MUCKERS ‘The Classics’ Race 3 of 3. 23/05/23

Rouvy Route Used: DATEV Challenge Roth | Germany 40 km | 23.61miles | 1358 ft climbing

Route 4 from ‘The Classics’ Challenge, and the final race in my mini ‘The Classics’ championship

41 Registered | 24 finishers | 5 DNF | 12 DNS

Last Race tonight in this ‘The Classic’ mini championship and looking at the leaderborard before this final race, I’d say it’s between the top 4 of “Pimporro_GURE” , “karel_sousek_drafting”, “MikeHagen” and “nielsbrynnum” with just 12 points separating them. Its also a pretty similar route to the last one, with 300ft less climbing, so if all 4 have turned up, then it should be a cracker! Well, only Pimporro and Mike turned up so it was a fight between those 2 for top spot.

The route started nicely with a little downhill into flat section, but as with all good things, it came to an end and we hit the climb! this is Probably where the race order, or at least the groups were formed for the rest of the race.

“Tuden” took a convincing win tonight by finishing well over a minute in front of 2nd place sprint off which was won by “adampel” from “Pimporro_GURE”

4th for top Muckers Worldwide rider “MikeHagen” then a race for 5th between “cubes” and “robbiedoo” which the Czech rider just won! “EdAlves” came home in a very strong 7th, just in front of “chorus” in 8th and “Stefan_Smit” in 9th.

And finally, well done to “denny44” for getting himself and the Muckers team into the top 10! 2 Muckers in the top 10 from 29 starters is a great result.

cheers everyone and please comment if you can, and have a look around the site, we have loads of T shirts, hoodies, beanies, coasters etc etc that any purchase just goes to help keep the site going.

OK plug over, full results from the race and the championship below:

So, how did this championship finally end? first I hope with a nice surprise as the Muckers Worldwide Kit for your Avatar was one of the bonus’ for completing this final race in this championship!?? hopefully you’ve seen it and if you like it, add it to your Avatar.

With 2 of the top 4 after the 2nd round not turning up it was between pimporro and Mike and they both gave it there best shot, both riders finishing in the top 4! but Pimporro gets the win, with MikeHagen moving up to 2nd overall and Tuden claiming 3rd after only completing 2 rounds but wondering what could have been if he’d done all 3!? Are you in the top 20 at all? 50 different riders raced in at least 1 of the races so a top 20 finish is still a tough ask!

15th tonight and was a tough tough race! got into a really nice group with S.Ludford and enrico99 for a long time, but something happened to enrico and it was just the 2 of us. I was really focusing on the guys behind and maintaining that gap that I didn’t realize we were catching Rens. By the time we caught him. I was spent, so I just tried to recover in the draft which once we hit 20 miles into the race, I started to feel quite strong and ready to race! we hit the sharp climb near the end and Rens went, but Ste glitched back 100ft.!!?? I’ve been in that situation before so I decided to hang back and let him catch backup , only for it to happen another few times! we got back together and came over the line in 15th and 16th but more importantly, still with a nice gap to the guys behind.

As always, my plan to ease back in at 80% after a week of rest ended as soon as the flag dropped. I managed enough discipline not to follow the early movers but not sure I had the energy even if I wanted too. After losing a couple of wheels I used teammate ‘denny44’, on his route to the top 10, to drag me up to ‘Mucker1974’ and ‘enrico99’ and the three of us teamed up well for a long time. ‘enrico99’ glitched/dropped out and we were joined by ‘Rens_Piccavet’ dropping back from his work with ‘Mick_Michel’ who was strong enough to keep the gap to his three chasing teammates (strong ride Mick). A few glitches in the final miles didn’t help but not enough to impact final positions, Rens finished strong and I was holding on to Neil’s wheel after he’d spotted my predicament and waited while I got back on … thanks Mucker.

I managed to start the race in the top group and was able to stay in their slipstream for a while. However, as we approached the first climb, I had to let go as it became clear that the top riders were too strong for me. I teamed up with “Rens-Piccavet” to form a two-man group and we rode together for a long time. We were being chased by “Mucker1974” and “S.Ludford” and the gap between us and our pursuers was slowly closing.

I decided to increase the pace to maintain the gap, but it seemed that Rens couldn’t keep up. I faced a tough decision: wait for him or be selfish and push ahead. I chose the latter option, and I apologize to Rens for that. In the end, I reached the finish line in 13th place and felt happy. I have great respect for our top riders who were incredibly strong. Mucker, Ludford, and Rens were also formidable competitors. I had to give it my all, and as always, it was a fun experience.

    Cheers, Mick_Michel

Yet another great race👍 and very cool route.
Startet out like usual setting high pace, and seeing who hangs on after 3-5km. It became clear just before the first major bump in the road, that Adam and Sergio were the guys to beat for the win today.
Tryed to get them to take leads, but when either one was leading, the speed went to the low side, if we where to maintain our gap to the following pack. It just felt like they where hoping for me to drag them to the line😉 Concerning that I am not the best sprinter, I decided to drop them before it was to late. But it was harder than I thought and they fought well for several attempts, but eventually I was able to pull a decent gap. Later on I noticed that they were fighting each other fearcely some hundred meters behind me, and for a short moment I thought to myself that should have stayed and participating in the fun😉 those guys really were going at it. But after the effort of pulling a gap I kept my cool and continued alone for win.
Great race and strong performance by all riders 💪💪

Ayer me o pasé bien!!

I thought this race was going to be a bit hard and long for me, so I decided to include it in a long training. I did 1h30 climb training before the race and to my surprise, I still had some power left. Started strong but not to crazy and on the first hill I could maintain a decent pace. You know you’re doing good when you can stay with Denny! I did keep in the draft of Denny and Rune, not taking pulls, happy to be able to follow them. Denny is a teammate and only one of us 3 could get in the top 10, getting that precious mention, and I knew it wasn’t going to be me. Only thing I could do to help my teammate is to attack suddenly, hoping Rune would do the dirty work to close the gap and give Denny a little edge. Rune, probably annoyed me not taking pulls, took the bait and tried to close the gap but couldn’t initially. He decided to wait for Denny so he could help, not realizing he wouldn’t. I wonder wat Rune thought when Denny came back and he noticed he wasn’t going to do any work. Anyway, my legs empied out and Rue closed the gap. I let them pass and was happy with the work I could do, after a hard training ride. Saw Denny win the sprint with about 2m. \o/ Teamwork, love it!

Thanks for the jersey, Neil! My avatar is now wearing it. Yesterday I gave it my best shot to stay with Tuden, adampel, and Pimporro on the Hill, but it was not to be. EdAlves gave it a better shot than I, but was dropped also. I caught him by the top of the hill, and thought, oh good, someone to work with to stay ahead of the chasers. But, no. I found out later that Ed was red-lining just to stay in my draft, and I drifted away with about 18 km to go. Watched the action around me: Tuden got a gap but adampel and Pimporro were having quite the battle. Behind, would EdAlves stay ahead of cubes and robbiedoo? Sadly, no. How about chorus? Yes, he did! Another fun race.
