Decided on 2 races tonight as the Vietnam one was a short one and we had this short one from this challenge to do as well so they made a nice pair for one night.

Tuden” got the win, which is even more impressive as he’d already done really well in the first race tonight, as did “karel_sousek” who came a very close 2nd! “robbiedoo“, who looked to have had the worst glitching in the first race, came back so strong for this one and got a bronze for his efforts. well done Rob!

nielsbrynnum” got 2 places closer to the podium that the first race, but 4th was the finishing place on this one. 5th, and top Muckers Worldwide rider in this race, was our very own ‘Doctor Power’ ( Not sure if that one will catch on but you never know…..) “S.Ludford” with a great effort to finish in front of 6th place “rouvy1bryon

7th for the ‘pocket rocket’ “Andy_UP” who just pipped “mszczu” in 8th, then the ‘gap shrinker’ (sorry, I’ll stop trying to make these names up, its late, I’ve had some fizzy pop and i am feeling a little giddy) “Jeff65” in a very strong 9th place!

final mention goes to “robinagy” for a nice 10th place and wasn’t far off 9th to be honest. 17.4mph average is a great return on this route.

Well done to everyone who completed this, especially those who did the 2 races.

cheers

Bad race for me, has to re-calibrate the turbo as after the first 10m , tired to carry on but had to switch off and reboot and then re-calibrate. Even though I done the first race legs felt strong and completed the last 8.5miles in 27mins so would have been looking at around 31mins , but these things happen. Well done all who completed both.

Doctor Power’!!! Most weeks it’s “Call a Doctor”. 2nd race of the night and I’m feeling quite good after keeping my heart rate under control in Race 1. Over 10 minutes between races so I kept spinning at 1.5w/kg – 2w/kg to keep my engine warm. Fast start, quickly found teammate ‘Andy_UP’ and we both quickly worked out chasing the top 4 was futile and we were each others best hope for a good finish. If I’m feeling good Andy is great help on low gradient climbs as I can ignore the data on the screen and just concentrate pacing off his back wheel. Sometimes I pull ahead, I am happy to do this as I assume we will regroup at the top ready for the descent, I later discover that Race 1 had drained some power reserves from my teammate. ‘rouvylbryon’ caught us just before the long descent, I hung on his wheel and all 3 of us steamed down the descent together. As we hit the flat 2nd half of the race I know both these riders will normally beat me so I decide to ride for Andy (not knowing he was a little tired) by launching hard attacks knowing ‘rouvylbryon’ had to chase with Andy safely in the draft. Then I rested and let them catch. 3 repeats of Attack & Rest. ‘rouvylbryon’ had obviously worked it out and had to consider pulling Andy to the line with a little uphill finish that plays to his opponents strengths versus the gap he was willing to allow me, had he known Andy was tired (dropping away in final mile) and committed to chasing me he would surely have secured 5th spot but there is no way of knowing. Apologies to ‘rouvylbryon’ for teaming against you but it was fun to engage in a tactical battle and I guess fun for you to try overcome being outnumbered.

Most of my rockets where spend in the first race, defending my championship podium place and beating number 2 of this championship. Also claimed “top Mucker” of the race. Enough bragging and excuses for me being tired, I still wanted to have some fun on this race. Tried to hold a high pace on the hill, hoping Steven Ludford would stay with me. I could use him in the valley as he is a diesel locomotive and a good teammate. I wanted to hold of Bryon before the decent, but I couldn’t. I know he is a tough rider to beat near the end. Steven liked to have some (team)fun and blasted away. I tried to hold Bryon’s wheel, as he closed the gap, up to 3 times. After that, Bryon couldn’t put in the big watts anymore but kept riding hard. Too hard for me near the end, I had to let go. Bad news for Steven but somehow he managed to stay infront of Bryon. Great fun.

Guys, thanks for the race again! I enjoyed it even more than the last one. Somehow I had more in the legs.
Okay my trademark is: late at the start by 30seconds or about that… now I was messing with my HRM belt (never by a Decathlon HRM!!!!)
So it started as usual, tryin to get behind somebody, on full gas. I passed a few guys, and I thought @Ryanio-Bianchi will be the one who will be the good companion, a week ago it turned out he is stronger than me. But then I saw the pace-difference is too high, so finally I got up with @jeff65. Needless to say he also looked like well stronger than me, (and no too much left in the bag for me) so sorry for I didn’t lead too much, but anyway It was a nice ride together, thank you Jeff!
It was also as usual: struggling on the uphills to keep up with jeff, but faster on downhills, where I tried to recover somehow.
At the final sprint I messed up things, didn’t realized that there is a 15 meter elevation left at the very end, and I expected a flat sprint… What happened is, my nice Elite trainer just stopped my pedals totally like it had bound to concrete, no way out, and no thime to use the shifter… 😀 😀 There I was just laughing, and released this print, I not a good sprinter anyway, though I should be with my 85kgs. Maybe next year.. 🙂

Hi Robert what a great account of your race, was good fun riding with you, and I think we were pretty well matched, I did put an extra effort in with 0.6 miles to go,and did expect you to beat me to the line. Hope to see you next Thursday, will be looking out for you now 🙂

i was totally spent after the Vietnam race so decided to use this one as a bit of interval or HIIT with Swiftly. so wasn’t really racing although It was funny how i caught and passed others when i as at full power for the first few goes …. just wish i could do it for longer! Nice to get into 1st place right at the start as well when me and Swifty decided to go max attack from the line for as long as we could! Enjoyed the training but wasn’t a race for me this one.
