The first is a reminder that you need to be showing heart rate data if you want to get points at the end of the month for the world championship. This has always been a rule , the only reason we’ve not enforced it over the last 3 or 4 months is down to the ROUVY update back then which took away our way to check it. Its now back, but instead of applying it to every individual race’s top 50, we will just do it to the final top 50. No Heat rate in your last race, means you will not get your world championship points added to the world championship table. If this doesn’t bother you, then no worries, please keep racing and having a great time as your result is still fine for ROUVY, just the Muckers expect a little bit more……
The results page on ROUVY seems to now be working as it should so everyone will now be on NITEORS championship points table, well, you will if you finish and its at least in the top 150 places for that individual race (we only created a points structure down to 150th place and never thought we’d have to go any further)
And finally, remember if you are now signed up for NITEOR to set your name in the standings to your ROUVY name, especially if you taking part in the world championship. The world championship spread sheet started at the beginning of the year (when we weren’t getting the help from NITEOR) so if you got points then, and you have now signed up for NITEOR, and left your “DISPLAY MY NAME IN STANDINGS” option in the profile section as yes, you will basically have 2 names in the world championships table. I am not going to start cross referencing and trying to work out if “dave smith” is actually “Rouvy rider 2” or whatever so please set it to “NO”
This is the home of Muckers racing, this is where the rules and regs are and any updates are displayed, so you have been warned today and over the last few blogs so please don’t email/message at the beginning of next month asking what’s happened to your points……..
ROUVY ROUTE USED:
Ride to Emerald Lake | Yoho National Park | Canada | 5.19 mi | 404 ft
EXTRA TIME SLOTS REPORT:
Nice short sprint race for round 3, and we had a nice turn out for the 2LATE4ME race with 9 riders getting the first lot of times on the board. Gold went to “NizzyG” just winning the sprint off with “SconedCyclist” in 2nd , and just 5 seconds later, winning his only sprint off and making it an all American top 3 comes “Guthinger-Mike”. Wonder how these times will stack up later??
No one jumped on the 2EARLY4ME race so how did the RISE&RIDE version do? 5 riders finish it so we can do another top 3 mentions here! “Hans.Holm.Moeller” gets todays win on this race, “EddyDomino” gets the Silver and “simonjp” gets the Bronze.
The EARLY-ON version is next, with just 2 finishers so the only mention here is for the winner “Juan65”. The LATER-ON version also only had 2 finishers so the final mention from all these extra races is “ruiz88” .
All you guys have now acquired the right to purchase a special mention T-Shirt! please pop over to the shop and celebrate this rare achievement. It really does help us out when you buy an item or 2.
MAIN RACE REPORT:
Soooooo,….. can the usual suspects actually set some new records times at the top of the route leaderboard today? This was the question i was asking myself all day, as well as could they maybe even smash a time in under 10 mins??? The 10 min challenge didn’t happen, but the top 19 riders, all beat the previous route record!
“Alieno79” gets the win with an almost super human average power of 6.3watts!! He has a nice gap to “BareRemi” who tried to chase the winner down, then a nice sprint off for the last podium place is won by “przemokrk” just in front of “FlyingSkywalker”
The battle for 5th is a 5 way sprint won by “Stefan_Schmidt” then in 6th comes “luis73”, 7th “Gil.Mad.io” , 8th “JJRobinson” and 9th comes “NikolajBugge”
10th and somehow in a bit of no-mans land (how is that even possible on such a short ride!?) comes “karel_sousek” then 11th comes “TijsV” and 12th is “lrollin” with “nielsbrynnum” in 13th. All these riders all with big(ish) gaps in front and behind….
The race for 14th though is a 4 way sprint won by “nelsonsnyder” , followed by “Brampaulussen” in 15th, “millony” in 16th and “RocketRoy” in 17th
Last 3 mentions from the main race goes to “m-forby” in 18th, “tranberg” in 19th and final mention goes to “Michelleke” in 20th place!
That was a tough sprint race but we hope everyone enjoyed the challenge! Please pop over to the shop and get that special mention T-Shirt. especially if you haven’t already go tone from this year as the 2024 version will be replaced in the new year!
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
I’m really not sure if i am a fan of these short races or not. on one hand its a great test to see where you are at so you can try to go flat out, but on the other hand, its a flat out effort for nearly 15mins!! 5 mins, yes you can go all out, but 15, thats another matter. I did a little recon warm up on the route beforehand and stayed around 3.0 and it was tough. found 2 places i knew i could recover a little in the race though, but 15mins was a slow time compared to what everyone had been doing throughout the day and looking at it now, it would only be good enough for 83rd so even though i didn’t know that, i did know i needed to up my game for the race.
So set off fast, but not too fast and got into a nice draft before the first little downhill… recover!! then into the climb and set my target of over 3.5w/kg and hopefully as i get overtaken, i get some temporary draft for a few seconds just to help me get a better time. We are now on the flatter part already, and still in a nice group of 3 and we did work well together, but the 2 behind were closing in at over 4.0s so they just got us at the bottom of the last climb, where i set a target of 4.0 to the line, just piping Ste at the top.
Pretty much heart rate 7 all the way but a much better average watts than the warm up and a nice time of 13:46 that placed me 59th in the race and 65th out of all the times set. This gave me enough points to just sneak into the top 50 this month. But only just! somehow, I’ve gotta’ do the same next week as that’s another short race as well!!
This was a tough one! Did a gentle Z2 warm-up on the route + a couple of minutes of threshold, accompanied by Neil most of the duration. Alieno79 was also recc’ing but at a very different pace than us 😂
3-2-1-GO:
Medium paced start and was immideately in 2nd position but the train behind choochoo’ed past as soon as my power settled in, back at 40th IIRC. Had a power target for my 12min Critical Power level, but legs were not feeling light so just tried to pace it as good as possible… (I blame the start of leg days at the gym Monday prior!!) After the descent I managed to climb in positions plus loose some to lighter riders so now it was “only ” to endure untill the end. Was all taxed out with no remaining spring-power when battling for final positions. Overall earned a 32nd place, but only 9sec behind 20th so it was tiiiiight. Perhaps on a good day… 🤣
Average power for the 12min18sec ride was below my CP for that duration, pacing is critical. (IF 1.0 attained)
Thanks for the race guys and gals, untill next time!
I first realized in this race that using my Wahoo tickr and my Wahoo watch (for running) at the same time to monitor my heart rate resulted in no heard rate displaying on the ROUVY app. Sorry. Neil. My first race on Thursday since four weeks. Not my course, I thought. So I started slow but I felt very good on the climb and over time improved my position and closed the gap to a larger group of riders around the 20th to 30th position. I recovered for two km’s and attacked on the last 500 m. I couldn’t hold the 20th position just until 20m to the finish line. 21st was nevertheless quite good result for me on that course.
Very short all out effort race. These always scare me the most and on top of that i was feeling sick since yesterday, as i got some virus in evening meetup, pfff. With that i did not expect any good result. I do not remember anything from this race, just that at the end i had little gap to the front, thus finishing in top10 is best effort i could get tonight. Thank you all who joined us!
I’m not a fan of these short races either. How to handle this one? Decided that an all-out rocket start was not called for; there would be someone to draft the whole way, likely as not. Try to do even splits: 2nd 5-minute power the same as the first? What’s my year-best 10-minute power? 4.1 W/kg? Okay, try for that. Hooked up with macko; we were slinging past each other, working our way up the groups. I hope I helped him as much as he helped me. We were part of a big group of 17 into the last kms, which shredded as the finish pace upped. But it was Michelleke who got the sprint and Neil’s last, 20th place mention! Kudos to all.

It seemed a long time for a short race, I am glad I didn’t go full power from the start. Just about recovered enough in time for the follow on race.
