Muckers Holidays: Canaries Round 2 – El Hierro, Fuerteventura & Lanzarote New Deals for Winter 2026/27
Muckers Holidays – Winter 2026/27 Canaries Edition, Round Two
Right then, Muckers. Six days after our first Canaries roundup and the turbo is still side-eyeing you from the corner. So we’ve gone looking again – and this time we’ve steered hard away from the deals we already covered. No Tenerife Bike Tours, no TenerifeVelo, no Moloko, no Cycle Gran Canaria, no Free Motion, no Club La Santa and no La Palma hire reruns. Fresh operators, quieter islands, and a proper lean into Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and El Hierro.
Same rules as last time: cyclist-safe roads where we can find them, a bias towards hidden treasures, and every price below is exactly as the operator shows it today (15 October 2026), with a link to the offer itself. Prices change, so check before you book.
Why Round Two still means the Canaries
Winter sun, four-to-five-hour flights from most UK airports, and real mountains. Last time we leaned on Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma. This fortnight the quieter ends of the archipelago get their turn: El Hierro (the smallest inhabited island, still barely on most UK club radars), Fuerteventura (wind, space and roads that feel almost empty), and Lanzarote done properly beyond one resort week. If you need a reminder why these islands work for road riders, S. Ludford’s Lanzarote trip is still worth a read.
1. Hidden Gem of the Fortnight: El Hierro Road Week – Canary Biking
Where: El Hierro (single base, self-guided with GPX)
When: 8-day packages, bookable for winter dates via the operator
Price as shown: €995 per person
Included (per the operator): accommodation, a hire road bike (pedals of your choice, helmet and lock), and GPX routes. Meals and flights are only included if the operator lists them for that booking – check the trip page. Transfers and ferries depend on the itinerary.
Why it’s a hidden treasure: El Hierro is the smallest inhabited Canary Island and Canary Biking call it still largely undiscovered by road cyclists. No famous café stops, no pack of winter training camps jamming the climbs. Why it’s safe: the operator and local travel guides describe exceptionally quiet roads; an elDiario cycling write-up of the Malpaso climb from La Caleta notes that traffic is basically not a problem and the ride is mostly on asphalt.
The ride, the views: Canary Biking say you can climb from the coast to around 1,300m in roughly 17km, and that a full island loop often comes in around 100km with about 2,400m of climbing. The official tourism route from Valverde lists a circular day of 105km with around 2,400m of climbing, through El Julan pines, the twisted junipers of El Sabinar, the El Golfo valley and César Manrique’s Mirador de La Peña. The big objective is Malpaso at 1,501m: from La Caleta the climb is around 1,500m of ascent, mostly paved, via Valverde and the old road through Tiñor and San Andrés (elDiario). At the top you’re on the island’s roof with the Mar de las Calmas below. It’s a great find because €995 gets you a week of hire bike, bed and routes on an island most UK riders still fly past on the way to Tenerife.

2. Fuerteventura Road Week – Canary Biking
Where: Fuerteventura (single base, self-guided with GPX)
When: 8-day packages through the winter season
Price as shown: €1,295 per person
Included (per the operator): accommodation, hire road bike with pedals/helmet/lock, and GPX routes. Confirm meals and airport transfers on the booking page.
Why it’s a hidden treasure: Fuerteventura barely featured in our first roundup, and for road riders that’s a miss. UNESCO biosphere reserve status, long open roads and far less Lycra density than Tenerife’s south. Why it’s safe: Canary Biking describe a network of wide, paved roads from Corralejo in the north to Morro Jable in the south, with the challenge coming more from wind and rolling terrain than from traffic.
The ride, the views: Expect long, open kilometers rather than one famous Alpine-style col. The island’s heart is Parque Rural de Betancuria: Canary Biking talk about routes through ochre mountains, barrancos and viewpoints via Betancuria, Pájara and El Cardón. Canary Ride lists the FV-30 between Pájara and Betancuria as a scenic paved climb to around 430m. On windy days the island earns its name (“strong fortune” / strong wind), so build that into your pacing. After the ride: surf spots, goat cheese with mojo, and beaches that feel closer to the Caribbean than to a wet UK November. It’s a great find because you get a full road-bike week on an island most winter camps skip, for under €1,300 with the bike already sorted.

3. Two Islands, One Bag: Lanzarote + Fuerteventura – Discover Tours & Experiences
Where: Costa Teguise (Lanzarote) then Caleta de Fuste (Fuerteventura), Barceló 4-star beachfront hotels
When: 20–30 November 2026 (10 nights / 8 riding days)
Price as shown: €2,767 per person. Single occupancy supplement €560. Application fee €50 listed separately as not included.
Included (per the operator): 10 nights superior accommodation, all breakfasts and evening meals, Barcelona–Lanzarote return flights (Vueling as listed), airport transfers on Lanzarote, French-speaking local cycling guide, support vehicle on rides, bike rental arrangement and delivery, daily route maps and GPX. UK–Barcelona travel, drinks, tips, travel insurance and the Discover jersey are not included.
Why it’s a hidden treasure: you get two very different Canaries in one trip – Lanzarote’s volcanic drama, then Fuerteventura’s open space – with the ferry crossing built into the week. Why it’s safe: the operator rates it for intermediate riders, with a support vehicle with the group at all times, and describes safe roads with little traffic.
The ride, the views: Days are generally 65–90km. On Lanzarote the itinerary hits Famara, El Golfo’s green lagoon, Mirador del Río (looking across to La Graciosa) and Timanfaya. Tabayesco – the Ironman classic – is listed by Cycling Locations as about 9.6km at 5%, gaining around 530m to the Mirador de Haría. Then you ferry to Fuerteventura for inland loops via Valle de Santa Inés, Betancuria (the old capital) and La Ampuyenta. It’s a great find for riders who want a guided, fully supported two-island hit without organising the ferry logistics themselves – though note the package is built around a Barcelona group flight, so UK riders need to get themselves to BCN.

4. Lanzarote Road Week (DIY Base) – Canary Biking
Where: Lanzarote (single base, self-guided with GPX)
When: 8-day packages
Price as shown: €1,095 per person
Included (per the operator): accommodation, hire road bike, GPX routes. Confirm board basis and transfers when you book.
Why we like it: last roundup’s Lanzarote pick was Club La Santa’s seniors/international weeks. This is a different operator and a full hotel-plus-bike package aimed at independent road riders. Why it’s safe: Canary Biking highlight quiet volcanic roads and classic north-island loops; ride early and avoid the busiest resort strips, as on every Canary island.
The ride, the views: Expect Tabayesco toward Mirador de Haría, Mirador del Río above La Graciosa, Femés in the south, and the lunar roads through Timanfaya and La Geria’s vines. Routes top out around 600m, but Canary Biking are honest that wind and stacked climbs make the island harder than the elevation chart suggests. Black lava, white villages, Atlantic horizons – and a week that doesn’t require booking into a specific club week. It’s a great find if you want Lanzarote without the Club La Santa calendar.

5. Train Softly, Spend Less: Sporformance Tenerife Bike Camp
Where: Tenerife, Kn Columbus Aparthotel
When: 23–30 January 2027
Price as shown: from €997 in a single room for hotel half board plus guiding/camp support. The operator estimates a full package (with flight and hire bike arranged yourself) at roughly €1,300–€1,450.
Included (per the operator): hotel room with half board, guiding, route scouting and camp support by experienced coaches, small groups by ability. Not included: flights, transfers, bike hire, tourist tax, drinks at dinner. Sporformance note a 10% bike-hire discount via partner Exploratorium Bikes (code on request).
Why we like it: a different Tenerife operator from the camps we listed on 9 October, timed as an early-season kickstarter. The operator’s own warning: Tenerife is very rolling to mountainous, and late-January temperatures are listed at around 16–21°C. Why it’s safe: coached small-group riding with ability splits.
The ride, the views: From a southern Tenerife base you’re in Teide country – the classic coastal-to-caldera climbs through pine forest into Las Cañadas that we covered in more detail last time. Use this week if you want structure and coaching without booking the same camps as Round One. It’s a great find for riders who want a January block and a clear single-room price on the page.

6. La Gomera Road Package – Canary Biking
Where: La Gomera (two bases, self-guided with GPX)
When: 8-day packages
Price as shown: €1,395 per person
Included (per the operator): accommodation across two bases, hire road bike, GPX routes. Transfers/ferry details are on the trip page.
Why it’s a hidden treasure: last time La Gomera appeared as three days bolted onto a Tenerife Bike Tours week. This is a dedicated Gomera road package from a different operator, with two bases so you actually cover the island. Why it’s safe: Canary Biking describe quiet roads and little mass tourism; honest warning from every Gomera operator we’ve seen: there is basically no flat.
The ride, the views: From dry coastal stretches you climb through palms, terraces and villages into Garajonay National Park, where Canary Biking say the asphalt tops out around 1,350m in misty laurel forest. On a clear day Teide floats on the horizon. Compact island, big vertical – which is exactly why climbers love it. It’s a great find if you want La Gomera as the main event, not a ferry add-on.

Worth watching (no price on the page yet)
EPIC Gran Canaria – 12–14 February 2027, two sportive stages from Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas (Stage 1 listed at 112km with timed climbs at Ayagaures and Salto del Perro; Stage 2 at 75km with a timed Tirajana climb). The organiser says registration activates with a Black Friday offer and places are capped (they say last year sold out in 48 hours). We are not inventing an entry price – none was shown on the site on 15 October 2026. Set a reminder for early November if you want it. EPIC Gran Canaria
Muckers Quick Tips for Round Two
- New islands need new logistics. El Hierro usually means Tenerife first, then a ferry or hop flight. Build buffer time into both ends of the trip.
- Wind is the climb on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Check the forecast, start early, and don’t judge a day only by the elevation number.
- Self-guided packages still need fitness. Canary Biking’s GPX weeks assume you can handle Canarian climbing. If you want a van on your wheel, pick Discover Tours or Sporformance instead.
- Hire beats flying the bike on a lot of these weeks – Playitas and the Costa Teguise shops make that easy if you’re already booked into a hotel.
- Pack layers. Sea-level sun and misty summits on El Hierro or Gomera are not the same wardrobe.
- Travel insurance that covers road cycling abroad – and your hire-bike liability if the shop requires it.
That’s Round Two in the bag. If you book one of these – especially El Hierro – we want the ride report. Shout in the group or write it up for the blog. See you on the quieter roads.
Prices and dates were checked on the operators’ own pages on 15 October 2026 and may change. Muckers Worldwide is not affiliated with any of the operators listed.
