Tour de Suisse 2024 | Stage 1 – Adliswil | 25.1 miles | 2,723 ft. climbing.
No one gets a free pass on a Muckers Championship event! If there’s a challenge route that looks too hard for an easy Tuesday race but isn’t really “Sunday Hill climb” material, then its getting used on a Thursday championship! Case in point is this route (and next weeks) which are pretty hard routes, but not impossible.😉
We had only 59 finishers added up over the 8 start times and after out 3 rules were implemented we only have 53 riders getting some points in this week!
So these are the races and the months for those in the lower half of the categories to start getting in some good points due to the lack of riders completing these summer races and also the decent points spread now for completing a race compared to last years.
Also, don’t forget if you get mentioned below as a top 3 rider, you are doing really well!! this is where you are compared to your closest rivals who match you on power and speed! And even better still, if you are in the overall top 5 in your category at the end of the month, you get added to the “category top 5” world championship table! (see link below)
looks like a 2 horse race for this months win, although if one is a no-show next week they will likely drop a lot of places! This is why we love the ballast! No one is running away with it at the top, and now can VeloBuch do enough to keep BareRemi and his larger ballast at bay?? We are also getting closer to an A5 rider getting into the top 10, so will it finally happen this month?? lets see next week but looking at the scores, top 10 isn’t a guarantee for anyone and that’s just how we like it!
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
very long and tough route. Well over 30 degrees in the pain cave so this was just unpleasant …. even with 2 fans on!! 🥵🥵.
Did my usual fast(ish) start so i could get dragged along as fast as possible to the climbs, but even this was harder than normal as I’d opted to leave the 4 spokes and go 800s for the “help” on the climbs. I’m not the strongest climber, yes i can climb all day, or blast over kickers, but give me a longish climb on a race and i am not good at all, which means the 4 spokes just hold me back even more!
What’s also an extra motivation to finish on these summer night and hard routes, is that with the lack of numbers, you know you are going to get good points as long as you finish, so that’s usually my aim for these, finish! so i did!, not really high but high enough to get good points and I’m now in a really nice 23rd overall in this months championship and possibly on track for my best monthly finish as next weeks is just as tough as tonight’s so I’m not expecting 100s on this one either.
Well done to everyone that finished this and i hope its helped towards the challenge for you.
Tropic Muckers race. I was concerned today about performance, because of warm day. Less riders but with Baremi, lrollin, Velobuch and others sweat was guaranteed. To my surprise i could be in front over initial first climbs, helping to split peloton a bit. Well a bit more, because suddenly we stayed only with Baremi before half of the race.
We worked together, but soon i had to let Baremi lead the pace, because i started to get small cramps. When we reached final hilly section, i continued my own pace, balancing between good enough effort and not getting cramps. Next group was luckily farther behind. Very nice race with both sweat and lot of fun. Thank you all who joined us!
