La Vuelta 2024 | Stage 11 – Padrón | 21.92 mi | 2,129 ft
EXTRA TIME SLOTS REPORTS:
No finishers for the first 2 versions seemed a bit strange, so it was left to the RISE&RIDE race to alleviate any worries i had that this was not gonna be as good a race route as i had thought a few months back when i scheduled this as the last race of the month! 8 riders finish with “Nuccio64” getting the gold, “extremi” getting a solid silver and “A.Krebs” the last mention and a great Bronze!
4 finishers in the EARLY-ON version now gives us a nice 12 finishers times into the NITEOR table with “VanniBirch” getting the gold, “Antoine79” getting the silver and final mention from this race goes to “Mars67”
As i am typing, the LATER-ON is running so lets leave this section here and start the main race report……
OK, all the below is typed up so I’ve popped back up here to now report on the LATER-ON race which had 5 finishers with “jenko7” getting the win, “A__J” getting 2nd and in 3rd place comes “Timojoli”. quite surprised with how well this start time is starting to get used, glad i put this one on now!
MAIN RACE REPORT:
137 Registered for this!! Will we finally have our first 100 riders at the start line race???? Looking at the leaderboard on ROUVY we had 83 finishers, scroll down with fingers crossed and we don’t have a list of DNFs?? I know from the live feed i watched while doing the race that we definitely had some DNFs but ROUVY still needs some work on these finish tables, especially if its in the “finished” section. But lets just reflect on the fact we had 83 finishers! On a route like this, that’s amazing so thank you so much to you all for turning up and making this what it is, be it racing for the win, racing for top 50, or racing to stop that guy behind catch you! You all make this what it is!
The Race was won by our old friend who we know isn’t fully fighting fairly with the rest of us, so our first Muckers mention goes to ……. “BareRemi” but if you watch Inside cycling worlds coverage on YouTube (see link below) it was a proper sprinters finish!! coming through in 2nd comes “breers33” and “ErlendSundstrom” getting 3rd place! 4th place goes to the rider who looked to have won this about 2 seconds before the line “luis73” , “przemokrk” gets 5th place, “karel_sousek” in 6th and the final rider in this group “Stefan_Schmidt” getting 7th!
If you watch the live stream, this next sprint is just POWER!!!! “hinsbergen” just gets the nod for 8th place, with “Simon_Hahnenbruch” making a welcome return to the muckers races with a solid 9th. Last mention goes to “TijsV” with a solid run to our 10th mention for this main race!
Just watching the video now as i type and there’s so many mini races and sprints happening! well done to you all and thank you for racing with us.
Please pop to the shop and help us out by making a purchase or two and wear with pride that you either got a mention or you are just proud to be a part of the team and race with us.
Thank you to those that raced, thanks to those that read this blog, especially those that read to the very end!

Well that sprint finish and win got “BareRemi” this months title!! well done, but you now have an extra 1.5% of ballast to add to your total, with “przemokrk” getting the silver (and 1% ballast) and another solid month for “Stefan_Schmidt” to increase his lead (plus his ballast amount by another 0.5%) at the top of the world championship (please see separate blog which will be updated over the weekend)
Well done to everyone who got into this top 50! 200 riders joined us for at least 1 of the 4 races so this was not an easy achievement at all!
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
Last minute toilet caused heart rate meter disconnection again, but i knew exactly where i sit over the race. Heavy legs after yesterday longer group ride with “race” moments and today rainy running warm up. Luckily we have flat section to warm up before main climb. Twenty the strongest riders entered painful section and selection started. We could stay packed in the front, but there were one or two moments when i wanted to give up as i started to loose over 10m.
I decided try one more push (now glad i do not see spiking heart rate) and i was back among friends. For now, but then pace stabilised a bit. Baremi in breakaway and we were caught by miraculous Luis climbing capabilities with his 56kg (i wish i would have one day, or not?). Leaders group packed in descent long section. Few all out attacks before finish, i was empty but this time able to be part of that. Actually i did not sprint, just pedalled as much as i could. Awesome race, thank you all who joined us!
Had to give this race a pass, time not in alignement but very pleased to see I managed a 43st position in the overall September GP with 2 races. Will enjoy Colin´s coverage of the 4th race during my weekend 🤗
Will be back for the 1st and 3rd race in October🥳
Quick question (unrelated to the race, which was great as usual): is there any way to find out if I ever made it into the top ten and/or got a mention. Background: If I don’t tell my daughter what I want for Christmas she’ll get me something silly. A Mucker T-Shirt would be nice, but is it ethically acceptable to wear one without ever having had a mention? Hmmm, deep thoughts! Go ponder!
hi, when we were doing top 20 mentions, i reckon you were definitely mentioned! I remember typing your name and double checking if it was double T or double H 😏! When we get 100 finishers, it’ll be back to top 20 so there’s still a chance….. or get top 3 in one of the other start times and you get a mention if there’s 3 or more finishers so the odds are much better!!??…. now, the pondering is firming back in your court! 😁
Off to ponder, but it may be a yes. And if the profit you make on this is enough to buy you a beer it’s well deserved! Brilliant race series. I don’t usually participate in the post-race banter here because I’m already spending too much time in strava, but you deserve a massive thanks for keeping this running! 👍👍👍
Bit of a sluggish start for me (oh no!) and I didn’t get into the group I’d’ve liked to be with. I was fine once the climb started, though a bit miffed that JC (KlausKinski) was a few hundred meters ahead and I probably wasn’t catching him. Did most of the ride with Guthinger-Mike and Brampaulussen, and we weren’t being easy on each other, I don’t think. Finished third among us three, with a wary eye on Stu (bikeanddogtrips) closing rapidly. Pretty happy with the result. Three no-shows mean I’m top ten in the September standings, still 4th in the World Champ standings, but BareRemi is now only 25 points behind. Can I hold him off? We will see!
Not a very good race. But I think I figured out why tonight: I lost the Trek Domane and went back to the default bike. That seems to make quite a difference. On the first flat section, I felt like I was towing a caravan. I already struggled in the first part to stay with the leading group. And the final blow came in the climb, where I couldn’t hold on to the lead group for more than 5 minutes. The default purple bikes seem to be a bit of a handicap.
I’ve been away but I’ll be back! Miss riding with you all, but might take a bit before I can keep up with the various grupettos’ I’ve been used to seeing.
