Weekly Roundup: Bernal’s Incredible Comeback & G’s Grand Farewell

Muckers Weekly Round Up 12925

Hello Muckers! It’s been another action-packed week in the world of cycling, both on the professional circuit and in our own virtual world. From dramatic Grand Tour stages to emotional farewells, there’s plenty to get our handlebars buzzing about. So, grab a coffee, and let’s get into the weekly roundup.

Grand Tour Drama and Triumphs at the Vuelta

The Vuelta a España has been serving up drama by the bucketload! We’ve seen stages shortened due to protests, which has certainly thrown a spanner in the works for the riders and teams. Amidst the chaos, there have been some incredible moments of racing. Jonas Vingegaard has been battling to hold onto his lead, while riders like Tom Pidcock have been fighting for podium spots.

But the standout story has to be Egan Bernal’s victory on stage 16. To see him win a Grand Tour stage again after his horrific crash is a true testament to his resilience and determination. It’s a story that reminds us all of the grit and passion that drives us as cyclists. For those of you who love to test yourselves on the same terrain as the pros, many of the iconic Vuelta climbs are available on Rouvy for our own Muckers’ battles!

A Legend Hangs Up His Wheels: Farewell G

The Tour of Britain marked the end of an era as Geraint Thomas officially retired from professional cycling. “G” has been a fan favourite for years, and to see him sign off in his home country was a fitting and emotional end to a stellar career. He’s a true Mucker at heart, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.

Off-Road Action: MTB and Gravel Worlds

For those of you who prefer the dirt, there has been plenty of action at the UCI MTB World Championships. We’ve seen some thrilling cross-country races, with the USA’s Kate Courtney and Keegan Swenson dominating the marathon events. In the world of gravel, the UCI Gravel World Series continues, with Noemie Thomson and Jenson Young taking the wins in Wales. It’s great to see the off-road scene thriving, and it’s inspiring for our own adventures on the rough stuff.

That’s all for this week’s roundup. Keep a lookout for our upcoming Muckers’ virtual races, and as always, keep the banter flowing!

Kyle Goodram

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle
