9am? 10am??? 8am?????? Last nights confusion for me! Last time the clocks changed I was actually late for a race, so on that logic, I was 99.9% convinced this time that if the clocks are going the other way, I will be an hour early….. won’t I? It was originally scheduled for 9am so if it changes to 10am, So be it, as I hadn’t actually given this a time in the title ( thankfully)!
So at 10am, we had 11 no shows. I really hope this wasn’t due to the time thing, but 29 riders were here ready for this challenging route! Guys, if you finished this route, please Know you are now officially a Mucker in my book. what a challenge this was!
Started with a decent climb, flat bit, lovely downhill ๐, a horrible climb, a little rest, another horrible climb, then a little dip at the end. Oh, and over 4000 ft of climbing. I think that sums it up superbly…..
“RogerDevittori” smashed this one and was the only rider to be in the 16mph average speed bracket! I don’t think I did that on the downhills!! Superb first place. “Dok_PS” claimed the silver just over four and a half minutes later, but more importantly. 37 seconds in front of 3rd place “Alfred.Liu“. Really strong rides from these two, as was the ride for 4th from the British rider “robbiedoo” who wasn’t far behind at all. I’d love to know if this was the order they started the climbs in, or did it changes about a lot?? please comment if you know?
5th place goes to Birthday boy and first Muckers Worldwide rider “Lyndon65” with a time just under 1 hour 40! Thank you so much for the effort and joining us on your birthday, i’d have gotten you a cake if we’d have stopped at the cake shop! 6th was potato soup fueled ( I’ll stop saying it once you do ๐) “uffzynda” who just got the better of the 2nd Muckers Worldwide rider and co founder, “Kylofski” in 7th who was now also the 3rd British rider over the line! Well done Mucker!
8th came “noccon” making it three Germans as well in the top 10! 3-3 might go to penalties this!!! 9th came the second Swiss rider in the top 10 “AEnder” who just got the better of the final top 10 mention, “Henri_81” who came over the line in a still very impressive 1:42:59.10 and averaged 13.78MPH up this climb!
13 More riders committed to finishing this so well done to you all as 6 gave up but you didn’t!
Thank you everyone for jumping on the race, and especially all those that made it to the end! Well done
Cheers

first climb was ok but I was a little in the red, even though I was getting some help from S.Ludford, so i had to re think my pacing as this was more an endurance event for me and not a sprint! Set of up the 2nd climd just one place in front of last place, who was bikerzraje and he was catching me up! but I just kept my cool and kept my rhythm and he eventually bonked and the gap started to increase again. I’d also seen I was catching up to fabians up that climb, so at the start of the last climb, I was a quarter of a mile behind and I set about keeping a nice cadence and consistent power up this to see if I could catch him! caught and passed koks0723 who had flown past me earlier in the race, and I caught fabians up just before the little steeper kicker right at the top of the last climb so I had to really dig deep to keep the power on past him and hope he didn’t see my171 bpm heart rate and that I was right on the limit. if he’d have come after me, I’d have had nothing to fight him off with, but luckily he didn’t so I was able to keep at my power and finally came over the line a quarter of a mile in front of him! 20th place had never felt so good!!!
I pulled my Gluteus Maximus in Sydney on Thursday so rested until today, but still wondered if this 4200ft climb was just going to be a pain in the arse. I was definitely not going to race, unless I saw a bike ahead of me … of course. Started steady and found myself looking down the road at a Gluteus Maximus bedecked in a British Flag – ‘Mucker1974’ had indicated his planned power output pre-race which seemed a good level for me so I kept him in view until finally bridging the gap at the top of the 1st climb. A few turns on the front each and we joined up with ‘Andy_UP’ who waited then joined us steaming down the hill chasing our Avatars. Then we hit the long 2nd climb, ‘Mucker1974’ gave me the nod, the muscles felt fine so I decided to press on and spin the climb at 90rpm. As a big guy it is nice to ‘pick off’ riders on a climb, including an interesting few minutes trying to shake off ‘andreaspcc’ who was working really hard to hold on to position and it required a big surge to dislodge. Finished strong and happy with no further muscle damage, will miss Tuesday/Thursday so the extra rest may compensate for the missed races. Well done everyone and thank you for the race.
cheers for the comment Steve.. definitely have a rest as a we have a double header next Sunday with over 50 miles all in!!
Hi folks,
after 7 Rouvy events and 3 races since Thursday last week, this “final destination” ended up with event #8 and race #4 for me, respectively. I was semi-completely done from the start ๐, but gave my best for a long time at P4, but again solo after “Doc” and “robbie” passed me and whom I still managed to follow for a certain (too short) period of time. Then, behind me, the rocketeers “Alfred” and “Steve Lyndon”, came up and passed me in the last third of the race looking totally relaxed to me if I consider your speed. How is that possible??? What a performance after these deranging ascents!!!
I was now completely finished with life ๐ and recognized “kylowsky” coming closer trying to rob my so hard but well-deserved 6th place. No way!!!! I threw in my last potatoes I still had and pulled like crazy untill I noted that he had given up. Thank you! I was toasted by now.
Great race which I enjoyed in a lovely landscape, and which I have been to several times with my KTM supermoto. I will definetly try this again…with my KTM… but never again with my bike as this was so painful. ๐
CU next race
Chris
well Done Chris, superb effort. its been a few hard races recently. rest up for Tuesday now!
Yes Neil, you are right. 167 bpm average and 177 maximum shows that clearly! That was too much since Thu (this week!, a mistake above but cannot edit it).
Mo.-Wed I am usually not online, only again on Thu.
All well done – this was a painful climb of 1300 meters, not to forget, in under 2 hours !!! I will take a nap now, good night ๐
hi, this is why you don’t have to do them all, just do the ones that are right for you. Also why i do some at zone 4 training rather than races. take care and always listen to your body!
How right you are ! During preparation for a race I am always planning to calm down and relax on the track and I am always quite confident to work on my endurance mainly. But as soon as I see the clock counting down and all the other crazy racers pulling like hell, then my brain switches off and converts into dual mode: all or nothing. ๐๐๐
Same procedure as every year, James ๐ (from โDinner for oneโ)
CU Chris “uffzynda”
Thanks for organising the ride. On your question. The situation in the front was very stable after the first climb. I rode with RogerDevittori in the front. Suddenly, in the middle of the race just before the second climb, I got a video phone call from and this interrupted my Rouvy connection and the raceโฆ I lost around one hundred meters to Roger and it was not possible for me to close the gap afterwards. I was not fresh enough for this energy increaseโฆ but he seemed to be stronger anywayโฆ So my main aim was to secure the second place and to ride max in the lower Z4 in the last climb. Have a great Sunday.
Thanks for the comment! appreciate that
Put the power on for the first climb and noticed a familiar name Hannibal vom Taunus from a race I did yesterday where we paired up to help with drafting, but not much drafting in this one as it was mainly up hill so we encouraged each other swapping positions now and again but staying together for most of the ride until near the end when my partner in crime started to run out of steam unfortunately so I carried on keeping an eye on who was behind me , making sure no one got to close and attack. Noticed Hannibal vom Taunus finding some extra power and only finishing 1 minute behind me.
Well done to everyone who completed this beast.๐๐
You guys were working really well together, not easy on a long climb. I saw Andy_UP catching you up so you were correct to secure your position.
That’s twice we’ve worked well together Saturday ( Mamiky’s race) and Sundays climb. Hopefully we will see more of him in the future. I too saw Andy up getting a bit to close for comfort, I remembered he can have a really strong finish so I thought try and keep a certain distance in front luckily for me there was a decent near the end
Strong ride Roger! wonder if Hannibal will do another muckers race/event in the future??
Thanks Neil. Maybe send him an invite to the other races you’ve scheduled. Alex might not be able to join all of them , but we might see him on a few.
Rouvy name Hannibal vom Taunus
Strava name Alex vom Taunus.
This morning at the ungodly hour of 2.00am, I was feeling as wobbly as a newborn giraffe after slamming back 4 or 5 cold ones. But, as fate would have it, my trusty pooch woke me up early and I thought, “why not give this race a whirl?”
I kicked things off with a decent 3.1 watts per kilogram on the first climb, feeling like a total boss. Mucker1974 and Andy_UP were both zoning out at level 4, so I knew they weren’t gonna pose a threat. Then, I caught up to ‘mgk1971’ and thought to myself, “heck yeah, I got this!”
But then, as luck would have it, the glitching started and I found myself trailing behind ‘sturlaf’ and ‘kamillo’ by a whopping 300 yards. Talk about a major bummer, man.
As we embarked on the second climb with a whopping 3000 feet to go, I was feeling pretty good. I caught up to ‘sturlaf’ and ‘kamillo’ who were trucking along at a steady 3.1 w/kg. Then, my sights were set on ‘Henri_81’ and ‘Sergio1964’ who had started off strong but were now feeling the burn.
But, just when I thought I had it all under control, ‘nocccon’ creeped up behind me and passed me by like a snail on Valium. With only 2 miles left to go, I summoned all the strength I could muster and managed to pass ‘nocccon’, snatching up the coveted 7th position and securing a spot in the top ten.
My sole motivation during that grueling second climb was the thought of getting a mention in the top ten. And for that, I’d like to give a big shout-out to Neil. Thanks for pushing me to my limits, buddy!
superb result Mucker. Well done and nicely rode!
A birthday in hell ๐ what am I doing should be a chilled day and I’m going to be busting a gut. We are off and as usual I’m one of the last to set off but soon got in a good group, uffzyn,AEnder,Henri Andy up and kylofsk and the climbing begins. I set my self a pace I could live with and slowly started to move away we dropped down the other side and AEnder went away quite quickly I kept my pace and closed in on him and passed him. Now it was a big push to get to the top without blowing up, kylofsk was creeping up but with a last push I crossed the line 5th place and very pleased with that, not bad for a old man ๐. Thanks guys for a top race
Really strong result Lyndon. thank you for commenting and hope you had a good birthday.
