Gravel Grinds & Grand Tour Glory: Your Weekly Cycling Fix
Welcome back to the Weekly Round Up! It’s been another massive week in the world of cycling, with everything from grand tour transfers to epic gravel battles. We’ve sifted through the headlines to bring you the news that matters to our community of muckers.
Vuelta a España Buzz
The cycling world is buzzing with anticipation for the 2025 Vuelta a España. The start list is taking shape, and it’s looking like a thrilling three weeks of racing. We’re particularly excited to see Tom Pidcock taking aim at the general classification. It will also be interesting to see how the Visma team with Jonas Vingegaard, Sepp Kuss and Matteo Jorgenson will perform.
Gravel News
In gravel news, Rosa Klöser won the CORE4 race in Iowa, which is part of the Gravel Earth Series. In the UCI Gravel World Series, Femke Markus and Jordan Habets took the top spots at Gravel Grit ‘n Grind. It’s great to see the gravel scene continuing to grow and produce such exciting racing.
Rider and Team News
There have been a few interesting rider and team news this week. Young British GC hope Max Poole is unfortunately out of the Vuelta a España with Epstein-Barr virus. We wish him a speedy recovery. In more positive news, Eddie Dunbar has signed with Q36.5 for 2026, and Human Powered Health has brought on Magnus Backstedt as head DS.
A Boost for Domestic Racing
In a decision that will be welcomed by many, a cycling club and the CTT have been cleared of liability after a rider was hit by a car driver during a time trial. This is a boost for domestic racing and will hopefully encourage more people to get involved in organizing and participating in events.
World Championships in Rwanda
The upcoming UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda are also making headlines. Denmark has decided to cut its team even more, skipping the elite time trials. However, in a heartwarming story, former Junior World Champion Megan Jastrab has launched a fundraiser to help junior women afford to compete at the championships.
