32 on the Start line for this race and at 7PM (UK) we all set off on what looked like a relatively easy route. Well at least the start didn’t go straight in to a climb like most have recently so we were all able to settle into a nice rhythm before that first climb came up. This climb is where we all got broken off into our little packs and then the race kicked on!
“Simon_Hahnenbruch” made a welcome return to a Muckers race, and came home in 1st place, just under 13 seconds in front of the very strong “Tuden”. New name, i think, came “Kowarzanin” in an eqally strong 3rd place and just in front of “karel_sousek_drafting” who claimed 4th with an average speed just over 25MPH and under 50 seconds behind first place.
A bit of a gap next, then Top Muckers Worldwide rider “MikeHagen” popped over the line to take 5th, with “Pol_Florens” just 24 seconds behind in 6th.
6 riders next who were all in the 52 minutes bracket fighting for the 4 places left in the top 10!
fist of these guys to come over the line to claim 7th was “rouvy1bron” , 8th and the 2nd Muckers Worldwide Rider in the top 10 “Andy_UP” , “madden1” in a superb 9th and then the final mention goes to “stefan_Smit” with theGerman rider claiming 10th spot just 1 second behind 9th.
Well done everyone who got into the top 10 and beating 22 other rider! 22!

This was also the 2nd round in my mini L’Etape challenge championship with the top 20 standings below with just one more race to go. This could be very interesting for the win as Tuden is very consistent but Karel can be undebatable on his day. Hope they both turn up for the last race on the 30th. link to the next race below:

15th and what a tough race! set off quite nicely, then put in too much effort up the first climb abd ended up with a lovely stitch so had to try and recover and go again! had a few battles along the way and some help as well but i just didnt have that extra kick in me tonight so just kept it as strong as i felt i could. But happy with my place.
I should of started a little harder in this race as a large group of about five Mucker teammates were 200ft ahead and working together. I was with two non-Muckers, one couldn’t or wouldn’t pull at all and I was a little reluctant to help pull non-teammates up to our team. I kept an eye on the gaps and when the draft was at its weakest I pushed really hard and managed to solo across, but I’d gone deep into the ‘red’ and never really recovered from it as the next sections seemed to be all gradually uphill. Ultimately our bunch ended up all over the final positions so there were a few occasions where we had to decide if we were hindering the guys feeling strong or whether we should wait for guys dropping backwards. I think everyone made the correct choices in the circumstances. I teamed up longest with ‘Chak’ who was looking strong, I had just decided to let ‘Chak’ push on when my banking App notified me that my wife was in the supermarket with insufficient funds, now I was riding along transferring money between accounts … Geraint Thomas doesn’t have these issues to contend with. My final contribution was to try and assist Neil in anyway I could, which basically consisted of shorter and shorter pulls then sitting on the wheel of ‘marcelmitmrad’ up the penultimate climb to make him think I was feeling good when really I was about to ‘crack’. ‘kin_kwan’ then kindly offered his wheel and helped me limp towards and onto the final climb. Another good workout.
thanks for the help but that guy was just too strong for me on that last climb. I was surprised to see that when i set myself the 2.9/3.0 target up that penultimate climb, that we dropped you as that’s usually quite manageable for you but i decided to crack on and see how it ended but i was in 2 minds about what to do as i knew he was gonna be strong as he had closing me down pretty much the whole of the race! Thank you for commenting Mucker!
Nice to see the blue jerseys on the line and at the start. This was, I think, my 14th Muckers race; it’s great training, and my hill climbing is better now than a couple of month ago. Still not good enough to stick with the top tier of riders; those four dropped the rest of us on the first little climb 4 km in! I hoped to stick with them to the Svarov Hill at 10 km, but nope. Instead, I was with Pol_Florins, rmadden1, and Zeus02 at the bottom of Svarov, but Pol and I got away by the top. After that, Pol and I worked together to keep the chasers at bay, and watched the top four having what looked like a really fun race. I attacked on the Motol Hill with 4 km to go because I’m not a sprinter and wanted to get away before that came up. But Pol was not giving it to me, he didn’t give up, and it was a bloody hard last 4 km.
sounds like it was exactly as a race should be! HARD! But what a rush when you finish that strongly! Thanks for commenting Mike and for the continued support.
When I saw the start list for tonight’s race, I thought… shit it’s going to be hard just to get into the top 3. With strong riders like Simon H, Karel S and Kowarzanin with whom I’ve had so many good matches, I knew it would become difficult. It was then also the 4 of us who quickly came to the front. For the most part it was Simon H who pulled the load, as he is by far the strongest in the field. About halfway through the race, he simply sailed away. I think he only noticed when he was 200m ahead. Anyway, he stopped completely and waited for the rest of us. It also just proves how superior he is. 👍 With a few km left, we hit the last small climb, and I can see that Karel and Kowarzanin are losing ground, and then Simon H and I move. With about 1km to the line, I’m about 6-8 meters behind Simon H and trying desperately to overtake him. But every time I increase by 0.5w/kg he just increases by 0.7w/kg. He really played with me 😄 I knew from the start of the race that I had no chance to beat him, so my second place feels like a victory, and I am very satisfied with that, when you think about the strongly occupied field. Many thanks to Mucker’s worldwide for making these races, which are fantastic training, and thanks to all the riders who show up time after time, even though the outdoor cycling season is underway
excellent account of your race! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
From the start tried to stay with the front but they were to strong like what Mike hagen said got into a small group but couldn’t really hold that pace either so spent most of the race on my own thought about waiting for the group behind but I decided to push on trying to hold off the group nearly made it but rouvy 1bryon and Andy up came past me like a train on the last climb and was lucky to hold on for 9th great races hope to take part as often as I can
great to see you on the races Roy. I Think you are the only Irish rider i see on here as well!! Always a tricky decision isn’t it as to back off or keep pushing on solo! Its not like you need any advice from me, but, i like to back off and then see if i can work with that group rather than push on solo and get overtaken when i have nothing left. but its all good fun!
Had a plan not to follow the best riders, as I never hold on till the end and I end up getting past by multiple riders near the end, leaving me with a bad feeling. So I turned the tables and was going to be the chaser this time. Gave some power at the start and hung on the back of the group, with names like Tuden and Karel. I thought no no no, don’t do it, so I let a large group catch me with Chak and Mucker. The first serious climb came and I was pulling a little too strong for the group, hoping to find a partner in crime to chase down some guys in front. Chak really tried but droped his power to 2,5w/kg. Than came along Rouvy1Bryon, who showed some real power and potential, so I went with him, working strong together. By the start of the final 2 climbs we had rolled up 2 riders (Stefan and Zeus) and we saw Madden really trying to not get cought also. On the final climb, Bryon was clearly the strongest, he had a very good day. Usually I can put up a real battle with him but he flew up the final climb as he had wings. Madden didn’t have the time to blink or he missed Bryon passing him. By the end of the final climb I passed Madden and I was hoping he couldn’t sprint anymore, as I was on my max at that point. He coudn’t and I am very happy with my 8th place. Being the chaser is so much more fun!
well played Andy!
I started my first race after pausing for 5 weeks. My chain broke in two while warming up 5 minutes before the race started. I installed another older chain and started as red lantern – I tought I have experience with that 😉 Then, there was an error with my internet connection, my Rouvy app crashed 5 times and I had to restart the app. Thank goodness my position on the road was saved, but at the end the race didn’t count towards the Rouvy challenge. So I rode the route again the next day, 20 min faster than here. But even then, it would only have been enough for P23.
Maybe the reason for the internet problem was that I didn’t download the correct video file of the route? Although I had 5 Czech routes on my computer, this one was missing… but I only realized that after the race.
Of course I didn’t expect to get a mention after such a long break, but 12 minutes after the second to last was a bit frustrating.
Great to see you back. take your time and you’ll soon be getting that top 10 mention!!
