MUCKERS Thursday 7pm Race Night. 23/02/23
Rouvy Route Used: Challenge Wales | UK 30 km | 18.64 miles | 1125.33 ft climbing
Route 2 from the “TRI TRAINING CAMP | EUROPE | MEDIUM” challenge that ends 02/04/23
50 registered | 30 finished | 2 dnf | 18 dns
This is such a good route. Not only are we riding on the correct side of the road π, its a route that has everything. long climbs, short climbs, nice gradual downhills and flats, then rolling roads. This is probably why we had 50 registered tonight, with 32 on the start line.
Suns out so lets race before it rains!! Portugal’s “JoseCostaRonda” and Spain’s “feelslikemonday” sprinted this one out with the spoils going to the Portugese rider by 0:00:00.1 ! couldn’t be any closer really! superb effort to both of these guys who finished nearly 2 minutes in front of 3rd place “karel_sousek” who still averaged a very impressive 23.52 mph over the 18mile route!
4th came the American “A__J” who I think is one of the very first riders I asked to be friends with on Rouvy when I first joined as I’ve used his virtual partner a lot over the last year and a bit! And even with the constant barrage of race requests, he’s never deleted me even though I think this is the first race appearance in a long time! Nice to have you back, even if it’s just a passing visit! If you ever want a strong virtual partner on a solo ride, just search this guy as i think he’s done nearly every route!
5th, 6th and 7th were also in the 48 minute bracket with the order over the line going: “ralfz“, Top placed Muckers Worldwide Rider “Tom-MWW” then the Swedish rider “Kristoffer” in 7th.
8th, and in a bit of no mans land came “Bones1” and the only rider in the 49 minutes bracket.
Looks like we then get a sprint between three riders for the final 2 spots of the top 10! congratulations to the 2nd Muckers Worldwide rider over the line “tomlerieger” , who just got the better of “mgk1971” who claims the last mention……
Thanks to everyone for jumping on this race. I really do appreciate it and hope you liked it, and as I’ve said before, if you don’t have a team name, the fact you’ve raced with us makes you a Mucker…. if you want to be!
cheers

23rd for me on this really great route. Just a shame my weight holds me back on the climbs as I think I could be more competitive here if I didn’t have such a deficit up the climbs! Got off to a decent start and soon settled into a group with me, Andy and kin until Andy dropped back to bring Jeff up to the group. they both came past and i glitched over 130ft behind them! π€¬ But Andy backed off and i got on his wheel and we were all together. We caught a few riders in front of us but I was over heating by then and when they all kicked on, I couldn’t go with them. Yet again, Andy backed off and we rode in till he totally backed off near the end and left me and Jeff to maybe sprint the last bit?? i kicked and I thought he did as well but it was very short from him and I came over the line quite easily in front and feeling like i possibly shouldn’t have done that! Very enjoyable overall though and a great route.
Nearly back to full fitness after a few off weeks. This was a little bit more my style of racing. I thought I was doing well until I glitched and Lyndon65 passed me. I was racing with S Ludford for a while then I caught rouvy1byron on the last mile. Well done everyone.
After a brief discussion before the race,i intended to join Neil and Andy, and form a mini peloton, and to take it reasonably easy( if there s such a thing),how wrong could i be! All started so well, until 30seconds in,when my laptop deceided to misbehave,so i head to jump off the bike,to reset it,costing me valuable time. You would think only losing just over a minute, would not make much difference, well it sure did ! I spent the next 8 miles chasing the group,at one point i nearly gave up,but Muckers Worlwide team mate Andy ,spotted me in his rear view mirror, and eased off the pace,so i could get his back wheel, and join the group.Great fun then riding with Neil,Andy,Kin Kwan, for the rest of the ride.Nice to be riding in the UK for a change,oh if anyone was wondering what the 3 tractors where doing on the right, they were destoning potato land.
I noticed you guys were riding in a nice paceline I tried to catch up with you guys, but I couldn’t. Nice race, looking forward to the next one.
you really weren’t that far off us at all. it’s sometimes worth just going flat out to bridge the gap and then seeing if you can stay in the draft and recover! see you next time!
Stuck in a solo TT tonight, my 98kg hinders me on rolling terrain. After failing to hold on to the Top 10 riders I tried to stick with Lyndon65 and Kylofski but dropped back every time it went upwards and watched them drift away into the distance. Happy overall with the ave. MPH and these races definitely helping boost fitness. Thank You Muckers.
Well done Steve, strong race tonight and i feel your pain on the way Rouvy penalizes us heavier riders! But considering this, you’re well up there mate and turning in some fantastic results considering. cheers for the comments.
Avatar – Master of Deception (now there’s a film title). Why do you all look so calm? To be very clear, the flesh and blood version of my Avatar has two fans blowing cyclone levels of air, about 10 neatly folded paper towels for blowing my nose, a towel across my handlebars to stop my bike rotting from the sweat which drips from my body like ice on a hot day. Three water bottles, a banana which I never eat, I couldn’t digest it at 3w/kg nor could my sweaty hands open it. My neighbours clearly think … who knows what they think … judging by the noises emitting from my pain cave, although, the windows have to be open so the whole neighborhood hears my grunting. I’d leave the windows shut but I raise the temperature of the house by 2Β°C – saves a fortune on heating costs. By the end, my HR bpm is 10 points higher than Google tells me it should be, I can barely swing my leg over the saddle, I risk short circuiting the house by touching anything electrical with my hands and have to get my kit into a bin bag before the carpet gets squelchy. Whereas you lot … you lot … appear to be pedaling along whistling your favourite tunes in perfect serenity … please explain yourselves.
lol, you are not alone in any of that!!! apart from the banana……
Very kind words, thank you! This was a good one and I emptied the tank. I have to get off work a bit early to make these rides, but when I do they are good ones. Lot of strong riders.
However, I had no idea Muckersworldwide had grown to this! A website and everything! I’ve been noticing more and more users have the Muckers team name. Well done on creating a great online race community within a great platform. That is the one thing Rouvy is lacking and its good to be a part of it. Keep the invites coming and I’ll always join when I can.
Thank you so much for commenting and the kind words yourself! really strong ride from you on here tonight/today/yesterday (delete as appropriate) and nice to hear it wasn’t just a cruise along to 4th! definitely got some very strong riders now and who regularly turn up for every race as well and it’s always good to see the tight battles throughout the field as i’ve always said, all you need is 1 or 2 riders around your pace and you will have a race!
The whole Muckers Worldwide thing is just crazy how fast its growing and how loyal the guys are. Only been going since January and both myself and Kyle are still loving it and the interaction with all the other riders from all around the world just blows me away!
Thanks again for taking the time to comment but I want, no, I expect , a top 3 from you next time though! ππ
Good route, definitely some strong riders, once the front little group goes it was a fight between the three nearest which yoyo’d a bit then split up into solo efforts it seemed. Out the window went the potential race for third and an effort to maintain place until the end.
Strong rider MUcker. And thank you for commenting!
Enjoyed this ride my kind of coarse. Still struggling going down hill but I might have sussed it. The only problem now is gliching and every time it does it I lose about 100 meters. Anyway to race thanks to everyone and Neil
Hi Lyndon, I’m getting the same glitching but it doesn’t do it on map mode. I know its not the same, but it should all be sorted with the next update.π€ thanks for racing with us mate.
Hi all
it was a superb race tonight – I have never been in Wales and I loved the scenery.
Great thanks to my “teammate” today, “mgk1971”, who I know since school days (same school and same courses). It was grreat fun as always to ride with you. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get into the TOP10 for a “well deserved” mention π I will try to do better next time. The top riders were too strong for me and my maximum output. But it was funny to watch the yoyos between “TomLerieger”, “mgk” and myself during the race. All well done – hope to see you soon again.
Chris alias “uffzynda”
Hi all you Muckers worldwide!
This was one of the best races ever: I loved the scenery in Wales, remembered me of an nice holiday with a Girl which is now my wife, where we went on the traces of Rosamunde Pilcher years ago!
The decent route, climbs, downhills, straigts for drafting, perfect for a battle. My legs were superb this evening, had a hard battle with Chris and Matthias for a topten ranking. I attacked on the last hill 2.5km to go, went all in; hr on the maximum (173bpm) and saved 1 second on my chasers! Avg hr was 163 bpm and I was completly done bue happy and proud of my 9th place. Thank you all for organizing, riding, and fighting, was a pleasure! Cheers Tom
Nice comments Mucker. And you know we share in being proud of a class result like that in a tough field of riders! Well done again!
hey Chris, “Well Deserved!!” Thank you for your continued support and I really look forward to your comments now so you need to comment every time you race with us to keep me happy ππ
Hi Tom,
it is unfair if you give everything you have on the last meters…so I don’t have a chance to come closer. ππ€£ We three were only separated by 3 seconds in the end! I also gave eveything I had, maybe I could have continued the battle for another 500m, but it was over too early. I rested 4 days before and didn’t come into a real race mode. But it was one of the best races ever still! Thanks for the battle, I enjoyed it!
I wonder where all the top racers were for the second race (Sydney). I finished on P5 here. π€
