MUCKERS 2026 APRIL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 1.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

IRONMAN Maryland 30 km | 18.64 miles | 33 ft. elevation

ROUVY SAY: Ride a fast race day slice of Ironman Maryland, winding through the flat Eastern Shore near Cambridge. Open farmland, long straight roads and exposed coastal winds define this 30 km segment, where pacing and focus are the key.

WE SAY: erm, we’d “love” to say; 1st race and lets get our non-draft TT race on! But unfortunately i made a mistake when creating the extra time slots and didn’t make the NOON and BRUNCH versions non-draft so you weren’t able to select the TT bikes for those 2 versions, although you could at least draft. Really sorry about this, but once i was made aware of the issue, the NOON ride had already finished and the BRUNCH ride was just about to start and ROUVY don’t allow you to edit any races so close to the start time. So we let it run anyway as it was still better than deleting the event and no one getting any points. Sorry again but nothing i can do about it now, but at least wanted to apologies, especially to those who had gotten themselves ready to attack an 18 mile TT.

DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE SEPERATE TT BLOG & GC!!

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Sunday Hill Climb:

Another double header!! 1st one is the 22.6 mile long: RideCymru 2026 | Sennybridge to Brecon which has a nice 1814ft. of elevation and we have given you 78 minutes to get to the 2nd one in time to set off together for the 19.8 mile long: Grand Teton Pass West | Wyoming which has 2300ft of elevation. So all in we will do 4114ft of elevation over 42 miles. Pretty much a steady 1:1 ratio for us using old money lol

Search “Muckers Sunday” to find all the Hill Climbs we have scheduled so far.

Tuesday w/kg training championship (totally optional!)

The first Tuesday of the month means we are finally back to the nice and easy 2.0w/kg target! after last weeks 3.0, this will be a much less frantic affair!! We are using the 12.9 mile North Fork Rd | Zion | USA challenge route but remember its totally optional if you want to concentrate on the w/kg target. We set these Races up for you to use as you wish, race, train, pace or whatever, lets just get the challenge route done together. We set up the training championship for those who fancy trying to ride to a set figure which inadvertently created a group ride situation in a race format! win-win

Search “Muckers Tuesday” to find all the start times we have available for this event, as all start times get included in the championship.

P.S: we have also squeezed in another challenge route as a warm up just before the main race at 18:20 (UK) where we use the La Tolfe to Montechiaro | Strade Bianche | Italy route. 45 mins to get this 11.9 mile / 1070ft route done is pretty chill for most of you so an ideal warm up

Thursday World Championship Round 2.

Back to full draft racing and we have selected the 19.8 mile long Geraardsbergen to Ronse via Kanarieberg | Belgium challenge route. Classic Belgium race route with a bit of everything thrown in so should be a great race route.

Search “Muckers April” to find all the different start times and all the routes we have selected so far for this month! Its gonna be a good month!

TO FINISH OFF:

Hope everyone managed to “enjoy” this first race. It was a proper challenge wasn’t it!

Hope everyone is fine with there categories this month, especially those movers from last month! Good luck to those that went up as you are in for a tougher month but can you stay up?? Those that went down, well, you need to prove us wrong and smash your category, get into the top 50 of the GC so you get those 10 bonus points, and then move up for Mays championship! simples! 🥴

Reminder our 2026 merch is now in the shop, as is the Owayo 2026 kit! We’ve finally pried ourselves away from our orange and blue retro color’s for this year to celebrate our Muckers Meating trip to Italy, but this color scheme is only for 2026 so if you like it, get your purchases in before its too late.

Thanks for reading and commenting on the blog, especially those who read to the very end, means a lot.

TT! love and hate them. I can’t hide in the draft and use my kick over the little humps, i’ve gotta show everyone my “pure” power. oh crap! lol. Game plan: Rapid but controlled start to get myself over 20mph asap then settle into 90rpm and hopefully keep the power around 2.7ish. Start was good, settled in quite well in the top 30 and got the legs going. I was stuck with a dilemma! i can do 2.9s but worried i might bonk later on… or won’t i??? stuck to it and was really happy when i hit half way and my average w/kg was 2.9 , but soon after i start to fatigue.. so now its the test! i’m switching between 22nd and 23rd gears just to switch up the cadence and trying to keep my speed from dropping below 25mph. This was hard! But i just about did it and was absolutely spent as i crossed the line, especially after my stupid head told me to empty the tank for the last quarter of a mile!!! But looking back at it, I’m pretty happy with it. average of 250 watts is really good for me, especially at a “constant” power.

Also pleasantly surprised I’m not dead last in my category since i moved up. Lets see how the month goes, but i’d love to stay in the top 5 so i now have my targets for the month!

    • Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

Great job Neil! I was in a different heat, but my race was pretty much like yours. “This is too easy” at start and over-exerted just a little (235W for first half – I’m 76kg), dropping to 231W the second half. Not perfect, but at least I didn’t bonk. Probably a really good thing this time that I rode one of the off-time races ’cause I think if I’d been in the primary time slot I would have been even more tempted to overcook it. As it was, I had the “pleasure” of riding pretty much by myself after passing our friend cdtchris early on. Maybe one day we’ll learn how to pace a TT like SLudford – I can dream :). Cheers to all.

  2. Mike Hagen says:

TT: love it or hate it? I was thinking about that today. Some love it, some hate it; but it’s really nice, Neil, to schedule a regular race where some riders can show that they are really good at this thing. Like me. I love TTs! I’ve been getting some good results for the past month or so, and decided to treat this like a Tuesday pace race, with a 4.0 W/kg target. That’s 272 watts for me. Six minutes in, I was breathing heavily, and some doubts were creeping in, did I go too hard trying to stay with karel_sousek? But I held the pace and it actually started feeling more manageable. That was about the time I drifted away from Micken. Halfway and I was reeling in IvanSagan86, trying to remember: is he in A2 this month? Was he a rival? Couldn’t figure it out; not enough oxygen for my brain. Caught and finally dropped Ivan, and now Ludwigdb was my carrot. I was gaining, but only 100 m over the last 10 km; never got him on the screen. Into the last km, emptying the tank doing 4.5 and 5s, and finished absolutely spent averaging 273 watts. I couldn’t have done even 1 watt higher. New FTP, and my highest FTP in the past three years. Very pleased with that! Kudos to all that finished; that was tough for a short, flat one.

  3. paul bernstein says:

Okey dokey, a dead flat ITT, all 63kg of me. Yum…the positives, I got to ride my bright red Trek TT bike and with Rouvy special TT helmet , I finished 31, averaging 43.6 km an hour, not too shabby for little old me (awww). , I rode the Wednesday recon event so I got to watch the main event on Thursday…and tuned in for the “I love TTs Mike Hagen performance…wow)….now what?? I looked ahead for the rest of the month, three nicely hilly challenging routes. My playground .:-). Look forward to seeing y’all. cheers

  4. Paul bateman says:

Cool TT 🙂 I was not expecting a good result with my ongoing shoulder pain (is getting better though) but turned out pretty good. Tactic was ride with cadence. Forget power, heart rate, speed. Just ride at 92-94 rpm in whatever gear i can maintain

  5. Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

I had a decent TT race last month so I thought maybe this month I could hit it a bit harder. My plan was to push hard at the start and get my Specialized Shiv moving and stay above 3.1 w/kg to the halfway mark, then try and stay above 3.0 till the end (2.9 is usually my top end). I didn’t catch anyone (didn’t expect to and only got passed by a few much stronger riders than me) so I felt good 3 qtr’s in. Thanks to Duckman2 for being a great pace partner until the end (I expected him to just keep pulling away). I would have loved to have a little left to kick at the finish but, I was wiped out. I gave it my all and felt great about my 3.0 w/kg average, a 25.9 mph average, and a 25th place finish.

    • Neil Rushby says:

Well done! That was a really strong effort! I am using an iPhone for my screen at the moment so i only have 3 nearby riders on my list, but you were there a lot! I just couldn’t get to you! I did try twice but i knew i was pushing too hard to close the gap so i just backed off and stuck to my game plan. I know we are in different categories this month but you are my red rag to my erm bull! Congrats on leading A7 and if i can stay in A6, i totally expect you to be my category rival next month as well as my “normal” rival in the race!

      • Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

To be honest, you were my driver. I was watching you and definitely noticed when you cut into the gap, which was really small for quite awhile. My cadence was lower than I would have like but, i had to mash the higher gears to keep my speed up. I was probably out of the saddle for half the ride but, it worked. When I saw BTK_JIRI70_CZ pass you and continue to cut into the gap I put everything I had left into finishing ahead of him. Even though there was no draft it really helped riding with Duckman2 the last quarter.

  6. Dominique EddyDomino RODRIGUEZ says:

OK, I was ready for the TT, a wonderful TT bike, some great wheels, let’s go… I was not worrying entering the race less than 2 mn before the start, but I saw a warning message indicating that the TT bike was not allowed 😱 Surely, the machine swap to the cool purple Rouvy bike! So, I had no other choice to leave the race, to choose in hurry another bike, and start again. It was difficult to be prepared for a non-draft TT, and have a normal race with and have a small amount of cool riders on my luggage rack preparing the final sprint! However, I rode like a TT maintaining a steady high pace all the time thinking at the final GC and mainly didn’t look at my companions.
As Paul said, I’m looking forward to racing with the nice hilly routes to come.
See you all next Thursday 😜

    • Neil Rushby says:

I was getting through the comments and was hoping my mistake hadn’t impacted too many, so i am really sorry Mucker i will do my best not to let this happen again. Kudos for riding like a TT anyway when you didn’t have to. Respect!

  7. Michael Hannen says:

I am enjoying the TT events far more than I thought I would but I’ll not lie they do hurt. Anyway, Thursday again – they come round fast. What shift am I on? Who will I be asking to swap shifts with so I can ride in the 18:30 slot? No need as I am on earlies but it’s the current Mrs MNHROUVY’s wedding anniversary and she wants a return on her 38 years. Not to worry a no draft TT means a level playing field across all time slots so I plan around the 12:30 slot.
Early race meant I needed to get organised and get my ‘s**t in one sock”.
Usual Thursday ritual starts with the weigh in and weight update on Rouvy. Whilst I’m there download the route and select my Red TREK TT bike, I even opt for a TT helmet hoping it will offset the slight weight increase.
I started my warm up late and got a message to let me know my red rocket wasn’t allowed and my bike had defaulted to Rouvy’s road bike. I try a re-load but get the same message, time to limit the damage and opt for my TREK road bike and hope the helmet helps.
A decent start in esteemed company but BareRemi immediately aborts (I reckon he realised he had defaulted to a Rouvy road bike). This leaves me in the unusual position of 1st place which I hold onto for the remainder of the race.
Happy with a 3.4 average which proves the threshold stuff I have done recently may have been worth the hurt. Happy with the race win and 35th overall, not happy with the restaurant bill to celebrate Mrs MNHROUVY’s wedding anniversary.

    • Neil Rushby says:

Happy Anniversary!!! And i can only repeat what i said to EddyDomino above, i am so sorry and will do my best to double check these TT races as i create them (its an extra 2 clicks/options when doing it) and also re-check the day before! Looks like being Stuck out front alone instigated a TT on you anyway BUT on the wrong Bike so that’s a great performance considering. Kudos and sorry again

  8. Mr Steven Ludford says:

    A pan flat 18 mile TT .. nice for a 99kg rider.
My best ‘real life outside’ average speed over a similar (25 mile) distance is 27.2mph on a rolling elevation with wind. I don’t quite have that ability anymore but calculated I could possibly maintain 300w and 27mph on this one on Rouvy. They were the only numbers I focused on and I ignored everybody on route completely. I fell fractionally short on my target, I couldn’t find anything more, but very happy with the even pacing and controlled heart rate throughout. A good performance. Now back to getting beaten up by everyone on the drafting races.

    • Neil Rushby says:

Well done Ste! My focus was not to let the speed go under 25! I think i hit 27 on the bit that was downhill lol! “nd in your cat BUT Bates looks very strong so it’ll be interesting to see where he, you and myself end up after 4 races to see if all 3 of us are indeed in the right one or not.

      • Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

You 3 are all strong, but – no disrespect intended – my A6 bet is in rouvy1bryon. I’m thinking he wants to get back to A5 pronto. But who knows – looks to be a great fight regardless! Just wish I was in it instead of sucking wind in A5 this month. I’m gonna get back at Klinthomie eventually – I blame him completely for what I expect will be my brief time as an A5. Having fun of course. Cheers!

        • Mr Steven Ludford says:

I agree, once we hit the hills rouvy1bryon will be very strong in this category.

        • Neil Rushby says:

no disrespect received Eric. I was just trying to say it’d be interesting to see how mine, Ste and Bates points spread widens over the next 3 races to see if this is the category of death and I’m stuck here for eternity…. never winning it…. but never going down either lol. ( i just really miss A7, it was my happy place lol)

  9. Karel Soušek says:

HR meter issues at the start so i spent half minute in sensor settings instead proper kick off. When i came back i was ~20th but soon i realized i can put solid effort. Knowing i cant compete with heavier riders i focused to ride close to ~280w avg and it worked pretty well. Moved into top10 as some strong guys did not join and could see Niels ahead with 120-150m gap. Good effort and glad i did recon race yesterday as i will get dsq without hr data. Thank you all who joined us!

    • Neil Rushby says:

Hey Karel, Its nice you are concerned about the HR meter even if its just for yourself, but we are really trying to get to a “verified” racer system so we don’t remove those that have proven in the past to be trust worthy. We dsq’d a known legit rider last week and it just didn’t sit right so we are trying to sort it. Also now we don’t have NITEOR’s help to do this automatically, its quite time consuming to check everyone’s stats which is also open to errors on my part as sometimes, when checking it during the day on my phone can lead to the hr data not loading up 1st time, but i go out and back in again and its there. Something to do with the usual ROUVY/Apple relationship i think but probably not something that will get reported as how many people do what i do? The whole idea behind requesting HR data is to keep those ebike riders away, not punish those that love to race with us, so we will get there.

ps, you can see from the results we went with your best time anyway as you are one of the Verified Rider.

  10. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

I rode on Wednesday because Thursday my work schedule was orribile but I’m lucky that this is the first race on the month and don’t change nothing.
I try to change 52/36 I’m usually used 54/30, and still jet don’t know which is the best… I start a little hard, but after few km I try to find a good pace, I ride with Ratim for half route and Yumile, but I just know I can’t hold they for long time. At the end I’m not very happy to my performance, but I see I take the 3rd position in A4? Oh my good… I must work harder to stay in top 3…. Mission hard and impossible… I look forward what’s happening 👏💪🦈
