute ones in between. Those long ones were just too long to really stick to the HIIT principles and hardly any recovery between them, but was still a great challenge! I’d also managed to have 4 climbs back to back…. i gave myself a good talking to about that!!
52 riders on the start line for race 1 (not bad for summer at all) and we ended up with 31 riders stickling with it and doing all 11 races! What we did notice was some of those that did all 11, still scored quite low on the GC which was just wrong. the idea is to do all of the races and not just smash 5 or 6 to get really good points, so next time we are going off time which should calculate better and list everyone who did all the events first, then those who missed 1, then those that missed 2 and etc etc. But we will put something together for those that want to just smash a few as well for the next event, but the GC should be for those that do every race.
“Andrus17” won this event with “DonMatteo_07” 2nd and “karel_sousek” claiming 3rd
Over these 11 races we did 13.01 miles (4.79 miles longer than the first) and 1176 feet of climbing ( 971ft higher than the first one). This extra elevation is really where the “extreme” title came from!
MUCKERS LAST HIIT NIGHT OF 2025 (OCTOBER 30TH).
Lets get this right this time Neil!!!!! lol. Back to basics now, so all the races chosen are some of the shortest on ROUVY right now and can all have 4 minute gaps between them all, Nice and easy! So lets have 16 shall we and not worry about what country then are from this time? Yes indeed! Next, lets actually look at all the profiles and we basically have 6 climbs, 6 downhills and 4 flats…. interesting…. i could do 3 blocks of 4 races that consist of: climb, downhill, climb, downhill, then split them up with the flats! perfect!!! Now, we really wanted to run the flat races with the eventual winner of said flat race actually being the rider closest to a certain w/kg just to mix it up a bit and force recovery, but at the moment NITEOR isn’t set up to allow that to be included in an event set up another way, which we have as we want a time based GC. Never mind, maybe next time….
But, as mentioned earlier, we have created a few different aims with the event! So we have the main GC based this time on total time, so all your finish times are added together, with all those that do all 16 races being the first group listed. But the 6 climbs have there own GC for “mountain classification” and the 6 downhill profiles have a separate GC titled “sprint classification” . So 3 competitions in 1 this time.
We also learned that if we titled the races with the race number right at the start, this will help when we all racing and need to select the right tile for the next race when in the app. Whilst we are on this subject, the best way to make this run as smoothly as possible is to register for all the races so they are in your “joined events” section. Then download them all well in advance so they are in your “downloaded” tile, and finally like all 16 routes so they are also in your “favorites” section aswell. I actually remove all my downloaded routes and only have these 16 routes in there just for this night.
Remember you have to end the race you just completed yourself, then get to the next one. it doesn’t do it automatically. So the idea is you cross the line, back off, but keep the legs turning to recover as you navigate the app to the start shoot of the next race, then hopefully you load up on the start line with a few minutes left of recovery before you Rocket away when you get the GO!!

Hopefully this explains the whole process and gives a bit of history into the event and why we are doing it the way we are doing it. But as per usual, pop a comment in if you have any questions and we will get back to you.
Thanks for taking the time to read, especially those that have read to the end.

just a quick update to please make sure you register to all 16 so you have them all in your “joined events” tab. Ive just had a quick look at all 16 races and the registered rider numbers are all totally different. Maybe some riders might only register for a few, or maybe some have just joined the ones that are just for print points, or king of the mountain points, but just wanted to add this reminder just in case.
Am I the only one who can’t get into any of the races?
Thanks for organising these events Neil – much appreciated.
I was looking forward to this event, why? I promised myself never again after each of the last 2 events. I swapped shifts at work, downloaded each route, analysed each route and ensured I had the best set up. Downloaded yet another ROUVY update and was ready to go. I picked a decent warm up to prepare for a max effort sesh and had the dreaded message pop up on my screen, no worries, plenty of time till the first race – I will try my trusty 10 inch tablet as I won’t be enjoying the scenery anyway – same problem ffs.
Banged out and had a can of Abbot instead.
16 RACES MUCKERS LAST HIIT NIGHT OF 2025.
?/?
Left another tech meetup earlier to join 16 short races every 4 minutes. Something not working on Rouvy tonight, unable join races 1,2, ok started with 3, then finished 1,2 in those four min pauses between 4,5 races. The last race i share is the only i could finish on podium, otherwise i ended up each race ~6th place on average. I like this concept, what a shame Rouvy is having issues. Thank you all who joined us.
At least I’m glad that the problem was with Rouvy and not with my computer. I was only able to participate from the third race onwards. By then, however, I wasn’t particularly motivated anymore. Other races were also affected by this error.
