MUCKERS 2026 MARCH CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 2.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

IRONMAN Kalmar-Sweden 40km | 24.85 miles | 732 ft. Elevation

ROUVY SAYS: Ride a compact taste of Ironman Kalmar, rolling out along the Baltic shoreline and through flat Småland countryside. Smooth tarmac, wide skies and coastal winds shape this short 40 km ride, echoing the rhythm and openness of Ironman race day.

WE SAY: ermmmmm “compact”?? Nearly 24 miles and not exactly flat-flat with over 700ft of elevation so lets agree to disagree shall we lol. BUT!! It’s definilty been a while since we’ve had a flat route for a championship race so lets enjoy it whilst we can as they will be few and far between. Lets get our draft on!!

88 riders after our rules added. Well done everyone and lets see what that’s done!

*Ballast added to this table

The Aim here is to get into the top 50 positions by the end of each 4 week period. If you do, you get World Championship points that are updated every month for the year.

Top 10 at the end of the Month get ballast added which is basically a percentage figure your points get deduced by.

We use your best 10 Months Out of 12 for the world championship.

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

SUNDAY!

Muckers Hill Climb is another double header as we do everything in our power to squeeze in all the challenge routes into our 3 racing days, so we are using 2 quite “easy” ones which will add up to 4780 feet over the 24.92 miles combined. Just search “Muckers Hill” and you will find all the ones we haver scheduled so far, AM means the 2 early ones, and PM the 2 later ones. Also as a side note, you are more than welcome to do 1 in the AM and the other in the PM, just don’t waste your time doing the same one twice as you only get one lot of elevation per route. We have given you 75 mins to complete the first one and to be in the shoot for the 2nd one but remember you can be up to 29 mins late for the 2nd so don’t stress too much! Also Remember to keep an eye out for the up to date blog as we try to supply you with the latest GC positions as soon as we can.

The 2 challenge routes we are using are:

Winnetou – road to film location (Croatia)

Arani – Vacas – Juntu Tuyu | Bolivia

TUESDAY:

We hit the w/kg training championship and this Tuesday’s target is 2.5w/kg. Nice easy challenge route to do it on as well. You can chose any of the 6 start times we have scheduled and all you have to do is try and be as close to an average of 2.5w/kg as you cross the line. 10 points for hitting it, 9 points for being 0.1 off and so on and so on. Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the search function on ROUVY and the scheduled Tuesday races will be shown. As per the hill climb, we will do our best to update the blog as soon as we can so you can see how the GC looks

Here is the challenge route we are using:

IRONMAN 70.3 Emilia Romagna 30 km

THURSDAY:

Championship race 3! Here is the route:

DATEV Challenge Roth 40 km | Germany | 23.61 miles | 1,358 ft. elevation

A much tougher route than today, but still should be a lot of fun, just don’t blow up on that long climb we hit just after 2 miles!! 7 start times (the extra one over the Tuesday schedule is the non-draft Recon we run the day before) and remember we are still doing as many checks as we can on the championship race. This means if you get caught with no hr data, you will be a dsq and if you hit 5.0w/kg or above average, you will also get a dsq. This isn’t to call you a cheat, its just the rules we put in to stop the blatant cheats or those with iffy set ups that are giving them an unfair advantage. We are also still watching out for those under 60kg males who if caught, will also be a dsq… 👀

Just search “Muckers Championship” in the ROUVY events search function and all the races will come up

Blog will be done once we compile all the scores and we repeat what we have done here.

TO FINISH OFF:

Race 2 is all done! That was a great race if you got in the right pack and got some good draft! hope everyone enjoyed it!

Please let us know if you see anything wrong or a glitch we haven’t noticed. We know that some of the riders might be in the wrong Cat, but we will address this at the end of the month and you never know, the promotion and relegation might fix most of it anyway.

Lets get this blog out there shall we, so all that’s left is my usual thank you to everyone who makes this all possible and thank you for reading this blog, especially those who read to the very end!

Excellent race for me. Well inside the top 35 in my race and after the dsq’s, I’ve ended up in 31st with some superb points that’s got me nicely inside the top 50 in the GC now. I always seem to have a better start when I’m using my iPhone as my screen rather than the glitchy iPad and tonight was no different. Rapid start to see if i could hang onto the main pack which i did for about 3 or 4 miles but then it was just too hot a pace that i got dropped and i recovered as best i could until the next pack came along and i jumped on.

This pack was also a bit too fast for me, but all i think is to hang on for as long as i can as every fast pack i am a part off, i am pulling away from those behind me! I was concentrating so hard not to get dropped on the climbs, then roll up to the pack on the downhills and when it felt safe to do so, I’d roll and recover!! So it was a bit of a surprise when we were on a green section, about 6 miles from the end and the pack just pulled away from me, even though i was at 3.0 and accelerating!??? but once the gap got to 50ft and draft was lost, i was into survival mode to stay in front of the chasing pack which looked like it had my category rivals in it and all working well together!!!

Thank god for ogee!!! He seemed to have been dropped at the same time as myself and we just worked really well together and kept that chasing pack a safe distance behind all the way too the line. If i had been solo, i would have definitely been eaten up so thank you!

And that’s it, great race, got 4 new pbs at the end and some great points. Been a while since I’ve been able to report such positivity!

Hi Neil – I got to watch most of the “main event” on my phone from doctor’s office (had to take my 86-yr old Mom for a minor procedure). Great job to stick with the groups you were riding with for as long as you did! Strangely, you got dropped at pretty much the exact place where I did in an earlier race today. More below. Kudos!

      • Neil Rushby says:

kinda forget people might be watching don’t you!! hope i held my stomach in enough lol. But yeah, it was a weird place to get dropped, i wonder if you jusy loose concentration enough and those riders in front of you are getting a good draft from those in front of them that, if you let the gap drop too far, you just can’t get back on even though you are in a bit of draft?? could be that but its pure concentration at that speed!!

    • ogee says:

Agree – it was a great race and a bit tough as well:) Ha, yes got dropped at the same place. I think I wasn’t paying attention for a short moment. When I looked up the whole pack was in front of me! I gave it all and was able to catch up with you, Neil. I quickly realized that catching the rest of the pack again was impossible. So, I was very happy working together with Neil for the rest of the race – this worked very well.
      Thanks
      Ole

      • Neil Rushby says:

Hi Ole, thanks for jumping in the comments as i am really glad you saw my thank you! We’d have been screwed riding solo to the end and even though that gap behind us was closing, we did enough to keep it big enough to keep our places.! It’s really good when you team up with someone who understands what we need to do to survive rather than try and drop each other. Kudos!

  2. Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

Disappointed that I had to ride one of the earlier events today because of other commitments, especially because the flatter races suit me so much better. However, I lucked out because I had Wolli.D in my race. I knew if I could hold his wheel to the end I’d get a nice result – as long as he didn’t get too annoyed with my wheel sucking! “Maybe I should try to pull some at the start so as to not piss him off,” I thought to myself. . .
Start went pretty much as I expected, but I was disappointed there was only one other rider with us. The 3rd guy seemed determined to get the extra draft by brining up the rear – which annoyed me and proved my undoing. I did try to take a couple of pulls in the first few miles, but Wolli.D was just too strong for me, so I settled in behind and did my best to keep up on the rollers. After a while I thought, “why should the 3rd guy get all that extra benefit of drafting from the rear!?” This is where I really wish we had direct communication, because it would have been awesome if the 2 of us could have rotated between the 2 and 3 positions and taken the Wolli train all the way in. Sadly, I’m still on my phone instead of ipad and it’s just too hard to try and signal in the app on that tiny screen. Instead, I decided to periodically ease up and let a gap form to force #3 to pull through. I’d then push hard to hold his wheel as he scrambled to close the gap. After a while, I’d pull through to the #2 spot and he’d latch on – but not ever pull through himself. He rode smart. I did not.
Finally, I played the game one time too many and – exhausted – lost his wheel as he closed to Wolli.D with still almost 7 miles to go. I was left . . . all . . . alone with nearest pursuer over a mile back. I pressed on solo, and noticed that about a minute later #3 had dropped out – did he have a “mechanical?” Don’t know. Wolli.D ended up finishing a bit more than 2 minutes ahead of me in 30th place overall – a REALLY impressive result for basically riding the whole race with no draft. Hats off Wolli.D and thank you for the pull – just wish I’d ridden a little smarter and enjoyed your draft to the finish! Looking forward to next week.

I understand you, many times I lived the same situation in race, and was very destructive especially for my mental concentration. In fact when I find that work well I give all for all without a personal tactic 🤷‍♂️🤣💪🦈

    • Neil Rushby says:

i understand the predicament you were in! Its weird isn’t it that you end up in a pack that’s kinda’ out of your league, yet that little voice tells you to take a pull or 2, even though you are probably the least powerful out of them all! Weird cyclist brains!!

  3. Mike Hagen says:

Missed going with the lead group, but the second group suited me fine. Nice big group, lots of Muckers. Fun group! I like to push the pace at the front, being wary of losing contact with a second’s mis-attention if riding at the back, and also wary of strong riders sitting in the draft. Perhaps I work a little harder than I should, but I like to imagine everyone is struggling to keep up. Probably not true. It came down to the finish sprint, 12 of us left in the group, and it worked out pretty much perfectly for me. Nice lead out from EddyDomino and simonjp, my best 30 second W of the past year, got into the lead, then Yumile appeared in the last few meters. Oh well, still very happy!

    • Neil Rushby says:

Thanks for the comments Mike, Was nice to ride with you guys as well and the other Muckers. I just never could gauge how many we had as my iphone screen only shows 2 riders in front and 1 behind on the nearby list! But it felt like we had a lot!

  4. Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

Fun ride. I stuck to my race strategy which was start strong and try to hold on to a fast pack for at least half the race. I was hoping I wouldn’t get dropped alone but, unfortunately I did. I was doing everything I could to stay with that 2nd pack but, all the rollers got to me (great job Neil staying with that group as long as you did). The 3rd pack was .73 mile behind me when I was dropped so I new I would get eaten up if I had to ride solo so I just took the chance to bring my heart rate down a bit. When they caught me I think there was a little over a 1/4 of the race left so I grabbed on. It was a big pack and riding a good pace for me but, there were some strong riders in the group so I tried to stay closer to the front for as long as I could. Managed to stay with the leaders of that pack when it splintered a bit in the end but, I didn’t have enough left in the tank to compete in the final sprint. All in all was very happy with my 44th place finish (41 after the dsq’s) .

    • Neil Rushby says:

As soon as i saw you were in the group, i knew i had to hold on….. as soon as i noticed you’d been dropped, well i will be honest, it made me want to hold on even more!! This is what the categories does to you! lol.

Great to see how you realized it was better to recover as well and let the chasers catch, rather than try a solo effort as even though it feels a bit wrong to wait, in the long run it works!

thanks for the comments and lets see how we do next week, although i think you’ll be long gone when we hit the climb!

      • Brian Westfall (4WorldPeace) says:

Yah Neil, you were my motivation to stay with that group as long as I did but, even if I gritted it out for a bit longer I couldn’t have stayed in it as long as you did. To be honest I was hoping you would’ve been ready to give in and drop with me so we could team up and try and hold off the next group but, with all of those strong riders in the back, it was probably to early anyway.

        • Duckman2 says:

I was happy to see you jump in with the pack, that was a fun group and it felt like we just needed a bit more distance to join up to the group ahead. Looks like I’m back in ye Olde A5 again so things seem to be improving at my end with all the other physical demands of late. looking forward to the next race.

  5. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

Well, nice route for my characteristic, race long with many power on the field and right draw mix. I try to stay in a nice group with many friends, worked always near the front and try to catch everyone in nearby list when appearing.
After 4 days of only walking training in Florence, the result was fine, not best for a technical issue but something good must always find.
Compliments to my friend Christian, you did a strong race, and I saw you and I ride to catch you for long time, and also when my group take yours, also here you did well.
Great work in front with my directly opponents for A5 Slyfly and MNHROUVY and also with Mike, Andy and MatthiasHell.
All right and I thinked to shoot a good final race but near 8 km to finish, my internet connection decided to tell me see you soon… and after 6 times when re start, my race is finished.
I lost 400/500 mt and over 1 minute from my group, I try always to push but for nothing.
At the end I was the 4th best A5 for this issue, and hold the second place in my Cat.
Thanks to everyone who ride with me and see you to the next great battle in the next Champ race.
    👋💪🦈

I wasn’t aiming for a good finish, having already missed the first Thursday race of the month due to winter break. But it’s Thursday and time to get motivated, so I started off pretty quickly and waited to see how things would unfold. I found myself in a fast group of several LinV and Stelviobound riders and started to worry I wouldn’t be able to maintain a pace of 3 W/kg for an extended period. And so it happened: a moment of inattention, and the peloton pulled away. Fortunately, fazzo34 also seemed distracted, and it was just the two of us. I wasn’t chasing the LinV group, fazzo and I rode at a good pace, waiting for the next group to catch up and gathering our strength to jump on their train. We managed to join my friend Fotochic’s group and ride with them to the finish. A strong pace. Thank you all 🙂

    • Neil Rushby says:

seems a lot of us have forgotten to pay very very close attention in these races! lol. We have been too use to the long epic Thursday routes that we are a bit rusty. But glad you are back and will be interesting to see if 3 races gets you into the top 50.?

  7. Klinthomie says:

I hit a big goal this morning: 90 kg! This means that I am officially 10 kg down from middle of October. Woop woop! I did hit a small plateau, but I must admit, reading about Sharky’s new weight goal motivated me – so thank you, Manuel!

Back to yesterday’s race: First flat (ish?) route in a looooooong while. I had to capitalize! Also I will not be able to attend next week because of a work trip to Poland, so I had to rack up some points.

I had lofty fantasy about sneaking into the front group and ultimately draft my way to a top 15 and surprise the heck out of everybody. Alas, seems like a lot of other people had plans to go for a top 15 🙂 I started out strong and got into the front group of 18 riders. So weird seeing names like Hans, Erland and BareRemi among you – feels like sneaked into a VIP party and you are just waiting for them to figure out you are not supposed to be there. After about 10 minutes, they found out! I got dropped … in a weirdly quiet manner. Not on a kicker, not because I was unfocused, just “slowly” going straight.

Next up is me sitting alone until I catch up to some other guys. I am in a group of 4 along with Yumile, Dimon2606 and SimonJP. We ride for 20 minutes or so. I don’t think we are doing rotations very well, and the group chasing us from behind is gaining on us. I see familiar names behind us like Sharky, MNHrouvy, SlyFly, RaTim and in the front pulling like crazy: Mike Hagen! Noooo, Mike – calm down!

I still think my best bet to get into top20 is to keep them at bay and pull, pull, pull. But at some point, they catch up and it is all about trying to hitch onto the ride once this crazy strong group overtake us. From here on, I now know that I have to stay in front and not get caught in the back and also make sure that I stand up at the top of the kickers and be very aware. I am SO focused – no time for thumbs up or nothing, I am at a limit here and have used all my matches with the 4-man group earlier.

Sprint is coming up and I mistime it hilariously bad. Start 100 meters too early. Something to improve on, I guess 🙂

But! Very satisfied with my result. And it was a fun race. Thanks to everybody for the ride.

Neil: If I travel wednesday morning but want to get a race in … there’s no tuesday night/wednesday morning championship time, no?

    • Neil Rushby says:

great comments and a great read Mucker. I am really sorry but Championship day is Thursday. We added the Wednesday one this year but we can’t add a Tuesday one as well, It’ll never stop as we try our best to include everyone!

Sounds like you need a bit of race practice though as pull pull pull didn’t work and the sprint was too early. My fault for adding a flat route after all the long epic ones!

      • Klinthomie says:

Feel free to add more flat routes for me 😉

I’ll gladly take all the missed sprints in exchange, hehe.

        • Eric H. (UncleE64) says:

Congrats on a nice race and making a new weight! I second the motion for at least 1 flat race per month 🙂

          • Neil Rushby says:

hey we can only see what challenge routes ROUVY throw our way, Got a fresh batch to go at today from some newly Launched challenges so lets see how they work out 🤞🤞🤞

  8. Hans says:

With Dan Rocky as a constant 5.0 W/kg PacePartner this must have been the race where I managed the most draft … EVER. There was always someone else to close every single gap in the front group and when we got down to the last 12 it was pretty obvious that everybody was just waiting for the final sprint. In the end I have to be satisfied with #7 out of 12 (#6 out of 11 after Dan Rocky apparently managed to get a DQ as a reward for all his hard work) in the slightly downhill final sprint while running completely out of gears with a max of only 52/11 in this very fast group. Thanx for the race guys 👍🏻
… and in the danish/norwegean discord group we actually did notice the strong ride of many of the other riders that normally don’t find themselves in the front group for so many kilometers. Great work guys. Nice to see how everyone is improving 💪🏻

    • Klinthomie says:

      Dansk/norsk discord? Hit me up!

    • Neil Rushby says:

thanks for the comments. It did pain me to dsq the 5.0w/kg rider, but rules are rules, and that one has been around for over a year now… just wish he’d have done 4.9 but 5.0 is a dsq apart from when we do the TT race as we have no rules apart from hr data for that one.

  9. Random thoughts: I love the races within the races (the categories) and even though I dropped in my category I find myself way up in the overall. Neil and Brian were just too strong today for me to stay with them so I dropped to 3rd in the category, but I picked up almost 20 places in the overall so I have to be pleased with my effort. I was a little disapointed that I got dropped at the end, but when I look back at the results the group I was in was mostly riders that I never keep up with so I will take it as good news that I hung on for as long as I did. 26.2 mph that converts to over 42 kmh, that sounds crazy to me. I guess my new goal needs to be 27 mph.

    • Neil Rushby says:

You’ve gotta try the rapid start Mucker!! only way to race these flat race. Rapid till you get over 25mph then suck the wheel of whoever is near you whilst you try and recover. then as you get dropped, you recover and the do all you can to jump onto the next train that passes you … and so on and so on.. you can’t fight from the back on these routes, unless you have a few late 4.0/4.5 w/kg riders that you see coming and try to catch that train instead. But that is very tough to do! But i had to make this one work, especially when i saw my group had dropped Brian as well as i wasn’t in the best place in the GC after race 1, but you guys are more than capable of smashing my head in on the next 2 races so the challenge is on! Race within a race mucker…. BIG TIME!

  10. Karel Soušek says:

Flat race in Nordics. Few attacks, mostly in the first half, then everyone rather followed pacemaker Dan Rocky going 5wkg constantly, so no one wasted effort more. Sprint finish which i managed poorly both by timing and max power, no wonder i almost missed top10. Fun race overall, thank you all who joined us!

    • Neil Rushby says:

i honestly feel for Dan Rocky as it seems he just pulled you all along, but why would he do that? have you all employed him or something?? Glad you’re all still having fun up at the sharp end!

  11. Klinthomie says:

If anybody near Zakopane (Poland) has a hometrainer set up for a guy around 184 cm on thursday night … or anytime that day – lemme know!

Best regards from a desperate dude trying to stay in the WC 🙂
