MAIN RACE REPORT:

102 registered riders, with 69 riders finishing this superb route in Belgium. 79 on the start line at 7pm UK time and off we all went with more than likely different strategies on what tonight was going to be about.

So who got the podium positions tonight?? Another win for “ErlendSundstrom” but by the smallest of gaps over Muckers Worldwide team rider “Tuden” with top British rider “breers33” just 4 seconds later to claim the “Bronze! All 3 riders completing the route in under 59 minutes!

We will go for the sprint winner mentions again tonight, so who got them selves a mention out of the 66 riders left to finish??

“Stefan_Schmidt” won the sprint for 5th, “Stefan793” beat 2 others to win the sprint for 8th and “s.p” wins the sprint for 11th and showing that the Germans were well up for sprinting for those top spots tonight!

21st sees 2 Polish riders sprint it out with “macko” getting the mention then a 4 way sprint for 24th won by Mucker “Grochang”! 2 way sprint for 30th won by American rider “SpicyMacCurry” then our next sprint off is a 2 way battle for 36th won by “jnovak74” and 43rd place is awarded to “grupedo” who gets the identical time as 44th place but ROUVY must have a reason to place one in front of the other! But well done for winning an identical time sprint!!!

47th was a kind of 4 way sprint that was won by “denny44”. I say kind of because i was part of this and the sprint actually happened on the last little climb before the end then the order was sorted well before the line came up. So although myself and Mike were very close over the line, we were rolling so I just can’t give myself props for freewheeling faster than Mike! 😂

2 British riders sprint out 54th place with “Easyspanner” getting the win and then that is the last of the sprint offs for this race.

I’m quite enjoying giving the mentions to the sprint winners (I will still only mention those who abide by the Muckers Racing rules though) and it might just give some of you a little bit more incentive to push and have a go over the line if it means you get a well deserved mention on a Tuesday race/ride?

Thank you to everyone for joining us again! We will keep the races going throughout the year so hopefully if you don’t get out in the real world, you can rest assured the Muckers race will be scheduled and you might get a mention and a race (all you need is 1 or 2 riders around your level and you will have a race!!)

All we ask is you help us keep this going with the odd purchase in the Muckers Shop/Owayo Team shop as that’s the only way we fund this whole thing we call Muckers Worldwide.

Nice team ride tonight with 3.0w/kg held up the climbs then around that on the other sections, yet we had nice draft there so not as much power needed. The long climbs were just long enough to make a 3.0 feel tough and then the little kickers just invited you to blast over them to keep momentum and then recover down the other side. don’t feel i burnt myself out at all but we will see on Thursday…….

Slow week on Rouvy. I had no challenge routes left, did the Prologue race yesterday and it was boring too, so decided to do the Muckers race today. Rode this one on March 8th with ghost riders drafting, had 1:08:55 there; today’s goal was to beat that time.

Race started good, I was with the front peloton but the first hill dropped all the wheel suckers like me. Riders from behind started to catch up on subsequent downhills, I was in a group of 3-4 riders for a while but someone either took off or got dropped on the dark red hills along the way. Eventually grochang’s group caught us, I stayed with them in the last part. Miscalculated the final downhill, I thought it was steep enough to give top speed so I sprinted in the last kicker and got in front of the other three, but only to realize the slope eases off a little in the end, they came with big draft behind me, I think we all hit 10-12wkg in the end but the draft helped them more. I finished last on that four way sprint. 27th overall. 1:08:06 better than the previous time, all that mattered. It was a good one.

  3. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

Nice route, perhaps some climbs were a little long for my tastes but we had a good workout.
I follow the 3.0 w/kg max track and I follow Loudford and Svard, sometimes it seems to me that they too have opted for training pace but then in the long run I lose the wheel. In the meantime I often work with Torben but something doesn’t work correctly because we are close, then far away and close again… in the distance I see Grupedo who is perhaps waiting for us to finish the race. So it was, then in the last km it was just the two of us, hard sprint in the last 350 m….
Result? Identical time on Strava, identical time on Rouvy… but he was 43rd and I was 44th…. Also this Tuesday I learned another lesson, if you get to the sprint ex-equo but for some reason they give you second place.. you still miss the mention 🤣.
I’ll make up for it… thanks everyone 💪

  4. Kyle Goodram says:

This was a race of two halves. I knew I wasn’t going to do well in the championship on Thursday, so I decided to give it a shot here. I started off steady and slowly passed the Tuesday training group consisting of Mucker1974, Andy_UP, SillySiNL, and MikeHagen. The problem I have is that my Kickr Core is rubbish on flats and downhills, so I end up spinning at 120 rpm and only getting 1.7 w/kg. However, on the uphills, I’m getting 3.6 w/kg at 60 rpm. I think it’s in ERG mode anyway.Dok_PS found me, and we rode together. He pulled me most of the way, even up the hill. Dok_PS, you are a very strong rider. I could see S.Ludford in the distance as we got to a climb. We would close the gap on him, but then on the downhills, he would increase the gap. It wasn’t until the last big climb that we caught S.Ludford and passed him. From there on, it was just me and Dok_PS.Knowing he is a strong rider, the only way I could beat him in this race was to give it everything on the last little kicker of a climb that would give me a slight edge on the downhill. Here goes, 8 w/kg for the last little kicker. Does Dok_PS jump with me? Nope. I’ve got the edge and the 40th position. Thanks for all the help, Dok_PS, and thanks for the motivation, S.Ludford. See you Thursday for the Championship Race.

    • Dok_PS says:

Thank you! It was fun riding together in such a way and to see how many we would catch on the climbs with a controlled steady pacing on the climbs. I limited my power thresholds this week as I will ride the very though 253 km Lüttich Bastogne Lüttich challenge in real on Saturday (likely at very low temperature and maybe rain). I was impressed by your acceleration at the end.
Strange to hear about your downhill issues with the KickrCore. It is likely an issue with the mode you selected as there should be no differences to other Kickrs and since the drafting change in ROUVY I do much better downhill and in the flats.

  5. Tomáš Hloušek says:

Nice race for me. Because I try to ride all the challenge routes to the fullest, I tried to ride from the beginning. Since I’m slower on the descent, I thought riders at my level were ahead of me. But thanks to their trainning drive strategy, they were behind me. So I was riding with the stronger riders all the way and most of the time I was just trying not to fall off. I’m a bad sprinter and when I started to finish it was half a second late and I lost by 0.2 seconds to SpicyMacCurry. See you on Thursday race.
This race will be very special for me. After finnishing race, I will finish whole chalenge and reach level 80.
I have already invited some of you for a short cool down ride through Prague, but everyone is welcome.

    • Neil Rushby says:

Ahhhh so you are RaTim?? excellent report, really happy you feel the whole muckers concept and community has helped you get to where you are, and nice idea to put the cool down invite in here. nice gesture.

  6. Steven Ludford says:

I was hoping to join the larger Muckers group on the max3.0w/kg train but it took so long to form I found myself in another group. We were still only doing about 2.5w/kg average so I think a few of us were still watching for the group to turn up, when the first upward inclines arrived before they got to us, we just kicked on, Squalo delle Alpi, Svard, Myself and joined by Dolphwader. I could sense Svard was on an ‘easy’ day but still pushing hard enough for me to be close to my limit, so we began to pull away. Knowing I would fade on the long climb I decided to work with Svard to increase my gap behind and hopefully help leapfrog him to the next group on the road, which ‘kind of’ worked. I tried… and failed… to latch on to Dok PS and kylofski as they came past resulting in a long solo effort to the line watching and maintaining the gap behind.

    • Neil Rushby says:

yeah weird start wasn’t it, i was up there as well and had to back off a-lot to ride with the group i’d said i’d jump in with. i reckon i’d have been fine staying with you guys as well but you know me, if i agree to something, i will stick to it! Tuesdays are soooo different to Thursdays though aren’t they

  7. Jeff65 says:

First ride on Rouvy for 3 weeks due to various commitments, intended a steady spin, but got caught up in the 3.0 w/kg Muckers peloton. Was on my limit most of the time, great fun riding in a group again, lost contact a few times, many thanks to Mike Hagen, for dropping back and dragging me back into the pack. Lasted until the last climb, and decided to drop back and take it easy to the line.Great fun as always!

    • Neil Rushby says:

i was willing you along Mucker. it makes a change from my usual begging you to slow down so i will enjoy it while i can as it only seems to take you a few rides and your back to smashing me! well done as those climbs were long and hard to stay at 3.0!

  8. Karel Soušek says:

Thunderstorm outside and inside. I could indeed hear that through open window shortly after race started, how exciting! Before that, i was not sure if i should join at all. After big weekend ride i was feeling tired even today. Race started, do i get dropped in the first short climb? Noo, i managed to stay with leaders. Since then my self confidence only went up. Four of us in breakaway, then i think Brian tried to distance me over horizont into descent, how unrespectful!

I did not give up and erased 50m advantage just before the longest climb. Again i was ready they will drop me now, but not yet. Still together before final flat section with few bumps. I launched little push at one of them, but guys counter attacked and now i was finally distanced shortly before the end. Very good racing, thank you all who joined!

  9. HalAir says:

I have started a 12week tailored training plan (coached TP) which will keep me occupied for a a while – and outdoor season is kicking off. All in all that mean fewer Mucker races for a while for me.
However my TP do have a fair amount of Z2 built into it, usually on weekends so will try to incorporate these into Muckers Sunday Socials as often as possible 🙂

    Cheers, Haldor aka HalAir

  10. Bruno Kos says:

Even though I don’t have HR, I’ve become a big fan of the Muckers series of racing. Even though I plan to stop racing in May (as I have other outdoor activities scheduled for that month and beyond), I hope the series will continue into autumn/winter as well. I enjoy seeing the same people in almost all the races, and based on their times for these routes, they are probably among the best racers in Rouvy. While racing against them, I can track my progress. Though I can’t keep up with Karel, Tuden, and others, trying to catch them is helping me progress.

    • Neil Rushby says:

awesome comments Bruno. it’d be great if you just got a hr sensor for when you come back on full time?? they are only around £25 from amazon and are a great training tool as well. also means you’d be included in all the championship races for the rest of the year? Like i say all along, its just a way to stop those on dumb trainers cheating, or those who decide its ok to use an electric bike or tandem on a smart trainer set up! take care, Neil
