Tuesday Night Race Night. Always sounds good and something to get our teeth into as well for the first race of the week. The Belgium 40km race in Geraadsbergen. Yep, the route with the sharp steep climb at the end, after doing over 23 miles to get there. A really good route in front of the 32 riders on the start line and off we go at 7pm (UK)

Top 3 really went for this tonight! Just 6 seconds separated these guys, with “Simon_Hahnenbruch” getting the gold, just in front of new rider, or at least new to my podiums, “luke_vin” then “adampel” beating his team mate to 3rd.

hinsbergen” actually came over the line over a minute behind his team mate in this race to claim 4th, just in front of Swiss rider “Pfeffer“! 6th over the line came “PatrykS_Gdynia_PL” then “karel_sousek” claimed 7th with a time just outside of the hour mark.

8th, and the only Spanish rider tonight came “jakimati” who finished just up the road from Top Muckers Worldwide Rider “denny44” who claims a very strong 9th.

Last mention goes to the British rider “robbiedoo” who broke up a quartet of muckers riders in the process. Well done robbiedoo!

Thank you to everyone for jumping on this tonight. It really wouldn’t be the same without you all.

Cheers.

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

21st for me tonight. got dropped by the main group i was riding with and decided to see if i could get along better with Xaris which we did really well together and caught up to TimBelgium and ride for a while together, until i got dropped again! Xaris dropped out and so did a few others to promote me up to 21st at the end, neither challenging the rider in front of me, or being challenged from the rider behind. great route but I didn’t really have my racing boots on tonight!

Sorry I couldnt race tonight I had technical issues.
Anyway I’ve riden this route a few times. That climb at the end is horrible it reminds me of a localish climb near us called “Stoney Lane” (link here) which I did last year.

Going off track, my technical issues are all fixed now and will be on Thursday night race and finish mid 20s I think. Well done everyone who completed this.

hi, first time reading here + commenting 🙂 Many thanks for organizing those ‘come-together’ events! and having a qood men-sized group in the mean-time! Hope many more might join in the future. You make the difference that obviously Rouvy can’t support those days: Creating a kind of community and establish a regular come-together. Personally don’t see this as a real race or championship as we are all different riders (age, ambitions, …. etc. … up to the power been pressed on the pedals). But it’s always great fun. Usually I hope on the bike just spontaniously shortly before your rides start and mostly I say to myself “today, I will just role very easily” but a moment later I am always infected by the race virus. Please continue with the Organisation of those rides 🙂 , well done. And having more and more people joining your rides is the best proof of doing ‘the right thing’ 🙂 !

Thank you Simon! I think this might actually be the first time the winner has took the time to comment so i really appreciate that and also your thoughts. I’ll keep pushing the races out there as you are right that the more we have on them, the better it will be for everyone! Thanks again!

Also want to say hi to everyone there! After month riding only outdoors, I just want to spinn the legs, but saw this race… Perfect for my rider type, enought people to be it a fun, with iconic finish… How could I resist?
Then it was as expected, full gaz on all short hills, we stay 9, 6, 4, then just 3. I know Simon is out of my reach, so I tried to break the group again and get some advantage over Adam, as he has a teammate behind and no reason to pull. I gave it all, but without result, almost paid for that effort later. In the finale I was lucky enought to survive the initial kick and then just get a few meters on Adam over horizon to settle for 2nd. Simon was still in my sight but frankly not in my reach.
Many thanks for nice racing, and also thanks for organizing this race serie…

wow! 2nd place has commented as well! Thank you so much Luke! Adam and his team mate Chris usually ride together to get into the top 3 so well done for getting in front of those 2. They are both regulars now and are super strong riders! Interesting comments on the race and really great effort to get 2nd place. hopefully see you on another soon. Cheers.

Excellent ride in terms of length, climbing meters and fellow riders.
I gave it all I had on the final climb (well, throughout the whole ride actually), perfect training when it is still cold and wet outside.
    Many thanks for organizing!

Just missed the mention in the race report 🙁 I most honosly say it is not because of me. My average power output sais I had a good day. Seeing the names in front, most riders I have never beaten, and few only on super good days. So I can say, I ended on my place and just falling out of top 10 is only because there where so many strong riders. This is a good thing for the muckers races.

The last climb I know very well. In real life, the max gradient is 20% on cobbles, not 13% as rouvy displays. This is a shame. I wrote Rouvy about it, with helpfull references to wiki, even made a drawing. They said they would fix it, guess there was not enough time before the challenge started. I hope they still will.

    • Jakimati says:

I think you have had a very good race, but perhaps you have started very strong and you have wasted watts, I have been with you for a while and the level is even, I have been able to enter the top 10 but you could perfectly have been in my place.
See you soon in another race.

      • Neil Rushby says:

hi, thank you for commenting! Andy is still recovering from a bad case of Covid so he will be back soon to challenging that top 10 I have no doubt. Well done on the strong ride!

  7. S.Ludford says:

I agree with all of your comments Simon. A MuckersWorldwide race is a bunch of friends coming together to race (or ride), anyone can enter and is a friend whoever they are or where they come from. The number of riders creates a wide range of abilities so everyone can find another rider to race with.

Very nice route, which I rode on Saturday unknowingly it was tonight’s race. As always good group of riders and enjoyed riding in a few different groups till we split up. Thanks again Neil
