MUCKERS AUGUST CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 2. 08/08/24
ROUVY ROUTE USED: Crenay to Colombey-les-Deux-Églises | France | 23.12 miles | 1673ft climbing
Introduction:
First race back for me and this was a great race route. Nice climbs with none in the red or dark orange, and some nice downhills to recover. Also we had nearly 100 registered for the main race with over 50 on the start line so maybe things are already starting to get busier.
With that in mind, we will be revising the extra versions from September. To make things more streamlined for me so I don’t have to do this blog in 2 stages (most of it now then the rest tomorrow when the 2LATE4ME version results are in) So we are going to run the 2LATE4ME version the day before so I will have the results all-ready in for when i start to do this blog. Usually by the time I’ve done as much as I can, the LATER-ON results are in so i will leave that as it is. Also adding a new time slot as requested
So from September it’ll run like this:
1st race 2LATE4ME, Monday and Wednesday 23:30 GMT
2nd race 2EARLY4ME, Tuesdays and Thursdays 04:30 GMT
3rd race RISE&RIDE, Tuesdays and Thursdays 09:30 GMT
4th race EARLY-ON, Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30 GMT
5th race MAIN EVENT, Tuesdays and Thursdays 19:05 GMT
6th race LATER-ON, just for Thursdays championship day 21:30 GMT
So a name change for 9:30 slot and the new 04:30 slot now has a name that actually rings true for me! 😁
The reason we have such a big gap from the EARLY-ON to the the MAIN EVENT is that we just don’t want to dilute this race. The idea of the extra races was just for a chance for those in very different time zones to us, to be included. The only reason for the LATER-ON is for those who just can’t get to the MAIN EVENT in time and at least have the opportunity later on to get a time in.
Also when I create these races, I only send invites once and that’s to everyone for the MAIN-EVENT. I create all the other time slots first, so when you get the invite for the 19:05 race, use it as a reminder that you know the other time slots are there for you to go and find/register. If I added all friends to all the races, you’d get an invite to every version and you’d soon get sick of loads of invites off me.
Hope this all makes sense. But ask any questions you like in the comments below.
Ok, lets see how the races finished and lets get the scores on the doors….

1st race back and was fun! used the old go flat out at the start till the hr reached 170bpms then try and settle into the group i am with. it was the guys running just outside the top 20 so i had deffo over shot!! got dropped on the first climb as i wanted to try and pace the climbs at 3.0 so i didnt bonk at the end and as i crested the top, id jump on whoever was nearest and draft down the hill together. this seemed to work until i got near the end and i was just struggling to stay at 2.5 but Bing-C just helped me so much to keep going. Thank you so much whoever you are…..
I almost backed right off when i saw my nearest rival was well behind me but then remembered there was a chance some of the other races might have set a similar time to me and as i missed the first race, i needed to keep the pressure on to the end. It gained me 1 place, but that 1 place might be what i need to get top 50 this month as i am not there after this first race!
The week is flying and here comes another episode of Muckers championships. This time mostly flat course with few tricky sections. I could feel heavy legs since start, so just observed who will be the most active. No surprise, Premek, Stefan and lrollin. We escaped soon and since then it was tactical battle among us. Well not really as on flat no one was interested to burn precious energy.
I tried break us over main “climb” in the middle of the race, but few meters was all i could get. As the end come, few more attacks happened. Sprint finish just confirmed i cant compete with these guys yet, so lets be realistic and enjoy potato medal! Very good racing, thank you everyone who joined us!
After 9 days I’m finally better and I can get back into our races… very hot and little training, this route will certainly be tiring, but I can’t miss any more championship races.
I try to manage the race and up to the halfway point it goes very well, I was in a small group with Neil, after which I managed to catch up with Jack and Mick but I knew I had to concentrate. In fact, on a descent I change the bottle and take a gel and boom bye bye group 🤣. This time I remember my friend Silvia’s advice, I wait for the next group and boom they pass away like rockets and I remain there like a boiled fish 🤣. In the end I fall back into a third group where I work behind David1951 and NuckHyorkshire, thanks for your work, I lost a position at the end, I was already very tired and happy to be back in the race, now let’s resume the chase in the ranking of the month. Greetings everyone 💪
Hey Riders…..
Great racing as usual, so many fun battles and I love watching everyone. The championship series is heating up and will only get more exciting as we all come back from riding outside……I don’t even know what that is anymore. I will be covering the next race tomorrow(Aug 15). Let’s light it up and smash each other to oblivion.
