Muckers Tuesday Warm Up Race. 21/02/2023

Rouvy Route Used: GFNY Republica Dominicana | 18.64 miles | 1338.58 ft climbing

Route 3 from the GFNY challenge | HARD

39 Registered | 29 Finishers | 3 dnf | 7 dnf

32 riders on the line for this popular Rouvy Route ( this was only just used in November on another challenge ) and looking at some of the power figures being produced on the official “warm up”, this was looking like a full on race was about to happen! We had 70 minutes to finish this route to be at the start for the main race so we needed to push on a bit to get there in time.

Everyone set off at a crazy pace, totally understandable though, as you needed a good start to get into a decent position and then get your head down and see if you could be involved/draft in a fast group. Several Groups formed with the top riders setting some very high average speeds and powers to keep themselves in the hunt!

The winner of this frantic “warm up”? “feelslikemonday” with a time of 45;20.4!, but, only 33 seconds in front of “hinsbergen” who won the sprint race against his team mate “adampel” who had to settle for the bronze tonight! 4th was another regular to the podium “PatrykS_Ggynia_PL” who just didn’t have enough for top 3, but with such a strong group tonight, this was going to be a hard top 10 to get into, never mind the top 3!

5th was “Floehaner” who seemed to be on his own with fellow German “Stefan793” in 6th a further 40 seconds down the road. 8th came the Spaniard “juan_Fornell“, closely followed over the line by “denny44” in 8th, who in turn was followed in closely by “jakimati” in 9th.

So who gets the last mention? It pretty much could have been any of the next 10 riders as just over 2 minutes separated them all but luckily for us muckers worldwide team, our very own “Chak” came over the line next to claim another top 10 finish for us. He was followed in by another team rider so we had some cover, but I just want to say well done team as we’ve kept our top 10 in every race run going for another race! That’s every race so far this year!!

another 19 riders finished this race, so who was ready for the main race? see the next report to find out….

P.S any comments please share and also, if you want to become a Muckers Worldwide team rider, just change your team name/add a team name on Rouvy and you’re in! you get absolutely nothing for it๐Ÿ˜‰, and we expect nothing in return,๐Ÿ˜† but you are more than welcome, especially if you have been on a few of my races now and expect to do more, we’d love to have you!

A very strange race for me. i set about keeping an eye on the stats screen, keeping my goal of an average 19mph in mind so i was ready for the hill climb racing coming up after this. I managed to do it, and even with an average power of 234w for the whole route, i still only managed 26th place at the end! This was a strong group of riders tonight and I had no chance of a top 20 finish, although I thought I was going to catch otero22 near the end but he just stayed in front of me.

Fast race in a good environment. Short flattened hills with alternate ups and downs, ideal for an exciting race.
I tried to go in a group to advance faster, but with two rivals with me, it was better to try to escape and go solo. Finally the great effort paid off.

This was the second and final ride of the day (I went for a 18 mile outdoor ride), it was supposed to be a chilled ride. I started off steady then started to catch some of the riders that where taking it easy ready for the main ยฃ3k climb on the next ride.

After 7 miles in had overtaken “Mucker1974” and “Otero22”. I was riding with “biffamjb1972” for a about 3 miles whilst catching “Shrek-1970-Challenger”. I could see a hill coming up and I knew if I could keep 3.6 W/kg up the hill I might have a chance of pulling away. It works but then for the last 5 miles it was a solo effort with “Shrek-1970-Challenger” catching me.

In the end I managed to stay ahead but not by mucker. That was me finished for the day “Shrek-1970-Challenger” and “Mucker1974” had the killer climb race 10 minutes later… well done everyone.
