RACE WITHIN A RACE REPORT:
Simple rules tonight, no Heart rate Zone7 at all. which on a normal race is quite easy, but a climb such as this, its very easy to creep out of 6 into 7 without noticing! “lrollin” wins this tonight, with “keithaitch” in 2nd and “m-forby” in 3rd. Muckers Worldwide Team Rider “nielsbrynnum” gets 4th best and in 5th place in the no heart rate zone 7 race comes “A2-569-DIEGO-DONATI” 17 of you stuck to the rules so well done and hope you enjoyed it.
MAIN RACE REPORT:
I think we have a new winner tonight with “RuudBaars” crossing the line with a 1 minute 27 seconds gap to “Hinsbergen” in 2nd who was just under 30 seconds in front of 3rd placed “s.p.” Getting this done in under 60 minutes is a great time and the next 5 riders also managed to do the same: “lrollin” in 4th, “adampel” in 5th, “keithaitch” in 6th, “m-forby” in 7th and “Rocket996” in 8th. Well done to you all!
Top Muckers Worldwide Team Rider tonight is “nielsbrynnum” in 9th, followed by team mate “Gronen” in 10th, then a sprint for 11th which was won by “A2-569-DIEGO-DONATI” with “Stefan_Smit” in 12th. “Oliver.D” gets 13th, then another sprint finish which sees Muckers Worldwide Team Riders against each other with “batbuilder” just getting over the line in 14th and “kylofski” getting awarded 15th.
16th is awarded to “HalAir”, 17th to “TomBuilder”, 18th to American “Guthinger_Mike” and 19 to Canadian Mucker “rouvy1bryon”. Last mention?? well after 7 NEDs , it goes to Muckers Worldwide Team rider “tomlerieger” with a nice ride to get top 20!
Well done everyone who finished this, we just did over 3200ft of climbing tonight over 15 miles and just got it done!
cheers everyone and see you on Thursdays Final Race of the championship!

i had a plan…. i stuck to it for the first climb (zone 4 and 5 heart rate), took it easy down the first downhill and then set about doing the same up the 2nd , but, i was getting dropped by the group of Muckers i was with, so i changed the plan to test my 3.0w/kg endurance and to see if i actually hit zone 7 while pushing that hard.. Yes i hit it, but it was good to train to power up that 2nd climb and overtake a few riders in the process. I just hope i’ve not taken too much out of the legs for Thursdays championship final race.
I will participate in the Maratona in 2024 and I love to ride the Pordoi. This climb works well for me and so the motivation was high to test the climbing mood even though it’s November and the winter season just started. The start was tough. Everyone in the top 10 pushed very hard up to the Compolongo. That was not my plan but I tried to stay close. I moved to the ninth place at the beginning of the Pordoi. Closing the distance of 100+ m to seventh and eighth with „m-forby“ was still possible but would have required another hard time outside my plan. So I stayed at 4 to 4.2 w/kg and waited to see whether the distance changes or not. It did not and stayed about the same the whole climb. So all rider used a very steady climbing power. Congrats to all and to “RuudBaars”. Well deserved.
lol. 47 slower than the winner :-p
But this was a nice zone 2 ride for me. Needed to do some low power training into my schedule if I’m to continue racing with the Muckers. Two tough Sunday races in a row was too much for this Mucker. Felt good after tonights ride and will defo do more of these.
Congrats to all strong riders finishing in top 10. Very strong 🙂
Tonight’s Zone 7 race served as a warm-up for Thursday’s Championship Finale. Originally intending it to be a zonal race, my competitive instincts took over. This marked my second ride after a week off due to a bout of the cold, so I wasn’t at 100%, but I had to give it a try. The goal was 3.6 W/KG on the first climb and 3.7 W/KG on the second climb, then coast to the finish. However, I ended up pushing 3.8 W/KG on both climbs. By the end of the first climb, I found myself in the 22nd position. Knowing that the competitors ahead matched my pace on the second climb, I realized gaining positions might be a challenge. Despite this, I managed to surpass “HalAir” and finished about 60 ft behind “batbuilder” at the top of the climb. During the descent, I caught up with “bathbuilder,” exchanging positions a few times, but when it mattered, he stayed ahead. I officially finished 19th, but thanks to the Muckers Regulations and Rules, I secured the 15th position. Quite impressed with the outcome and looking forward to aiming for a better position in the Championship Finale on Thursday. See you all then.
Wow that was a tough, wasn’t looking forward to the last climb, being a heavier rider, probably started too quickly, and when I came to the last incline realised I didn’t have much energy left. Tried keeping a 3 w/kg but that wasn’t achievable, got caught by a mini Muckers peloton, Rens, Neil, and Andy, glad to finally go over the top, and coast to the line. Thanks for organising these races, they are great motivation,I probably dnf if I would have been doing a solo effort ! Cheers
Tuff climb which seemed to serve as a preparation starter for the final championship race on Thursday 🎉🏆🎉 For the race yesterday I shifted from my tri bike to my old road bike which for the w/kg worked well but the gears drove me crazy 😤😤 for sure needs some proper adjustment before Thursday 😅 I got a good start on the first climb with a lot of help from super strong 💪🏻💪🏻 m-forby 🇩🇰 however I couldn’t hold his wheel all the way to the top of the first climb. From the downhill section I tried to adjust my gears and find a decent pace towards the end. Hope to see as many of you on Thursday 🏆
I struggled tonight, mainly with my heart rate monitor, trying to get the thing to read correctly. After a lot of fiddling about I gave up. Unfortunately fiddling about on a climb is not great for racing and I was passed by quite a few people. I then took it easy for a while and enjoyed the scenery until I saw Kyle catching up to me ( and then passing me on the descent . That gave me an incentive to race again . I wouldnt have taken those descent bends as fast in real life . I’m going to try a different HRM for the”important” final championship race on Thursday, which is of course another climb.
Hello everyone. I’m afraid I didn’t understand the rules correctly (I’m new here). I thought you can’t stay in Zone7 for more than a minute ;(
Nevertheless, thank you very much for the race.
It was a lot of fun.
Tonite I had a plan, to test my current capacity… Last Friday I had a tuff leg-day in the gym, followed by close to 3hrs of hard work on the sunday Muckers-ride (Grossglockner) so legs werent entirely fresh…
Nevertheless, my plan was to do first hill above threshold (4w/kg intended, 3,9W/kg achieved), recover a little on the descent leading into the main climb and try to do that at threshold (3,6w/kg intended, 3,2 achieved). No regard to zones, except preventing a blow-up 😀
Managed to hold 15th position after climb #1 and descent, but at the very beginning of Climb #2 I was passed by 4 people, placing me in 18-19th place for the time being. Climb2 was a little tougher than expected and power fell slightly below threshold, but I managed to keep a fairly steady pace. Was passed by a couple of riders, and kept distance from a few others and finished in 20th place overall. Zero time in HR Z7 and 1s in Power zone 7
I am a heavy rider (close to 90kg) but I enjoy these longer climbs, but will never be threat for the top spots – but chasing that = good VO2 sessions ha! Now its time to recover, in preparation of the last November race on thursday!
Thanks for the race all, and to Neil for making the effort hosting/reporting!
