MUCKERS OCTOBER CHAMPIONSHIP R2. 10/10/24

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

First, another reminder for those interested in world championship points, please make sure you have selected to have your ROUVY name displayed rather than your real name on NITEOR. This only matters if you have actually signed up with them, if you haven’t, then it sticks with your ROUVY name anyway.

2nd, The latest update on ROUVY has enabled race organizers the option to now check individual rider stats again!!!!! This is huge news as it allows me to now check your heart rate data is in line with your effort. This was always part of the rules in a muckers championship race before the big ROUVY app change A FEW MONTHS BACK stopped us from being able to check. This Heart rate data checking is what made us the trusted race series we are today and we are so glad it’s back! So those of you who haven’t been using heart rate sensors over the last few months, you need to get one sorted before the last few races, especially if the world championship is important to you. If its not, then don’t worry about it! . We aren’t going back to checking every weeks top 50 result like we use to, but we will check the Top 50 at the end of the month and if the riders last race doesn’t show HR data, they will not get world championship points. So you have 3 weeks to sort it. Again, this isn’t really a new rule, it’s been there from the start of the year and we use to check every top 50 place after every Thursday race and remove any rider with no heart rate data, and the top 50 placings below that rider got a bump in place. It was a great little bonus for the top 50 but very time consuming. So A check at the end of the month seems more than fair to us.

3rd, ROUVY still hasn’t fixed the leaderboards to show more than 100 finishers so, unfortunately, we can’t award any championship points to anyone who finished a race outside of that particular races top 100. Again, if you’re not bothered about the points then that’s fine. But if you are then my suggestion would be to try another race start time as none of the other races are anywhere near getting 100 finishers. Maybe the one that starts an hour later than the main one? Hopefully they will sort this soon but we don’t as of yet, have any idea when

Thank you.

EXTRA TIME SLOTS REPORT:

13 Finishers on last nights 2LATE4ME version! 13!! That’s really good as it might hopefully gets more regular riders to come along! Top 3 mentions come from a 4 way sprint off, but gold goes to “C.Benn” , silver to “CrackedCranks” and bronze to “SpicyMacCurry” ! All with very strong times indeed!

The 2EARLY4ME version had a solo rider only finish though. Imagine having to do this 30 miler alone! Massive respect to “jorhuerta” for doing this alone and i hope you see the special mention!

RISE&RIDE Gets us back to amazing levels of riders with 30 riders registered for this one and 20 actually finishing!! so now a 5 way sprint off for a very tough top 3 mentions!! Gold goes to “Djino”, Silver to “paolobendy” and Bronze to “A2-169-ORAZIO-ARRIGO” Well done to you all!

EARLY-ON next, and we have our first ROUVY glitch. we have 13 finishers in the list at the top, but we also have another rider at the bottom of the list that just says “finished” . Hopefully by the time this blog is finished, its all sorted. But for now, we don’t have a sprint off for the win, with riders coming over the line on there own: “Mattix–” getting the Gold, “R.Lyons” the Silver” and “GhostPink” getting the Bronze!!

LATER-ON Is still finishing up as i type so I’ll be back here soon….. okay, 5 riders finished this bonus start time that runs just an hour after the main race. Gold gets awarded to “oshri” , Silver to “danie78” and Bronze to “kazik68624767”

Thank you to all of you who showed up and raced these extra time slots. I hope you feel you are part of this whole thing!!

MAIN RACE RESULT:

181 Registered for the main Race… Do they know its 30 miles long and ROUVY only show the top 100 places?? I’m currently listening to to the repeat of Inside Cycling Worlds live stream as i write this blog, and it looks like around 128 riders got going, so unfortunately 28 of these guys aren’t gonna get any points if they finish. So sorry about this, but its a ROUVY error and nothing we can do about it right now.

So top 20 mentions go like this: 11 way sprint for the win and the Gold gets awarded to “breers33” tonight! well done and i hope you enjoyed this race! “BareRemi” gets the Silver and “JJRobinson” gets the Bronze. So the next 8 come flying over the line like this: 4th “Simon_Hahnenbruch” , 5th “Gil.Mad.io”, 6th “przemokrk”, 7th “lrollin”, 8th “karel_sousek”, 9th “Stefan_Schmidt”, 10th “nelsonsnyder” and 11th to top Muckers Worldwide team rider “Tuden” !

12th goes to “yvon86” , then another pack comes battling for 13th with 13 riders coming in for the next 8 places! so 5 just miss out on a mention! So well done to “RocketRoy” in 13th, “Stefan793” in 14th, 15th goes to “nielsbrynnum” , 16th “DonMatteo_07”, 17th “PeterOldGit” , 18th “Badeskum” , 19th “luis73” and final mention to “Grochang” claiming 20th place!

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

That was crazy! 120 starters, very strong field, very competitive. Had as good a start as I’ve had lately and was in a lead group of 50? 60? it was nuts. Then we hit the Hill, 1 km+ of 5 – 7%, and that sorted us out. I did my best 3 minute W of the year, and still not even in the top 30!? Settled into a group with macko, tomlerieger, kjohannessen, Jenscorli, oyvgra, KeithOldGit, and ludwigdb. We lost S.Ludford along the way, but caught Andy_UP. Big group of 20+ just ahead, but we were not catching them. Another big group of 20+ behind was a bit scary, but we were working just well enough together to slowly increase the gap. A few attacks, a few surges, but I think we all knew it would come down to the sprint. I don’t have the same kind of rocket power as some others, so I’m happy to finish in the middle of the group. Awesome! Kudos to all that finished.

Well, that was a different experience! The Jasper race definitely wasn’t my usual cup of tea. As a climber, I tend to gravitate towards courses with lots of elevation gain, but this one was mostly flat and fast with only 650ft of climbing over nearly 30 miles.
With over 120 riders on the start line, the atmosphere was electric. I knew it would be a tough race, especially with so many strong sprinters in the mix. My goal was to crack the top 100, which I knew would be a challenge on a course that didn’t suit my strengths.
The race started fast and furious, and I spent most of it battling for position in the pack. There were a few attacks, but nothing that really stuck. It was clear that the race was going to come down to a bunch sprint.
In the end, I managed to hang on for a 93rd place finish. Not my best result, but I’m still happy to have finished in the top 100. It’s always a good feeling to cross the finish line, no matter where you place.

  3. Steven Ludford says:

Admission time to my group on the road, I did nothing, absolutely zero, to help my group … but please understand, that was a maximum 1.02 IF score effort to be riding behind you. I was always looking at the 25 rider bubble behind us hoping the gap would be big enough when I dropped. I didn’t drop and we were suddenly approaching the finish line. Do I not contest the sprint and roll over quietly… what the heck, I’ve worked so hard to be here, let’s join in…Top50… chuffed to bits.

  4. Michael Michelius says:

Phew, what a route! My plan was to get a good draft at the first short downhill. Put all in on the climb and try to get a fast group for the rest of the race and just drafting afterwards with some bursts. I was not aware that “just drafting” can be so hard 🥵🤯 So I had to leave my group backwards and found a new small group. In that one I was able to hold the pace and we finished together. Finally a group of 5 bombed high Watts to the line. I ended up 3rd of 5 in our sprint group, but all within 0,5 seconds. Overall #58 which is also really nice for me. That was once again much fun!!

  5. Thomas Rieger says:

that was so crazy! first I thougt that will be easy; a flat an descending route with only 200Hm. But after the start I was in the middle of a huge wave of about 50 riders, going from 50th to even 1st in seconds. I gave all I had on the first climb and was deep in the red. needed all the 72kmh downhill to recover. We rode the rest in an strong group with Mike and Ludwig untill the sprint finish. Well done everybody who finished this race, that was a hard piece of work! pedal on, Tom

  6. Peter Oates says:

Well that was chaotic. The route didn’t suit me, I like undulations and I still haven’t got the hang of the drafting thing. Maintaining a steady pace in a group is difficult and I always seem to end up doing the hard work and then burning out. I struggled to keep up with groups that I know I should have been OK in. More practice needed…

  7. Manuel Lamber says:

Can you be happy with your level of training and then with performance always close to not above If 1.0 not be happy with the final ranking? Yes I am, doing the math, in all the Muckers windows yesterday there were 160 finalists, I came 64th in the main race and 75 in total. These races once brought me to the Top 30 and now it’s just a struggle. Yesterday my result was -7 min, but I repeat only 64. Let’s hope for new Rouvy changes in the future where perhaps there will finally be differences in the descents and in the draw in general. Greetings to all the friends who participated 👋🦈

  8. lrollin says:

Another championship race with heavy hitters. The only real challenge was the 6% incline 5km from the start. The climb was tackled in a sprint; it was crucial not to lose the lead group to avoid getting caught in a breakaway right from the beginning. After this first challenge, the pace in the lead group remained moderate. It was difficult to generate a lot of watts on a mostly downhill course. A few small attacks here and there, but nothing to cause a break in the lead group. On such a route, breaking away was extremely difficult (except for riders with an FTP 30% higher than the elite Muckers). Since the pace wasn’t very steady, the group behind was coming back fast, and I was somewhat worried it would end in a mass sprint with more than 30 riders. In the end, the pressure of the last few kilometers meant that we stayed 11 riders for the final sprint. I knew I didn’t have much chance of competing with the powerful heavy hitters. I finished 7th out of 11 in the sprint, and I couldn’t really do better against the top sprinters in the Muckers championship. An average speed of 52 km/h, even with the 72 km/h limit imposed by Rouvy; without this limit, the average could have surpassed 60 km/h. 🏍

  9. Karel Soušek says:

Big lineup, it is cool to see so many people joining us. One would say flat profile by looking to distance x elevation, but i knew very well how challenging it will be. Short flat after start and then short climb where everyone was sprinting. I was ready for that, yet max 1min effort needed to stay in front group of twenty and i was on the tail over horizon, pfff. Then group ride, but one had to be really vigilant as Gilmad or Nelson on disc wheels (wtf?) were attacking couple of times. Again i got almost dropped two times. We finally reached finish and with luck i did not end up last in our group, which i can consider as personal win. Exciting racing, thank you again all joining us!
