MUCKERS L’Etape Tour Race 3 of 3. 30/05/23
Rouvy Route Used: L’Etape Czech Republic 2023 – Virtual | Stage 3 | 17.9miles | 1187.66ft

This was the 2nd race I’d offered the Muckers Worldwide Avatar Cycling kit to the finishers and I think this was one of the reasons we had a nice entry to this race and some old faces jump on as well. 34 riders on the start line for what was a fast and hard race on an excellent route that had a little bit of everything on it for the whole of the nearly 18 miles.
“hinsbergen” claimed the gold and on this rare occassion, with no help from his absent teammate, making the victory even sweeter! The very strong Dane “Tuden” was just a second behind in the silver place and then a gap of over a minute to third place “karel_sousek” which shows just how strong first and second place were tonight as Karel is a very, very, strong rider in his own right!
4th came Karels team mate “Technik_11” who finished just in front of a now strong and regular rider “nielsbrynnum”, who himself just beat top Muckers Worldwide rider “MikeHagen” who came over the line in 6th. Wonder if this was a 3 way sprint at the end??
7th ( might ) be a new rider with us “Salva13” with a bit of a lonely looking race, followed by 2 of the most infrequent Muckers Worldwide racers, but sooo strong when they do race: “DonJulio” in 8th and “leon_ledoux” in 9th. Really good to see you both on the race and getting in the top 10 as well!
So, final mention goes to the rider who was just pipped to the line by 9th place but still finished ahead of the 5 strong Muckers chasing him down, “12_GUR5_HugoQB” with a time that saw him average just over 22mph for the whole route. A Very strong top 10 tonight!
As Tonight’s race was the last in one of my mini L’Etape championship (scroll past the race results to see the final standings) , everyone who finished this race tonight should have gotten the muckers worldwide team kit for there avatars as a special thank you for jumping on this race. Hope you got it.
Thank you all so much for jumping on. I really appreciate the support you all show by joining these races as its you guys that make it the ‘fun’ that it is and why we keep coming back! You are all welcome to add “Muckers Worldwide” as your team name now you have done one of my races and please get in touch if you want to join the WhatsApp group that around 20 of us regular races are now active on. Yes, those Avatars you’ve just been racing against are actual “Real” people, from all around the world, all doing the same thing as each other….. just some do it a bit better 😂😉 even if its just by 0.01 of a second.. This is also why we love the comments below as it just shows how we are all having our own little battles, even if that Avatar seems to look like they are taking it super easy when it passes you. 😫
cheers everyone.

Just a 3 part mini championship this time. But it did use all the routes from the L’Etape challenge. well done to Tuden and Karel, who both finished really high in all 3 races and to MikeHagen for getting the muckers onto the final podium place with a very strong showing in all 3 races as well. So, did you get into the top 20???

what a great race. 19th never felt so good! Tried to pace myself a little better tonight, so no massive spikes in power up the climbs, rather I went for high cadence with the thought it might work out better in the long run. Once things settled down, i was 17th-19th place and just found myself watching 20th place more than forward. I felt i wanted to at least be top 20 tonight. I Was racing really well with UncleE64 and it was going ok till he disappeared, gave up or glitched. you never really know do you, but then i was on my own, trying to keep a decent amount of pressure on Ryan in front, but more seriously focused on MrMcFly behind me who seemed to be a bit stronger on the climbs so every time we hit a climb, I just span at 100rpm and then tried to keep that power on over the crest and then try to go as fast as possible down the other side while also trying to recover for the next climb. This was how the last half of the race went for me, and it was great fun!
I had a really hard weekend ride and wasn’t sure how it would go today. But what the heck, give it a shot, and it actually went very well. Chris surged on the first hill and pulled Tuden and Karel with him. I could not keep up, so eased off to ride with Niels and Technik_II. I thought we rode really excellent together. At about 20 km, saw that Karel had gotten dropped. Also about then was keeping an eye on Salva13 who seemed to be trying to bridge up from the group he’d been with. Coming into the finish, I saw Chris jump into his sprint pushing a ridiculous 15 W/kg, Tudel doing the same a split second later, but too late. For me, I didn’t feel I had the legs to attack with a couple kms to go, and figured Niels and Technik_II would outsprint me, which they did. I’ve had a few really good battles with Niels now; looking forward to the next one!
well done again Mike and thanks for explaining how it went for yourself. Niels is a really strong rider and would be great to read how he sees the battles as well. regards, Neil
Settled in a group with DonJulio, Chak and Shrek. On a longer hill in the first half, Chak and Shrek had to let go. Me an DonJulio cought Hugo and the 3 of us did most of the route together. Silva came flying past us, guess that rider started too late or something as he clearly belonged in a strong top 6 group. On a hill 2/3 of the way DonJulio went to hard for us. Just me and Hugo batteling for 10the place now. Or so we thought. Denny, always very fast in the last part of the race, was closing the gap really fast. On the final hill I had to let Hugo go, gone was my 10th place. By the end of the hill, Denny was passing me and I could hold his wheel for a few 100 meters. So 12th, in what I think was a very strong field today.
superb result Andy. thanks for commenting
I had the impression that the route yesterday would suit me well and I was keen to be in the front group from the start to see how long I would last up there. However I barely saw Hinsbergen, my strong fellow Dane Tuden or Sousek before they where out of reach. At the point, Mike Hagen was 50+ meters ahead of me and Technik_II and I noticed how Mike eased off and waited for us. However, I could not see or draft behind Mike Hagen during yesterday’s ride (assume a technical issue). Wonder if Technik_II could see Mike Hagen? Anyway, the tree of us worked well together despite Mikes (ghost rider appearance 😊) and without anyone in the group showing weaknesses during the 20+ km we drove together. The last km towards the finish line was a preparation for the sprint. I was taking by surprise by Technik_II in the sprint and despite a pace of 62.3 km/h towards the finish line, I was not able to catch him. Congrats to the podium finishers and thanks to Mike Hagen and Technik_II for a great race.
well done again Niels. and thank you for commenting.
After the Bank Holiday MTB ride with Neil and still having this lingering cold with me, I thought I’d be sitting at the back. Anyway, enough of the excuses. I started off steady and found out I was riding with Denny44 from the start. We got stronger and faster as the ride went on until we were pushing 4.1w/kg up the hills. After 11 miles, Denny44 was too strong for me and pushed on alone. Thanks for the pull, Denny44.
Next, I saw that I was closing in on Shrek707 and Chak. I had a mini race with these two for the last 2 miles. At the very end, there were a few little bumps, and I knew that if I put in 110% effort, Chak might not be able to catch me. In the end, Chak was only a few seconds behind me, and a 13th place finish was quite good for me.
Great turnout for a midweek summer’s night ride. I can now wear my Muckers Worldwide kit on Rouvy with pride.
superb race Mucker. i thought about jumping on when you and Denny came sailing past but i had to carry out my own race otherwise, yes, i could have jumped on and maybe held for a few mins, but then I’d be dead and end up dropping further and further back and actually being worse off. Gotta love this racing and how we are getting more and more familiar with the riders as well! cheers
I was in a nice little group with DonJulio, Chak, and Andy_Up. I had no idea Kyle and Denny44 were behind…usually out in front 🍻We needed to set up something before, if all 6 of us had been together…wow. 11 MW in the top 20, we could get a serious little peloton going. I loved the routes through these challenges.
