MUCKERS Euro Tour Race Night. 20/06/23

Rouvy Route used: LOTTO Challenge Gdansk | 19.64 miles | 574ft climbing

Route 1 from the Challenge Euro Tour | HARD challenge

34 Registered | 20 finishers | 4 DNF | 10 DNS

Its been a while since we had this type of route for a race night. Nice distance and not too hilly, with the hills/climbs being spread out all the way along the route rather than one long climb in the middle or wherever! the draft would keep your average speed up and hopefully see you finish in a good time.

24 riders set off at 7pm (UK) and 43.39 seconds later “JoseCostaRonda” flew over the line to take 1st place. To be just over three and a half minutes faster than the very fast “hinsbergen” who claimed 2nd place, is an amazing achievement! If I was a cynical man I’d say almost too amazing, but, Rouvy say the guys figures are legit, so they must be! Under 1 second later came “nielsbrynnum” who himself just beat “patslack” by the same 1 second margin.

5th came a now very regular and strong performer “Ghostkiller” with French rider “Fabaman80” coming home 2 miniutes later for avery repsecable 6th place.

7th and 8th came 2 Muckers Worldwide riders with “Andy_UP” claiming top Mucker, with “kin_kwan” very close behind, and, just beating “lrollin” who was just a second behid in 9th.

And finally, the last mention goes to Australian Rider “SeanMuzzy” who wasnt too far behind 9th place with a very impressive 23.29mph average speed!

hope everyone had a good time and please pop a comment on so we can see how the race went for yourself!

Cheers

Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

went for it at the start just to see what would happen! Ended up in about 4th place and tried to hang on. got dropped, but everyone who came past i got the chance to draft for a little while before being dropped again. Got caught by a group of riders that were battling from 7th to 12th and hung onto those for awhile until 20 minutes in and i had to back off. ended up solo effort for a long time, not catching the guys in front, but gradually getting caught from behind! Kept the effort up and eventually got caught by thr glitching Denny and the slowing down Rens. rode with those 2 to the line to claim a decent 13th overall. Might keep trying the sprint start technique for the rest of the aces just to see what happens as i don’t mind those faster riders coming past and then trying to latch on! rather than set off slowly and spend all the effort trying to catch!

It was another great race! Hopped on the bike at the last minute and got everything setup 10 seconds before the starting line. Started hard with Neil to try to hang on with the front group, but got dropped as the pace was too fast. Riding solo for a bit until meeting up with Neil, Rens, Andy, and a few other guys. BUT BUT I missed the memo from Whatapp that we are riding at 3.x. Went too hard during one of the hills causing Neil to drop off from the group. I am sorry Neil. ;-(
Take turns to ride at the front until Fabaman80 attacked which I couldn’t follow. Rode to the finish line with Andy and lrollin. Andy was strong as usual… but I was able to ride ahead lrollin.
    Thanks again for the race.

I wasn’t going to race this one, just settle in a nice group, draft some and stroll to the finish. That didn’t happen. Got in a nice big group yes, but the pace was high as there were a few that wanted to race and make it hard on everybody. Some powered up the little climbs (looking at you kin kwan, also Fabaman), others came out the back. Near the end Fabaman was increasing his attacks and got away alone. I won the sprint for 7th, but by then, only kin kwan and Irollin were still part of the ‘large group’. Was fun.

Great race, – finally I reached the podium. However strong riders like Tuden, Karel_sousek, adampel were not participating, so I am pretty sure that their absence contributed to my podium finish.
Right from the start JoseCostaRonda and hinsbergen took off. Behind the 2 guys in front, I got in a group with patslack, Ghostkiller and denny44. We worked OK together….OK as some took more draft than others but that is bike racing. However, denny44 seemed to have technical problems and disappeared from the group. I noticed that JoseCostaRonda had dropped hinsbergen and our group caught up to him close to sprint finish. I was in doubt of the strength of Ghostkiller in the sprint as he had seemed strong during the race, but the battle turned out to be against patslack, hinsbergen and me for second place. I started the sprint with 350 m to go, giving everything,- however hinbergen was too strong and passed me.
    Thanks for another good race.

Tried to push hard at the beginning. Was in an excellent group with Niels, Ghostkiller and patslack. We were fighting for 3rd position. All riders in the group are much better than me and it was tough for me to stay in the group. Couldn’t do so much work and didn’t take any pulls. Then the technical problems started and I lost the group. Managed to get back but that cost a lot of energy. A few km later same again and I got dropped. Than rouvy shut down and I had to restart it. When I got back into race I was 14th. Was really gutted by loosing my great position. However I did want to quit and started a solo ride for the last 15km. Reached Neil and Rens a few km before the finish. That’s racing.
