This is where you will find the updates and GC for the W/KG training championship.
Remember every week is a different w/kg target as we go through the month.
We’ve had to have a major re-think on how to present this Blog since NITEOR shut down at the end of February so we will highlight those that hit the target that week but at the very top we will have the most up-to-date GC so you now have a place to find that information very quickly.
We’ve also made the points system a lot simpler. 10 points if you hit that weeks desired w/kg average, 9 points if you are 0.1 place away. 8 points if you are 0.2 away all the way down to 1 point for those who are 0.9 away and then we stop with the points because even 0.9 away from target is someone who’s not really taking part in this and has just joined us for the race, which is totally fine by the way, just we need to stop somewhere.
In the weekly results we are showing all the riders who hit the target and also the version of the race they attended.
We will show the GC up to around 100th place for now and it will always be the first “table/chart” we show below:
GC: (After the 14/04 races added)
*bike symbol is for those who attended this week

FEBRUARY: (we will leave this in just as a reminder of what happened)
OMG! NITEOR are closing down and this means a major rethink to this championship as we won’t get the same data anymore. It was looking as if this championship was going to have to be scrapped but Mucker Ste Ludford has come to the rescue with some spread sheets to help all the championships carry on in some way. We actually feel like we have made some actual improvements to this championship as well, with a more simpler and easy to understand points system that Ste has also gone back to the start of the year and implemented!!
Going back to the ethos of what this championship is, its about training at a certain watts per kilo and not getting lower or higher points based on the decimal surprise and hoping you did well. So basically everyone who hits the target w/kg gets 10 points. then if you are 0.1 away (either up or down) , you get 9, 0.2 away you get 8 and so on and so on. And it will be the w/kg you get allocated on the ROUVY leaderboard after the race so it’s easy for you to keep track off as the weeks go by. My plan is to update this once a month but only show the GC table, rather than how the individual weeks finished, like i did above for January. As the year goes on and my head isn’t as mashed/blown up by all the new skills i am having to learn/be taught, i might be able to do it more often, but for now, as long as we get the GC on here for the month, i hope that you will be ok with that, or at least understand that this is how it’s just got to be for now. I think we will go with the top 30. As you can see below, you can almost work it out what riders did.. which i like. for example, MikeHagen has done 9 races and got 89 points so he’s had 8 tens and 1 nine! Sunniva in 5th, 8 races, 80 points which is perfect for each race! same for ValRdz and Pablo1945.. perfect tens. I hope you can also see that and see how its better/easier to understand than the old points system? Bye for now.
co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...
After 1 month, I’m very happy to be in 5th overall in the GC, especially as i just can’t seem to get as close to the w/kg target as i’d like! I’ve never been close enough to get top 5 for the week, but i reckon i might in Feb! 🤞🤞🤞The 2.8 was very hard for me, but i pushed as hard as i could and came over the line with a 2.74 which is my highest for the year so even though this is a “training” championship, the last 2 have felt like max training!! But so far so good.
tx again Neil for all of your entheustic work. Not that I don’t love you all, but I am not doing the Tuesday thing going forward. I need more flexibility in my week. handsome with Sunday..great workout but as weatger and daylight is improving, Sunday is my best day of the week to get outside on the gravel. But don’t slack Muke Hagen, Thursday I hope will still be game on. cheers
I like this new version of the Tuesday Muckers appointment, I work for all the stages good but never perfect.
In February easy I must one race but will be another great challenge to do.
At the end when we have twice race as today, the first it’s better to call out all and not warm up 😂, and is nice to ride the second for find the right target.
Cheers to everyone 💪🫶🏻🦈
Mike, do you remember Neil bet L100 that “hitters” would never be able to do this game? Help me out. I wasn’t completely paying attention, and my 80+ yo memory can get a bit vague.
maybe it was 100 euro…I might have heard it from The Bern, and he is a bit of a loose Canon. anyhow, we are really competitive old SOBs..even in a game like this..good job. 😁
I find this W/kg championship really intriguing. It’s hard (very hard) to stifle the competitive juices and let folk go, especially when one *knows* one can easily keep up. But I’m also an OCD perfectionist and trying to nail that W/kg target is appealing! Managed to do it for one month, but for a year? 11 more months? Not sure about that. We will see!
cheers Mike for the comments. I watch with interest to see if you start to feel this is also beneficial in a training context rather than just a perfectionist one. . . . .
It’s really nice this new way of doing the race, only I don’t understand why those who are tied do not have the same number of points for the ranking. It’s not fair 😮
Anyway this month I missed two, I hope to come back later in ranking.😇
Hi, thanks for the comments. We are kinda stuck with how NITEOR have this set up at the moment. No one else really uses it so if we crack on this year and it proves to be popular, i can approach NITEOR and ask if there’s a way to do joint placings for races with this w/kg format for future events. I’d also like to see it, but it’s also very early days and right now i am just grateful the option is there to chose at this moment in time.
I think it looks a lot neater now. The decimal surprise was a bit of an “arrgh!” moment at times, and after the two February 2.8 races I have my doubts about it anyway. I nailed my target 190.4 watt average both times, but one was 2.79 W/kg and the other was 2.81 W/kg. The math doesn’t work for some reason, and I’m happy not to worry about it anymore. The trick now will be to avoid operator errors, like the Pico del Teide 2.0 where I was too high at the top of the descent and even coasting all the way down could not get it off. And LaBeuze is nipping at my heels!
tx again Neil for all of your entheustic work. Not that I don’t love you all, but I am not doing the Tuesday thing going forward. I need more flexibility in my week. And same with Sunday..great workout but as weatger and daylight is improving, Sunday is my best day of the week to get outside on the gravel. But don’t slack Mike Hagen, Thursday I hope will still be game on. cheers
Why, oh why, after two months I’m in 3rd place on Niteor, and according to the new rules I’m only 5th? I guess I should be disappointed 🙂 And on top of that, Neil is the one who kicked me out of my 3rd place, lol.
But seriously, the rules are very clear now. Thank you, Muckers, for your work with all the events. I really like the W/kg training, and I’m glad it’s going to continue.
glad i could kick you out.😂 but it was getting a bit annoying for me to ride at what should be a solid 2.5, then end up with a 2.52 when i’d have gladly backed off if id have known i needed to. i think the decimal surprised would have turned into the decimal kiss of death by the end of the year and the whole point of this training championship is to aim for that w/kg average and now its more manageable for those of us that kept getting surprised more than others
I think it is fascinating to see the correlation between w/kg and time. It’s the point of the metric to predict how fast a rider is? Check it out 4worldpeace finish in a time of 21.38 with an average w/kg of 2.82, Maguzzo averaged 2.93 w/kg and finished almost 7 minutes behind 4worldpeace. I guess like everything else in life the metric is relative. It helps each individual compare one ride to another but it doesn’t really allow riders to compare themselves to other riders. Am I missing something? In any case I am very appreciative to all the muckers who have found a way to keep it going. Thankyou!!!
Neil I agree with Sunniva that is a little sus 😊
I think draft is the biggest impact above Chuck, if 4worldpeace was in the massive group I was in he would saved many watts in the draft, isolated at the same power would have cost a lot of time … only guessing.
In answer to Sunniva’s question, and I know you guys are just teasing Neil. The riders who have moved up slightly on the new leaderboard would have previously lost points due to the ‘so called’ decimal surprise. On the new system it’s ‘what you see in Rouvy leaderboard is what you get’, no surprise to follow. But now I know what he meant in the brief “Just make me look good Ste”
hey Chuck, so i suppose you’re not in favor of bonus points for riders whos names begin with an M and end with ucker1974 then?? lol
But like Ste says, you cant really compare when draft is involved. 2.8 in a pack really means the riders punching the hole in air up front is riding over 3.0 and dragging you along at the same speed, but you only “need” to produce 2.8 to stay in the draft and travel at the same speed as that rider. But 2.8 solo, you are taking all the wind resistance which slows you down.
The only races where you can better compare each others performances a bit better are the solo time trials, or races with the draft turned off.
Yes, draft obviously makes a difference, but my first thought was that rider weight and the course profile has a big effect. Heavy riders putting out the target W/kg will be doing more actual watts than lighter riders, and on a flat route they will go faster. So I expect that all you 90 kg guys should be ahead of my 68 kg, and lighter 60 kg folk should be behind. But it doesn’t always work that way because we have hills and we have draft. Fun stuff!
I agree comparing my stats with Maguzzo seems to be odd but, no trickery here. I definitely finished in a much better position than I normally do in the 2nd 2.8 race. I pushed really hard from the start (like I normally do) and got into a big fast group and was able to hang on until the end. The draft (and maybe the right bike) definitely made the difference. 2.8 w/kg is close to my high end so I had to max out on that flat/downhill course to average it. I was out of the saddle a lot just to stay with those riders I don’t ever see other than at the start. 😌
the 2.8 and the bonus 3.0 weeks will be really hard for some of us! But it is also good to have a target to try and hit! But those are the ones some of us will struggle for 10 points…. but then those really fast and strong riders will actually struggle on the 2.0 and 2.3 weeks as we all know cyclist don’t like to go slow! especially when there’s a race going on up the road they feel they are missing out on! lol. Gotta love the physiological challenge!!
OK, don’t mind me. I did say I wouldn’t do the Tuesday warm-up and w/kg rides any more, so of course there I was today. Let’s just say I don’t know how to live my life anymore at age 81….uncharted territory. good to see many friends, and cheers.
I just saw that for the race on April 14th there are 2 times the 9:30 slot and not the 12:30 one. 😇
Otherwise, thank you very much for all the work you do, it’s really nice all these rankings. 😊
That was a fun ride, I believe me and Fazzo34 rode the entire race within 10 feet of each other, 4WorldPeace was out front for a while but he let up his pace and we caught him on the climb and we basically rode 75% of the ride as a trio. We all banked some wattage on the climb and coasted down the other side. Waiting for the watts to drop is alway nerve racking. (it’s not coming down fast enough, oh no it’s coming down too fast) On a steep decent like this I can’t spin fast enough to push the watts back up, I can only slow the decent. We all hit that critical number at the exact same moment. We all finished with in a second of each other but I don’t think we were sprinting against each other I think we were sprinking against the watt meter. Thanks for the ride guys. As a side note – Sunniva came pass us near the top of the climb, she is so strong on the climbs I figured that I would bank a little more watts on the climb so I tried to follow her over the top, I left my group of three and follow her over the top – forget it Sunniva you are so strong on the climbs, you dropped me pretty quickly just riding tempo, 👍
hey Chuck thanks for the comments. I love how we are all now thinking about the route, especially the end as to if we need a buffer of watts or not! The idea was to try and create a group ride format that is also a chance to compete for points as well and it seems there’s a nice core or riders who have really got into this Tuesday training championship. Also the fact that it doesn’t matter what time race you turn up at, you still have it within yourself to get a really good training session in, and hit max points. i love that! And yes, Sunniva is a very strong climber indeed!
Yes, that was a fun ride! I’ve pushed to hard on climbs before and stressed to bring it down on the down hills and have missed the w/kg by a little, and have also blew it by sprinting at the finish so I decided to play it safe and chill on this ride. It was really hard not go with Sunniva and you but, I stuck to my plan and me and Fazzo34 just cruised up the hill.
Funny thing! That could have been a story about me, Duckman2, and jnovak74; finishing the climb together and coasting down shedding watts, and hitting 2.3 all about the same time. But we three were with you three, and Sunniva, and others, earlier. That is what I really like about the paced target races: we get a nice group going and it’s only near the end that we split up to manage our own numbers.
Cheers to everyone 💪🫶🏻🦈
cheers Sharky, lets see how it all goes over the next few months.
Mike, do you remember Neil bet L100 that “hitters” would never be able to do this game? Help me out. I wasn’t completely paying attention, and my 80+ yo memory can get a bit vague.
I don’t remember that. But my memory is not much younger than yours and just as vague.
maybe it was 100 euro…I might have heard it from The Bern, and he is a bit of a loose Canon. anyhow, we are really competitive old SOBs..even in a game like this..good job. 😁
the year still has 11 months… i think my bet is safe lol.
Nice one Mike, yeah it looks neater. sometimes too much data/info can be a bad thing, especially for something thats meant to be a fun way to train.
tx again Neil for all of your entheustic work. Not that I don’t love you all, but I am not doing the Tuesday thing going forward. I need more flexibility in my week. And same with Sunday..great workout but as weatger and daylight is improving, Sunday is my best day of the week to get outside on the gravel. But don’t slack Mike Hagen, Thursday I hope will still be game on. cheers
Hey, no worries Paul, This stuff is all just here for when you can’t get outside or don’t want to go outside. If you can get out, Go!!

2.0 seems even harder when there are hills to climb, for me at least. I have a hard time spinning up hill, especially in a race!! 🤪
