2026 MUCKERS RULES AND REGS:

HERE ARE ALL THE PROVISIONAL RULES AND REGS FOR ALL OUR 2026 EVENTS:

Muckers Sunday Hill Climb:

The 2025 Hill climb series was a great success. The format was simple: change our 2024 “Muckers Sunday Climb” and “Muckers Sunday Social” rides/races into a bit of a championship but base it just on elevation gained. So taking the ethos of trying to arrange Sunday rides using challenge routes, but adding a bit of a leaderboard for those that fancied it. We started off with just the Morning version but three quarters of the way through the year, we added the afternoon one due to increased requests. Both are now similar in participation so that will carry on in 2026. “AM” in the tile for the 9:15 version and “PM” in the title for the 16:15 version

All races are smart trainer only

The championship is quite Basic. Make Sure you complete the route then your total elevation climbed will be your “points” in the GC. We ask for HR data but only just in case we ever need to look back on anything in the future. But we don’t check over the results afterwards and delete anyone, but if we are made aware of anyone blatantly cheating or riding unrealistically, we will just blacklist you from the event so you don’t show up in the NITEOR results. Its a Smart trainer only race, again just to keep some kind of control over it. But as we’ve seen this year, most do use it as a group ride and really try to help and encourage each other to complete it. We think taking away that “fastest rider gets the most points” aspect to the GC, really did help with getting people to see it differently. Yes you can still go for it and try and set a really fast time, but most just look at doing everything just to complete it.

It has to be set up as a “Race” so we get the credit when we use a challenge route. We always try and use 1 or 2 challenge routes that add up around or more than 3000ft. If we don’t have a challenge route, we will try and find a route to use, and sometimes we will make it multiple choice. For example, earlier in 2025 we had a free weekend so we set up 4 or 5 different climbs but all at various elevation levels so it’s then up to you which you choose to ride. If we ever do this multiple choice again, please make sure you only do one in either the AM slot or PM slot. if you do one at each slot, we will see that as getting an unfair advantage and your smallest elevation ride will be removed from the GC. This is only for the “choice” races. If it’s a 1 of 2 or 2 of 2 climb, you can do one in the morning and one in the afternoon if you wish like we allowed in 2025.

We usually do an update blog after every 5 races have been run.

Muckers Tuesday Races/w/kg Training

The Tuesday Races have always been the race you come to and do what you like. Again we always try and use a challenge route and we have multiple start times starting late Monday night at 23:30 and going through Tuesday till we have the main Race at 19:05 (all times in UK) The event is listed on NITEOR with the GC based on the usual best points for 1st and gradually decreasing the further down you finish. This will carry on and will be looked after by NITEOR.

All races are smart trainer only

However! We want to create a parallel championship based on training and a targeted w/kg for a particular week, ramping up the effort as the month goes along. So week 1 will be closest to 2.0w/kg, week 2 will be closest to 2.3w/kg, week 3 will be closest to 2.5w/kg, week 4 closest to 2.8w/kg and on those odd occasions with 5 Tuesdays, the 5th week will be closest to 3.0w/kg. It’s kinda like trying to create a group ride, but also allowing us to get the challenge route credit (which you can’t get if you set up an event on ROUVY as an actual group ride) Also it’s just to give us something new to aim for, rather than just flat out, then trying to go flat out again on Thursday for the World Championship. But i also didn’t want to just pick the same w/kg level for every week, so went with a ramped up structure so it just gets a bit harder as the month goes on. People might take to it, others might just stick to flat out, which is totally fine as that event will still be there as well.

So hopefully you will know which w/kg target it is, based on which Tuesday of the month it is. But i will also just add the number in brackets at the end of the race description as well, so if you see this number, you will know what it means,

It’ll last for the whole year rather than a reset at the end of the month like the Thursday world championship

So Tuesdays you will have 2 championships, but you can chose which one to focus on. The flat out standard one like we did in 2025, or this w/kg one. You’ll be in both anyway as NITEOR brings all the data across from the race, its just up to us organizers how we want to load it into a certain events and more importantly, how we want the leaderboard to look

Tuesdays start times: (UK) also the “names” are what we use in the race titles so if you find the one that works for you, that’s the one you need to search for. We schedule all the extra start times first, then the main race last, but, i only send invites to the main race as to not bombard your notifications with all the invites to all the start times. So all i ask is that you use my main race invite as a reminder that all the other start times will have already been scheduled and are out there waiting for you to register.

23:30 (on the Monday Night) called: “2LATE4ME”

05:30 “2EARLY4ME”

09:30 “RISE&RIDE”

12:30 “NOON”

15:30 “BRUNCH”

19:05 MAIN RACE

We schedule all these start times hoping to allow as many from around the world to be part of this and all the results get blended into one big leaderboard on NITEOR

My plan is to do a blog update for the w/kg event at the end of every month.

Muckers World Championship. Thursdays.

This is the main event! Just Racing to finish as high as you can and get as many points as you can. We will be starting in January in 2026 and running this over the first 4 weeks every month of the year. So every month is its own 4 week mini championship. The 1st aim is to get enough points over the 4 races to win. If you can’t do that, the next aim is to get enough points to be classified in the top 50 as it’s the top 50 places that get put into a separate leaderboard, called the World Championship Table! Then at the end of the year, its whoever finishes top of this table that gets crowned the Muckers World Champion! That’s it in a nutshell….. But here’s some rules and other bits of info:

All races will be smart trainer only

The points system is staying the same for 2026 down to 51st place, but then from 52nd onwards, they will only change by 0.1 increments rather than the current 0.25. It’s a small change but it’s been done so we keep as many of those riders who just finished outside the top 50 in the race, much closer to the cut off as possible. If we have a much higher amount of riders from say 40th to 60th all within just a few points of each other before the last race, it will have succeeded in what we want it to achieve, but we have to try it to see.

The Ballast system is staying the same as 2025. The top 10 at the end of the month all get varying amounts of “ballast” added to them to carry for the rest of the year. going from 2.5% for 1st down to 0.25% for 10th. This “ballast” is then the percentage your points scored gets deducted by for the rest of the year. It’s just a way to stop the top 3 or 10 being the same every single month and someone running away and winning the worlds by the end of September! It’s about keeping everyone engaged for the whole year, as it’s a training app remember and doesn’t need to be won asap! The more successful you are, the more ballast you get. Simple.

For races 2, 3 & 4 we have three set rules. you have to supply heart rate data, no Males can be under 60kgs (if you are actually under, just set your weight to 60 for the championship night so you don’t get a DSQ) and also no average powers of 5.0w/kg or over. It’s a formula we have used since last year and we think it’s quite fair.

For the 1st race every month only hr data required will be the rule we use out of our normal three rules. This is because for the 2026 championship, the first race of the month (December will be at the last race of the month!) will be a no-draft TT style race. So we don’t want to penalize anyone, or make them hold back, as it should just be you against the clock and that’s it. We will also be running this TT race as a separate championship on NITEOR! So a 12 round TT championship running on the first Thursday (apart from December where it will be over a few days on the last Thursday) of every month. So if all you want to do is concentrate on this one event for the year, you can keep track of it. But it will also be the first round of the normal championship (apart from December) as well so yet another race within a race set up. Also, remember, non-draft TT races on Muckers Races means you can use the TT bike! If we see this first round leaderboard starting to fill up with riders under 60kgs, we will ask for proof of weight and if we don’t receive anything, the rider will be blacklisted from all Muckers events. This is the only part of any event we are trialing this “any weight” so don’t take the piss… please…..

As we said above about the TT races, then all the rest of that months races will be full on draft races apart from the “RECON” race on a Wednesday. We only set up this RECON race to help those who can’t make the Main Thursday race, but we don’t want to create a “rival” race to our classic Thursday night race so we feel a non-draft version on the Wednesday is a happy medium. So here’s World championship start times:

19:30 (Wednesday) “RECON” non-draft version

23:30 (Wednesday) “2LATE4ME”

05:30 “2EARLY4ME”

09:30 “RISE&RIDE”

12:30 “NOON”

15:30 “BRUNCH”

18:30 “MAIN RACE”

We schedule all the extra races first then send invites to the “RECON” and the “MAIN RACE” so please remember to use these as reminders that all the start times in between have already been scheduled and are ready for you to register to them.

We schedule all these start times hoping to allow as many from around the world to be part of this and all the results get blended into one big leaderboard on NITEOR

The horrible subject of cheating and accusations. We have always tried to publicly just say the blatant cheaters need to be removed but those marginal ones, that’s really too hard to police! But as the Muckers championship got more and more competitive, more and more people get accused of cheating, either because of someone just being a bad looser or an actual fault happened to the accused on that race and they are on with fixing it. We have always waiting till we get at least 3 or 4 separate reports from different riders before we look into anyone. We have always done this, but in the background as it’s just not a nice topic and never really wanted it public just in case it gave more reason for people to waste our time and use it as a way to get competition removed. So as we’ve said before, this whole thing is to race against each other as realistic as we can be, as if we are all really out there in the real world racing against each other. So, if you get accused by 3 or 4 other riders, or we see somethings off, we will try and look into your real world data to see if it correlates. We know what to look for, we are not looking for exactly the same stats as we know that’s impossible, we are just looking (for example) to see if that 280watt/25 mph/ 20 mile average rider on ROUVY, isn’t a 125watt 13mph average rider out there in the real world and only managing 10 mile rides etc etc. If we are happy, nothing gets said to the accused and we reply to the accuser and explain our stance. If however, we aren’t happy with the accused outdoor rides, or they don’t have any, we will try and start a dialogue to see if they can confirm there trainer is calibrated, have any other data we can see etc etc and if we feel we aren’t getting anywhere, we will have to remove that rider from the championship until we get some back up data. Both the accused and the accuser will be checked the same way. Also to the accusers, if you are constantly emailing us and turning into the cheat police, you will be asked to leave as well as it just gets toxic! So think carefully before you start accusing and maybe sleep on it first. Its meant to be fun, but we also understand its meant to have ( or we hope KEEP) some credibility as well

This is how we treat glitches. We won’t change any result because of a glitch that meant you didn’t finish the race. It sounds harsh, and when it happens to you it’s like the end of the world, we’ve been there! But if we all know the deal before hand, then you all know everyone will be treated the same. Maybe try and make sure you do the earliest version of the race, so if you do glitch, you give yourself the chance to at least have another bite of the apple later on. Try to make sure you do all you can to minimize the glitch with your set up, download the route first is always a good one because if you do glitch on a race you haven’t downloaded, you tend to get kicked from the race. If you glitch and you have downloaded it, you see everyone else freeze but you get to keep going and if the connection is restored, all of a sudden it all springs back into life. But keep pedaling because if you cross the line, you still have a chance to be included in the ROUVY finishing order. Its only a chance though, not a guarantee. Another good way to stop it is while you think it might just be about to happen, when you see the screen freezing or throwing you back 50ft or whatever, is jump to map mode! I myself have to do this and it tends to work, especially if there’s a lot of action going on on the screen in front of me. Mine seems to like throwing me back out of the draft when i am in a pack of about 10 and going around a corner! We exit the corner and BOOM the pack is 70ft up the road and I’ve lost all the draft! So yes, i have personally experienced it and also been kicked from a race when i didn’t download it. It is horrible, but we have to stick to the rule that we only use the data from ROUVY and that doesn’t care if you finish or DNF 10 feet from the line. Just see the glitch as a major mechanical failure or you failed a drug test! Even if we see you were about to cross the line, if you aren’t listed as a finisher on ROUVY, then you are a DNF on the muckers championship as well.

If you get a DSQ but then get it over turned on appeal, we need to know asap. We will give you till the start of the following weeks race (so Before the “Recon” race starts) to let us know. We can then add your result back into the table, relearn and be ready for the next round of races. We need to set a time scale and we feel this is enough time to sort it. Anything that comes to us after the “Recon” race has started will be too late and your DSQ will stand.

The world championship points are quite simple. Top 50 riders from the month Get a simple 50 points for 1st down to 1 point for 50th and added to the leaderboard. We are also doing this based on your best 10 scores out of the 12 months. So you can basically have 2 months of no scores and it won’t affect your world championship campaign. We did best 10 of 11 in 2025 as we had January off anyway, but as we are starting a month earlier in 2026, we wanted to keep it the same and allow riders to make up there own minds if they wanted a month off before getting into it.

The top 3 in each of the 10 categories will also get bonus world championship points, but only if they finished in the top 50 at the end of the month. 1st will get 10, 2nd 7 and 3rd 5. We really want to reward those that do really well in there categories for the month, But didn’t want it to mess with the final positions of the monthly standings so we think this is the best way to do it as we might get the winners of Category 8 or 9 just sneaking into the worlds top 50 with just 1 point, but then get a superb bump of 10 points as a bonus for winning the category. So the category Bonus points are just that, Bonus points to go with your other world championship points and not in any way affect the order of the monthly championship.

As an extra-extra little motivational tool, any of the races that have a total elevation of 1750ft or above will also be included in a separate “mountain classification” alongside the normal general classification! So you can also go for King of the Mountain over the year as well!!!

We do a weekly blog and points update every Thursday night and this is also one of the reasons we removed the 2025 “BIT-LATER” race that we ran on Thursdays at 19:30 and moved it to the day before and called it “RECON” so we can get onto the blog much earlier and get it finished at a more reasonable time rather than the midnights I’ve been typing till in 2025!🥱🥴

Remember this is a free to enter championship. If you don’t agree with the rules, regs and the way we run it, then don’t do it. We don’t mind suggestions for the following years championship (some have been added this year) but we aren’t getting into any arguments about any of it once it starts. Their really is a lot of championships and races being organized on ROUVY which are also easily found on NITEOR for everyone to be happy.

Muckers TT championship.

Like we mentioned above, the 1st race every month will be a non-draft TT race. So Just you against the clock to set the best time you can. So we are taking the first race from all 12 months and making them it’s own Mini championship.

Just supply Heart Rate data is the only one of our rules for this championship, but anyone found to be just be pushing the rules of fair competition will just be blacklisted. You can keep track on it via the tile on NITEOR with the image above.

Muckers HIIT nights:

Whenever we have 5 Thursdays in a month, we like to organize an event we usually call “one night of HIIT” events. Basically a stand alone event that we try to make approx. 60 mins long with as many short races scheduled in it as possible. So you are on the start line for the first one, you sprint and give it the beans for about 60 to 120 seconds depending on your power, then recover as you make your way to the next race and get into the start shoot in time for the next one. It replicated a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session, but in a more fun and competitive way. We try to make the gaps work out for everyone so you all get that recovery time between races.

ANY THOUGHTS?

We think we have everything covered but if you can think of anything we might have missed or would like better clarification on then please let us know asap. These are just provisional at the moment even though this is how we want to do it and once 2026 starts, these will be the rules for the year.

Do you get the metres credited on Niteor if you only do one of the Sunday Hill Climbs on a double header weekend?

    • Neil Rushby says:

Hi Alan, yes, if you only do one of them, you’ll get the metres for that one as long as you cross the line. If you see them as 2 separate events , so climb 1 has 2 start times of 9:15 and 16:15, then climb 2 is a totally sperate event with start times of say 10:40 and 17:40.

This is why some do climb 1 in the morning and climb 2 in the afternoon so they still get 2 lots of meters in, but have a longer rest between climbs. Some have done climb 2 in the morning and then climb 1 in the afternoon so they stay in bed longer lol.

These options are only available for the double header Sundays. When its a multiple choice weekend ( which we only had 1 of in the whole of 2025) then its just one climb allowed for that day.

  2. Bart Cuppen says:

So many great races in 2025, thanks Neil and your team!!

the Sunday hill climbs are already great format, I am glad we’re having a great winner this year to take the QOM.
as for the Tuesday races, I love the flat out format. Including a group ride within can be interesting, but I wonder whether “2.0 w/kg” in the title will confuse some rouvy-ers into thinking its not a race but a group ride (?) but anyways, could also attrack more riders, who knows.

As for the Thursday rides, is it only the TT race that is uploaded to NITEOR or every Thursday race?

Keep up the good work, I’ll be joining in 2026 even more frequently than 2025 😎
    Happy holidays everyone

    • Neil Rushby says:

Hi Bart, thank you so much for jumping into the comments. This is exactly why i wanted to get these provisional rules out now so we can iron this stuff out.

Yes we might see “sunniva” win the Sunday Hill climb championship! She’s been so consistent and strong she does deserve it if she gets it!

The Tuesdays will still be a flat out race if you want and i agree with you about adding the (2.0w/kg) into the title so i went with just the number in brackets (2.0) so those that know and want to do it know. and those that ask what it means, i can explain. It might take a bit for some to get use to it, but we’ve got all year 😏 I have already set a few up so if you search them you will see they look no different to my normal race set up, they just have the number in brackets after the word race.

Thursdays championship will be on NITEOR as per usual. They have actually upgraded it so i don’t need a new “tile” every month and at the end of the month i can archive the results and then carry on, so after race 4, it’ll be the start of Februarys championship but that will be race 5 to 8 then March will be 9 to 12 and so on and so on. This is just to try and keep from filling up NITEOR with loads of monthly tiles plus be able to keep everyone’s categories a bit more realistic. But the TT one will have its own championship tile as well so those that are just interested in that, can just pop over to that event and see how they are doing.

      • Bart Cuppen says:

        Thanks Neil for your response!

Ah so sunniva explained and I see now, but you could also take the KOM on the MSHC, very exciting finale this Sunday!! May the best one win 😀

In 2026, I think I’ll join as many Tuesday races to get a better ranking than this year (>60th), even though not every participant is racing for the win and your Thursdays are more prestigious, I still like the vibe of so many going all out, and the long list in GC (cumulative over one year).
The 2.0 / group ride format could be interesting, hope this makes things interesting for all participants.

Thanks for explaining the Thursday races and GC, I missed the tile on NITEOR because it was a bit further down sorry.
I am not sure yet I can make it to all Thursday races because of work and other sports, but I’ll join as many as I can 😀

Looking forward to all Muckers events 2026.

        all the best,
        Bart

    • Sunniva says:

Thanks, Bart. I appreciate all the help on Sunday’s climbs, and the thumbs up I’m getting really makes me happy.

If I stay QOM, the next competitor will be KOM, so it’ll all work out well 🙂

      • Bart Cuppen says:

Oh yeah sorry I see that Neil can still pass you, are you in for next Sunday?
Either of you would be great winners haha 😉

        • Neil Rushby says:

Maybe you guys are getting meters and feet mixed up as by my calculation, Sunniva is 9222.44ft in front of me and Sundays End of year big race is “only” 4993ft so she has won it! The question is, is by how much as this end of year big race will be difficult to finish. And Sunniva doesn’t need to finish to win! What a fantastic amount of climbing she’s done and reading her posts on here and on Strava, she seems to have enjoyed to event and the amount of support we have all given each other along the way.

For me, if i miss the end of year big race and EddyDomino finishes it, i loose 2nd place and drop to 3rd. Still a podium, but it’s just enough motivation for me to finish it …. hopefully…..

  3. Klinthomie says:

Just wanted to comment and say thank you for the effort! I appreciate it so much!

  4. KonaBleit says:

First, thanks for the great races in 2025! Should TT races be spread over two days in other months as they are in January?

    • Neil Rushby says:

hi, you will only have the recon version on the Wednesday then the normal times on the Thursday after the first race in 2026. I only did a full 2 days for the first race just due to the Thursday being New Years Day.
